Chapter 125

Elowen was clinging to Leopold as if her life depended on it. “Auntie, I should accompany Leopold. I’m

his fiancee, it’s my duty to be by his side.”

Jessica feigned a reproachful look. “The Stirlings don’t have such a tradition, dear. You can only

accompany him once you’re officially married into our family. Be a good girl and wait here for him.”

Leopold gently detached Elowen’s grip and guided her towards the couch, before turning to leave.

Elowen sat there, biting her lip in frustration.

Aurelia cast a glance at Elowen from afar. She had been counting on Elowen to introduce her to the

company’s regional president. But judging from Elowen’s current state, it seemed like an impossible

task.

Looking around, she spotted Harry and Emily, the HR director, who were busy socializing. She couldn’t

possibly intrude on their conversations.

She had been working in the company for only two years and was still an assistant designer. She

hadn’t even met all the board members of the corporation, let alone the regional leaders.

Evelyn, on the other hand, was being introduced by Louis to all the higher–ups and board members,

like a fish in water.

Aurelia felt a pang of defeat. She quietly retreated to a corner and sat down, feeling like the most

insignificant person at the party.

What she didn’t know was that there were several pairs of eyes secretly watching her. From the

moment Leopold entered the room, he had kept her within his sight.

Aurelia didn’t dare to meet his gaze. Elowen’s words had struck a chord of fear in her heart. She

couldn’t afford to let anyone suspect her relationship with Leopold.

Elara, too, was observing Aurelia. She seemed too skinny to be pregnant. Just yesterday, her daughter

had told her that Aurelia had developed a uterine tumor after an abortion.

If Aurelia was still pregnant, Leopold would never have brought Evelyn into the picture, right?

She decided to investigate. Holding a glass of champagne, she approached Aurelia.

“Are you Aurelia?”

Aurelia quickly stood up, nodded, and made a slight bow. “Yes, hello, Mrs. Stirling.”

Elara glanced at the juice in Aurelia’s hand. “You don’t drink champagne?” Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

Aurelia pursed her lips, “I… I’m not well. I’m on medication, so I can’t drink alcohol.”

Elara sat down, murmuring, “Have a seat.”

“Thank you, Mrs. Stirling.” Aurelia delicately sat down on a chair nearby.

Elara took a sip of her champagne, “I heard from Elowen that you two are friends now?”

Aurelia quickly dismissed the notion, “Oh no, I’m just a small employee. I wouldn’t dare to be friends

with Ms. Elowen. She is the wife of the CEO, my boss in a way. I am always ready to serve her

whenever she needs.”

Aurelia’s use of the term “wife” pleased Elara, and she allowed a smile to creep onto her face. “I heard

you’re competing with Evelyn for the position of director in the Design Department.”

Aurelia looked down, her thick lashes casting a shadow on her eyelids. Her hands nervously clutched

at her dress, making her seem timid and fragile.

“I’m at a disadvantage. Evelyn has a good relationship with the CEO, so many people in the company

are trying to please her. They say that even if Evelyn doesn’t become the wife of the CEO, she will still

be a mistress…”

She deliberately lowered her voice for the last few words, but they were still clearly audible to Elara,

who felt angry immediately.

Aurelia continued, “Luckily, Ms. Elowen always encourages me and gives me courage. I think to

myself, I’m a person of the CEO’s wife, how can I lose to a mistress?”

Elara smirked, “Since you’re Elowen’s person, she will naturally protect you. Don’t be afraid, you may

not necessarily lose to Evelyn.”

“Thank you for your encouragement, Mrs. Stirling.” Aurelia quickly replied, her face showing an
