Chapter 54: Moving In

his

Daniel’s footsteps echoed down the hallway of the hotel as he hurried back to his room, footsteps echoing his excitement. He had left Anya’s home in a whirlwind of excitement, reaching his room, unable to bear it any longer, and jumped excitedly. As he stood in his room, a sense of determination settled over him like a cloak. He couldn’t let people hurt his Anya and couldn’t fail her again.

With a sense of purpose, Daniel swung open the door to his room and immediately set to work, packing his belongings. Clothes were hastily folded and stuffed into a suitcase, toiletries gathered in a haphazard pile on the bathroom counter. He worked quickly, his movements fueled by a sense of urgency that bordered on desperation.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Daniel zipped up his suitcase and called for a staff to get his things, taking one last look around the room before heading for the door.

The moment he stepped out into the hallway, he saw James approaching with raised brows.

“Where are you going?” he asked, taking in the luggage that a staffer was carrying away.

“To move in with Anya,” Daniel answered and hurried past him, leaving him behind. completely confused and shocked.

“What do you mean, move in with her?” He shouted at Daniel, but he still walked away, unperturbed. He immediately pulled out his phone and called his friend, Ethan.

“What?” Ethan answered after a while.

“I think our friend had lost his mind,” James said. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

“Who?” Ethan asked.

“Daniel!” James answered.

Daniel couldn’t shake the feeling of unease that gnawed at the edges of his mind. What if Anya refused to take him back? What if he had pushed her too far this time?

Pushing aside his doubts, Daniel made his way back to Anya’s house, his heart pounding in his chest with each passing moment. When he finally arrived, he wasted no time in knocking on the door, his hand trembling slightly with nerves

The door swung open to reveal Anya standing on the other side, her expression guarded and wary. “What are you doing here, Daniel?” she asked, her voice laced with caution. She had only just calmed down and cleaned up, and he was here again.

Daniel took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. “I’m living here,” he said, his voice steady despite the tension raging through his veins.

Anya’s eyes narrowed, suspicion flickering in their depths. She thought she had heard wrong. Living where?”

Daniel met her gaze head–on, his resolve unwavering. “Here. We are married after all.”

Anya looked as though she heard that the moon was a giant candy floating in space. A little laughter found its way from her throat. “Have you been drinking? Why would we live together? Why would I want to live with you again?”

Daniel winced at

the accusation in her voice, the weight of his guilt pressing down on him like a lead weight. “I know. You wouldn’t, but we are married, Anya. I intend to live with you.”

Anya’s expression hardened slightly at his words; her walls remained firmly in place. “This is my home, Daniel, my safe place. You cannot be here.” He was burt that she did not want him in her safe place but refused to relent.

Chapter 51. Moving in

Daniel took a step forward, reaching out to gently grasp her hand in his. “I’m not asking. Anya. I am telling you that we will be living together, like every other couple,” he said and walked into her house with his luggage.

Anya’s sanity shook greatly. But before she could respond, her phone rang, interrupting the moment with its shrill tone.

With a sigh, Anya looked away from Daniel, who was now inside her living room, and answered the call, her brow furrowing in confusion as she listened to the voice on the other

end.

“Stanley?” She said, her tone cautious. “How can I help you, Stanley?”

Daniel watched as Anya’s expression shifted from confusion to surprise, her eyes widening with realization as Stanley spoke on the other end of the line.

“Tomorrow?” Anya repeated, her lips adorning a polite smile. “Yes, I think that could work. Thank you, Stanley. I’ll see you then.”

As Anya hung up the phone, Daniel couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy at the sight of her smile. “What was that about?” he asked, his tone guarded. Even though he knew it was a polite

smile, she rarely smiled at him.

Anya turned to face him, her smile fading slightly as she met his gaze. “That was Stanley,” she said. “He wants to meet tomorrow morning to discuss signing a deal with his company.” The moment she spoke, she regretted it. She was not even sure she told him this.

Daniel’s heart sank at the mention of Stanley’s name; his demeanor turned cold as he watched her. “And are you going to go?” he asked, unable to keep the coldness from creeping into his voice. He knew that if he revealed what he knew about Stanley, there was a chance she would not believe him, but he was going to have to talk to her about this soon.

Anya hesitated; a frown adorned her face as she thought of Stanley, “I… Yes, I will,” she admitted. “I have already had my lawyers look into the deal. It is time to sign anyway,” she said and turned away into her room. She was not sure why she was uncomfortable with

Stanley. She did not want to think too deeply.

Daniel nodded, his mind racing with a thousand thoughts and emotions. He knew that winning Anya back wouldn’t be easy and that it would take time and effort on his part. But he was patient. Anya was his. Nothing could change that. He took the guest room since he noticed the room she entered had to be her own. He slowly put away his things, wondering how he should approach this matter with Anya. How does he make her trust him again?

The clock on the bedside table ticked away the seconds as Daniel sat on the edge of his bed, his phone pressed to his ear. The darkness of the room covered him like a shroud of mist as he waited for Neil to answer, his heart pounding in his chest with a mix of anticipation and dread.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Neil’s voice crackled through the line, the sound distorted by the distance between them. “Daniel?”

“Yeah, it’s me,” Daniel answered, the darkness in his voice spilling into the phone. “I need to know what else you have on him.

Neil’s tone grew serious, his voice lowering dangerously at Daniel’s words. “What else do you want on him? Do you want more? I am sure I could make it happen.”

Daniel hesitated for a moment. “I need you to send me all the documents you have on Anya’s deal with Stanley. I am going to tell her tonight.”

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line as Neil processed Daniel’s request. “Sure thing, Daniel. I’ll send them over right away.”

Daniel ran his hand through his hair. “Anya will be signing tomorrow, so do you have a copy of the deal?” he asked. “She needs to see for herself that she cannot trust them.”

Neil’s voice was filled with concern. “That doesn’t sound good, Daniel. Have you hinted anything to Anya about it? She might not believe you. Maybe if you created suspicion in her

mind first.

Daniel shook his head, even though Neil couldn’t see him. “That would have been an option, but I don’t have much time. I just can’t understand why he is rushing”

Neil sighed heavily on the other end of the line, the sound echoing through the silence of the room. “The document she is going to sign tomorrow, Daniel. It’s bad. She is an artist. Artists see their work as their child. She might not take it well. Don’t you think you are going too far?”
