Chapter 312 Intending to Apologize
"I said before that I wanted a divorce, but you never listened to me. Now, I don't want
to keep this ambiguous relationship with you. I think I should make things clearer. At the very least, we need to keep our distance. What do you think?"
Upon hearing this, the light in Michael's eyes dimmed instantly.
He frowned, lifted his eyes, and looked at the resolute Emily, asking unhappily, "Do you think I've wasted your time?"
Emily didn't think Michael was wrong.
She responded seriously, "Didn't you think I wasted your time with Sophia back then?"
Sophia again. Mentioning her name made Michael feel even worse.
"Don't bring her up." he said.
"Why not?"
Michael didn't want to talk about it, but Emily felt it was a past he couldn't ignore. Just
as they were at an impasse, another thunderclap sounded outside the window, and
Emily swayed. Michael instinctively pulled her into his arms.
The atmosphere became tense again.
After a long while, Michael finally spoke to Emily, "Do you know what Sophia did behind your back?"
Emily nodded. "You told me before, she plagiarized my work."
Seeing Emily's indifferent response, Michael felt even more guilty. "Then why didn't you tell me?"
Emily responded, puzzled, "You were her fiancé at the time, and I was about to become your ex-wife. Did I need to tell you?"
Emily never thought this would hurt Michael.
So when Michael remained silent, she found herself inexplicably held in his arms.
The atmosphere grew awkward, and Emily pushed Michael away, getting back to the matter at hand. "I have an idea. After we return to Emerald City, let's get the divorce procedures done as soon as possible and announce it immediately."
Michael didn't understand why Emily was in such a hurry.
Did she dislike him that much?
In an instant, Michael's expression changed, and he began to question. "Are you in a hurry?"
Of course, Emily was in a hurry. She could wait, but the baby in her belly couldn't.
In two months, it would be impossible to hide her pregnancy.
Isabella was already awake, and the baby was about to be born.
Emily wanted to protect them and didn't want to become the subject of gossip, especially from those who wished them harm.
"Yes, I'm in a hurry."
Michael didn't expect Emily to answer so decisively.
At the very least, she should think it over or respond differently.
Michael knew he had hurt Emily deeply, but he didn't expect Emily to hurt him in the
same way. Now, it was even; neither owed the other anything.
Before leaving Emily's room, Michael called Andrew in front of her.
In short, he verbally divided half of his assets and transferred the Emerald Lake Manor
to Emily. Andrew was instructed to draft the contract immediately.
After hanging up, Michael coldly responded to Emily. "As you wish, we'll divorce as soon as we return."
Emily didn't want things to be so tense with Michael.

At the very least, they had a child together. They might not see each other again, but there would always be an emotional connection.
She thought she should tell him about the pregnancy. He had the right to know. After an internal struggle, Emily called out to Michael and saw him turn around.
Emily's heart sank, and she took a deep breath, about to speak, when someone in the hallway interrupted.
"Sir, are you staying in room 3493?"
Michael looked over and nodded to the waiter.
"The front desk has a call for you. It sounds urgent. Please go downstairs," the waiter said.
Michael glanced at Emily, then put his hands in his pockets and went downstairs.
Alice had been wandering in the night for a long time and found a stone bench to sit on for a while.
After struggling for a long time, she still didn't have the courage to knock on the door of the Smith Mansion.
Yes, Alice wanted to apologize to Michael and Emily.
She had just returned from abroad and recently heard about Roger's outburst at the party, which almost ruined Emily's reputation and disgraced the Smith family. Alice argued with Roger, only to be scolded by him.
Roger's harsh words were still fresh in Alice's mind: "Don't think I don't know you've been fooling around with Bryan abroad!
"Alice, listen carefully. Just because I don't say anything doesn't mean I don't know. You've grown up abroad, and you belong there. You're not from Emerald City, and you can't be with Bryan!
"Bryan is a free spirit. He had a huge falling out with the Smith family. Yes, the Smith family. He's on Michael's side. You, you're my daughter, and you must stay away from the Smith family!"

But Alice didn't understand. They had been friends since childhood.
She, Bryan, and Michael were the best of friends, closer than most family members. Why did her father insist on separating them, ignoring her feelings?
Thinking of this, Alice's tears flowed uncontrollably. She choked up, her nose tingling, and her eyes reddened.
She tried not to cry, but the years of grievances, Roger's actions, and her friends' and Bryan's opinions overwhelmed her. She squatted on the ground, burying her head and sobbing.
Suddenly, a sports car appeared, braking sharply in front of Alice.
It was Bryan, wearing a loose hoodie and disheveled hair, looking like he had just left home. Seeing Alice on the ground, he rushed over and gently helped her up. "Alice!" "Bryan, I, I..." Alice was already crying uncontrollably.
She didn't know how to describe her feelings to Bryan. It was as if her heart had been shattered, torn between her family and her closest friends.
Alice didn't want this, but she was powerless against Roger's interference.
"I know, I understand." Seeing Alice cry, Bryan's heart ached.
He understood Alice's pain and had heard from Penelope about Roger's feud with the
Smith family.
Suddenly, Bryan said to Alice. "I'll go with you."noveldrama
Alice was momentarily shocked.
She looked up at Bryan with tear-filled eyes. "Bryan, what did you say?"
Bryan gently cupped her cheek and softly said. "I'll go with you to apologize to Michael and Emily."
Hearing this, Alice cried even harder, unable to stop her tears.
What do you think?
