The CEO Gets What He Wants

Chapter 575

Chapter 575 The Delivery

In the cozy room, Nicole drifted off to sleep amidst a mound of stuffed dolls; her body writhing and tossing around.

“Ah... snakes... help...”

She jolted awake; her eyes were filled with terror and confusion as she tried to shake off the remnants of the nightmare.

Once again, she dreamt of numerous snakes coiling around her neck and suffocating her. Some even bared their bloody jaws, ready to rip her apart!

When the housekeeper, who was cleaning the hallway, heard Nicole's screams, she immediately abandoned her task and hurried to the woman's room to find out what was happening.

However, someone in heels beat her to it.

Claire unlocked the door and hurried over to hug Nicole tightly. “Nickie, did you have another nightmare? I'm here, so don't be afraid.”

Nicole snuggled into her mother's embrace. “I'm scared, Mom. My career's ruined, my reputation's gone, and I'm too afraid to leave the house. Is my entire life destroyed?”

“Nonsense! How can my daughter be destroyed so easily! You're still young; there are plenty of good times ahead of you. It's not too late to start afresh. There's no need to continue in the entertainment industry. It's so tiring to film every day. When you feel better, you can follow me to the company and learn how to do business,” Claire coaxed as she tenderly wiped away Nicole's tears.

“But I love acting, Mom,” Nicole croaked.

Feeling distraught by her daughter crying, Claire quickly comforted her. “Okay, you can do whatever you like. You can stay in the entertainment industry and pursue acting. I'll fully support your choice.”

“You're the best, Mom. Will you always support me? Will you always forgive me, no matter what wrong I have done? Will you abandon me as my biological parents did?” Nicole asked, her eyes brimming with tears.

Her illness had taken a visible toll on her, as her face had become noticeably thinner. Tears gathered in her eyes, making her look all the more pitiful.

Claire's heart ached with worry and concern when she saw her daughter in such a state.

She gazed at Nicole tenderly and brushed her nose. “What are you talking about, silly? You have my word that I will never leave you and always will forgive you, no matter what you do. You are my cherished daughter, whom I will always love and care for.”

Unbeknownst to Claire, a green light was flickering under Nicole's blanket as she spoke.

There lay a small exquisite recorder pen.

Nicole smiled contentedly as she played with the tiny recorder pen hidden beneath her sheets.

“It's unhealthy to stay curled up in bed all day, Nickie. Mdm. Wright has invited us to play golf. Why don't you go with me?” Claire suggested.

“I don't want to go outdoors. People will be laughing at me,” Nicole replied as she hid under her covers. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Claire was bent on dragging Nicole out of her bed. “No one will dare gossip about you when I'm around. Mdm. Wright misses you because it has been a long time since she saw you. Moreover, there are many young people like you at the golf course. You can make new friends and expand your social circle. Perhaps, you will feel happier!”

“Okay, I'll do as you say,” Nicole replied as she prepared to get out of bed.

Only the wealthy had the privilege of going to the golf course. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to make new friends.

After all, Nicole's adoptive parents now knew that their biological daughter was still alive. She had to plan for her own future.

Nicole feared that if the biological daughter of the Lambert family was to return, there was no guarantee that she would continue to be accepted in the family.

The golf course was teeming with life as the weekend brought in a particularly lively crowd.

Distinguished officials and their refined wives mingled with dashing young gentlemen and beautiful, graceful young ladies.

A golf ball flew in a beautiful parabolic arc, soaring over sand traps and rolling precisely into the grass, landing in the hole with a satisfying thud.

It was a perfect shot.

“That was amazing, Claire!” Silvia clapped enthusiastically.

Claire was dressed in a simple short-sleeved shirt and white sports pants. With her hair tied up in a long ponytail and tucked under a baseball cap, she shed the mature and capable persona she displayed at work and appeared much more youthful and energetic.

When she stood next to Nicole, they didn't look like mother and daughter; they looked more like sisters.

“Your golf skills are amazing, Mrs. Lambert!”

“Yes, it's truly eye-opening,” echoed another. “How long did you have to practice to become so skilled? Mrs. Lambert, can you share some tips with us?”

The other ladies gathered around Claire, showering her with praise and compliments in an effort to win her favor.

Claire smiled enigmatically at the wealthy ladies, her expression serene. However, her gaze eventually settled on her quiet daughter, who stood nearby with her golf club.

Nicole walked up to her and said sweetly, “Mom, you play really well.”

Claire gently patted her head and said, “Nickie, let me teach you how to play.”

A plump woman approached them, gesturing toward the striking young man sporting a black t-shirt on the field. “There's no need to trouble yourself, Mrs. Lambert. My son is quite talented; he can teach your daughter instead.”

Everyone knew that Nicole was not yet married.

Although her reputation in the entertainment industry had taken a hit due to the recent scandal involving the Moore family's failed engagement, her father's clout and connections made her a desirable prospect for potential suitors.

The other socialites caught wind of the situation and flocked to Claire and Nicole, recommending their own sons or even daughters as potential golf buddies for Nicole.

Those with a son could form a marriage alliance with the Lamberts. On the other hand, a daughter would have the opportunity to become Nicole's trusted confidant.

One way or another, they could butter up to the Lambert family.

In no time, a group of handsome men and beautiful women gathered around Nicole, all vying for the chance to be her golf partner.

Nicole looked through the crowd and saw Claire smiling and nodding approvingly; she couldn't help but think that her popularity among these people was due to the love and care her foster parents had shown her. She shuddered at the thought of how different it would be if their biological daughter returned. Perhaps, she would be given the cold shoulder and ignored by these people.

As Claire saw Nicole reveling in the company of her newfound companions, a broad grin stretched across her face.

After Silvia placed her golf club on the floor, she hurriedly dragged Claire to the VIP lounge.

As soon as she sat down, Silvia's anxiety was palpable as she eagerly shared with Claire her recent investigation. “There's something I need to tell you. I've found some information about the doctor who delivered your baby...”
