Chapter 44: The Three Covenants
“Tredan, I’ll tell you for the last time, don’t you dare ask me why! It’s been twenty years and I’m afraid they’ve long forgotten that childish play, after all, Uncle Drye and Ms. Lilian are now in a position and status that constantly reminds them of their image! I’m not the lady you’re talking about, that’s Ms. Lilian!”
Tredan Davi’s patience had reached its limit and he was so furious that Octavia Gills was trying so hard to lie and be cleared of suspicion. Step by step he approached Octavia Gills who looked at Tredan Davi’s angry face. Octavia Gills dared not look him in the face, and step by step she retreated as Tredan Davi approached, her eyes flickering around, only to catch a glimpse of Domino and Woodrow peering from the glass window to the room, watching them like a couple enjoying a film. Octavia Gills seemed to react and was about to say to Domino, “You traitor,” when Tredan Davi dragged her by the hand and led her to the screened sofa, where he kissed her on the lips and nibbled on her upper lip, punishing her for not focusing on him alone.
“Whoa whoa! And you are telling me that Tredan is man enough to hide in a corner where we can’t see him do bad things.” Woodrow was just about to watch the climax when his view was blocked out by Tredan Davi. Leaving Woodrow very baffled!
Looking at Woodrow’s lewd thoughts, Domino couldn’t help but smack him on the head, and with an “ahhh” Woodrow finally came back to his senses.
“Why do I even feel like looking at you now?” Domino crossed her arms, waved hands in dismay, kicked his shin, and chased Woodrow all over the yacht.
“Domino, I’m telling you, with a tigress like you, no man would dare to marry you, you know?”
“Woodrow, stop right there, what are you talking about? Motherfucker, I think you’re tired of living!” Domino shouted as he gave up the chase, panting for breath.
“I’ll stand when you tell me to stand still, that’s not very humiliating! Domino, I’m the only good man in this world who dares to want you, you should treat me well, you know!”
“Oooh…” Domino couldn’t catch up with Woodrow at all and simply sat down on the floor and cried, she knew it would work every time, and sure enough Woodrow saw Domino fall to the floor and cry and ran back to Domino, crouching down to look at her worriedly, only to be ambushed by Domino and thrown on the board, with Domino on top of Woodrow, who in turn was smiling with enjoyment.
“If you miss me, next time you don’t have to go to all that trouble, just hint at me and I’ll run right up to you and lie down.”
“Woodrow, you rascal!”
Domino’s face flushed with embarrassment as she tried to move away from Woodrow, who grabbed Domino’s body as he tried to get up and kissed her on the cheek, and before he knew it, Domino was sinking into him and wrapping her arms around his neck.
Domino’s birthday this year had not only been very special but also very beautiful and happy!
“Octavia, are you sure you still want to deny it in front of me when you’ve been given one more chance?” Tredan Davi said dominantly to Octavia Gills as he released her lips, which were already red and swollen from his passionate kiss.
“I don’t know what exactly you are asking? Tredan, how can I go abroad to be with you for two years? You very well know the state of my family, I’m not in a position to do that!”
“Do you still want to run away? You tell me, can you forget that game your father taught you? You haven’t forgotten it and you can’t possibly forget it now, can you?” Tredan Davi wrenched Octavia Gills around to make her face him and looked earnestly at Octavia Gills, a fiery look that Octavia Gills could not resist.
“Before I came to this yacht, I asked my secretary to investigate the name of the lady who accompanied me abroad 20 years ago in her passport. You can use the name, but you can’t change your face. I remember exactly what ‘Lilian Drye’ looked like when she was with me for two years! I’ve proven that the person I’ve always had in my heart is you, Octavia Gills, am I right? Do you know, Octavia, that it was you I was looking for, and how could you have pushed me towards Lilian?”
“I’m sorry!” Octavia Gills was both surprised and touched, “I’m will get into trouble if I say anything, my hands are tied so I still can’t say anything, even if you guess or confirm it!”
“It doesn’t matter, you can keep quiet, but you can’t leave me like this again! There’s nothing I could ever want, but I can’t lose you, Octavia, the most luxurious and exclusive house without you in it is cold and unlivable! Without you around, everything becomes soulless.”
Is what Tredan saying true? Octavia Gills clung to the man who is very attractive to her, trying to feel his warmth to confirm that she is not dreaming.
“I’ve never left you, I’ve always guarded you, though silently. It’s just that you’re so unreachable that it’s hard for me to get close!” Octavia Gills recalled that when she had just returned to the country, she had applied for a job at the head office and had failed to make the cut.
When she heard that the Group Davi subsidiary was looking for a large number of finance staff, Octavia Gills didn’t even think twice about applying for the job because it was advertised that every Christmas, the Group Davi held an annual meeting night where all the staff, executives, managing directors, president and every director on the board of directors of both the head office and the subsidiary would gather to celebrate.
And every year, Tredan Davi who was the president of Group Davi represented the company on stage to give the annual wrap-up speech to the staff! She started her job as a finance clerk, which she was not so good at, just to see him once a year, and many times she kept going because it was her only chance to see Tredan Davi. She had to do her job well.
“Then why didn’t you come to me? Confess everything about you to me so that I wouldn’t have held on to Lilian but you! How could you manage to be so cruel? You are the first person in the history of the world to let a husband be so generous.”
“What? When did I get a husband?” Octavia Gills’ cute little face turned red and she wanted to dig a hole in the ground for herself to go into and hide!
“Octavia, I am speaking to you very seriously now and you must keep this in mind, that I, Tredan Davi have only ever loved one person in my life and it has been that young lady since the beginning. When I was looking for you, people around me were telling me that that little girl was Lilian and because of that there was so much drama with Lilian Drye’s news that almost turned into a big mistake, so I had to make an appointment with you.”
And a covenant? This man is so strange. It’s just that Octavia Gills feels that happiness has come so suddenly that she’s terrified that everything will be as fragile as a dream, and she can’t deny that this is the image she’s always dreamed of!
“Okay, say it? I will promise you whatever the covenant is all about!” Octavia Gills always manages to turn into a meek sheep without realizing it when it comes to Tredan Davi.
“First, always trust firmly that I love you and that I am the one who will walk through this life with your hands in mine. In the future, no matter who whispers anything to your ears to try to come between you and me, you must tell me about it and never listen to anyone who asks you to give up on me and not to tell me. This is absolutely forbidden. You must never leave me without my consent!
Second, you can’t look at any other man but me and think I’m the only handsome man!
Third, and very importantly, do not be tempted by a lot of money and give up on me!” Tredan Davi knew in his heart that if this marriage between himself and Lilian Drye did not go ahead, his father would not take it lying down, he would put pressure on him and even drag Octavia Gills out and humiliate her. He had already done something about it, and just in case, he had deliberately given Octavia Gills a shot in the arm here!
“Well, yes! I promise you everything!” But what about the Drye Family, and Lilian Drye? Octavia Gills was in turmoil, but it was hard to resist Tredan Davi’s affectionate embrace and kiss.
“Octavia, I am trusting you with my heart and body from this night onwards, and you must hold on to this tightly and never let go, not even a single moment. We must not voluntarily give up on each other, no matter how rough or difficult the road that lies ahead may be, do you understand?”
With Tredan Davi’s keen sense of business, he knows that everything is not going to be easy and he is not afraid of the difficulties he will encounter or the threats he will be subjected to. Tredan Davi fears that his father will find a way to get back at Octavia Gills if he knew of her existence.
In the face of Tredan Davi’s unprecedented affection and now incomprehensible tenderness, Octavia Gills has always felt so beautiful yet disoriented as if it were a dream. It couldn’t be a dream, could it? The happiness she felt was so unexpected to be a dream! It was so unlike the usual Tredan Davi that Octavia Gills pinched herself on the thigh.
“Ah, it hurts, it really hurts, it’s not a dream!”
“How can you be such a fool? I’m such a big living person in front of you, and you need to wonder!” Despite being older than him, Tredan Davi looked at Octavia Gills now like a child, a little girl who needed to be pampered and given a sense of security! All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Tredan Davi couldn’t resist reaching out his hand to soothe her thigh, and uttered snobbishly, “Fool!”
And so, the two of them smiled, confessed their love for each other, and embraced each other!
“It’s cake time, are you two done making love? Come on out and let’s cut the cake now!” Woodrow interrupted their heartfelt confessions from outside. So much was sacrificed to Tredan Davi, who came out of nowhere to steal the show, that he couldn’t leave out his beloved Domino’s cake wish.
It only took a moment for Octavia Gills to get back to reality when she heard the word “cake”.
“Ah, how could I have forgotten something so important? I… I’ll be right there!” Octavia Gills straightened her collar and also wiped her lips as well as Tredan Davi’s before she dared to drag Tredan Davi out to where Domino was and they sang the birthday song and cut the birthday cake to celebrate.
“You’re a bigot, just you wait!” Domino was happy for Octavia; it was a rare thing to see Octavia snuggled up in Tredan’s arms looking like a couple who had eyes only for each other. It seems that Domino sacrificing her birthday party for this evening was well worth it.
“No, you’re the one who has to tell me what’s going on with you?? you??you??you??you three, Domino, you and Woodrow are top-notch actors, you’re both capable of selling me out and I’m still counting the money for you!” Octavia was particularly grateful to Domino and Woodrow because she and Tredan were able to freely hold hands and confess their love for each other tonight.
