Chapter 183

Aurelia was lounging on the couch at home, her thoughts consumed by Jelena and the ancestral

house. She was so engrossed that she didn’t notice Leopold walking into the room. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

He reached out and ruffled her hair, “What’s on your mind, you seem troubled?”

Aurelia stuck out her tongue, thinking to herself how lucky she was that he only has a fiancée and not a

wife; otherwise, it would be quite awkward for her.

“I was just browsing the internet, reading about celebrities, and I came across your sister–in–law,

Sheryl. I used to love her when I was in school; I’ve seen all her shows.”

Leopold took a seat next to her, raising an eyebrow, “And?”

“After she married your brother Fredric, she retired from acting to take care of the family. They must be

living happily, right?” She asked with a curious tone, sounding like a fan interested in the private lives

of

celebrities.

A hint of mockery flashed across Leopold’s face.

Just a few days ago, his sister–in–law had come crying to their mother, claiming that Fredric was

having an affair with a young internet celebrity and hadn’t been home in a month.

“Their happiness is only for her to know.”

Aurelia shot him a sidelong glance, suspecting that he knew more than he was letting on, but he just

didn’t want to gossip with her.

She went to the kitchen and returned with a glass of milk, “When I saw your eldest brother at the

anniversary celebration, he reminded me of Mr. Chad. Both seem like womanizers.”

Leopold narrowed his eyes, his gaze glinting under the light, sharp and piercing, “Why are you so interested in Fredric today?”

She gave a sheepish smile, “I’m not interested in him, it’s Sheryl I’m curious about. As a fan, it’s natural

for me to want to know about the lives of celebrities.”

Leopold gently tapped her head, “Curiosity killed the cat, remember?”

She knew better than to pry into her cousin’s private life and make things awkward.

“Women should marry loyal men to be happy,” she mused.

Leopold smirked, “Is your dad loyal?”

Aurelia nodded vigorously, “In our family, my grandpa listens to my grandma, my brother Rahul listens

to his wife Perla, and my dad listens to my mom.”

Leopold rubbed his forehead, “So, your family is a matriarchy, huh?”

No wonder this woman seemed submissive but was actually quite wild and difficult to tame. It was a

family

trait!

“A harmonious family is a democratic family,” he retorted.

Aurelia was surprised to hear the word ‘democratic‘ coming from a man who was known for his

domineering nature.

“Shouldn’t we be more democratic too?” she asked.

“We can be, once you’re qualified.”

His words felt like a cold slap to her face. His condescending tone and the way he looked at her, like

she was an insignificant little ant, made her spine tingle.

“I’ll be free in a few months anyway,” she shrugged, forcing a casual smile.

His cold demeanor had taught her to comfort herself and keep her emotions in check.

Leopold’s expression darkened at her words, “If you can’t behave and follow the norms, all your

dreams will burst like bubbles!”

“I’m already the epitome of a well–behaved woman, what else do you want? You, on the other hand,

lack gentlemanly manners,” she muttered quietly, more to herself than to him.

“Even if you’re married to me temporary, you need to follow the Stirling family rules. Don’t let your

Hawthorne family’s bad habits influence the children!”

Aurelia scoffed inwardly: the Stirling family was the one with bad habits. Men’s disloyalty and infidelity,

causing harm to wives and children, seriously disrupted family harmony!

“I’m more afraid of the children inheriting the Stirling family’s flirtatious genes!” she retorted.
