The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 155

hapter 155: Taking Back the Company

Gina’s smile became stiff as her eyes moved between Anya and Emma. She was trying hard to look calm and in control. “Your Uncle is still in the hospital unconscious,” she said, trying to sound confident. “Someone needs to step in and run things while he’s away.”

Anya gave a small, mocking smile and shook her head. “Why do you need to do this? This isn’t your job, and you don’t belong in this company,” she said.

“Why can’t I be here?” Gina asked, her voice tight with tension.

“This is my mother’s company. Even if my sister and I died, it would go to my nephew, Henry. It has nothing to do with you or your kids,” Anya fired back.

“Your Uncle is sick. Should I just let the company…” Gina started to say.

“There’s no need for that,” Anya cut her off. “You’re a housewife. You’ve never run a company in your life – what good would you do here? Are you saying all these professionals need you watching over them?” She paused before adding, “Besides, Emma is in charge of Uncle’s affairs now, and he only owns a tiny part of the company – just 2 percent. He doesn’t need anyone representing him here. Even though he was the CEO, he doesn’t own the company, so why is the CEO’s wife trying to run a board meeting? People would laugh if they heard about this.”

The board members looked at each other as they realized that Martin Jones was no longer the biggest shareholder.

Gina’s calm face cracked, showing her shock. She jumped up from her chair, her hands shaking with anger.

“How can the CEO only have 2 percent of the shares?” she demanded, her voice getting louder.

Emma stepped forward, looking straight at Gina. “This is our mother’s company,” she explained calmly. “Our Uncle was just holding onto the shares for us until we all got married. Now that we’re married, they’re back with us, where they belong.”

Anya’s eyes showed her determination as she spoke to Gina again. “Also,” she added firmly, ” the court put Emma in charge of Uncle’s affairs because of the strange way he got hurt. You should go home and take care of him.”

“You’re telling me to leave?” Gina asked.

“Yes, why not? Is there some reason you want to stay?” Anya asked.

“I’m your Uncle’s wife. I deserve respect, if nothing else,” Gina insisted.

“Respect? Even Martin Jones can’t demand respect here. Who are you to ask for it?” Emma challenged.

“Do you have to embarrass me like this?” Gina asked. She didn’t want to get up – she had

walked in like she owned the place and didn’t want to leave feeling ashamed.

“This is a company board meeting, not a family dinner. Why are you still here?”

Gina’s face went white at Anya’s words, and she couldn’t speak for a moment. Without saying anything else, she turned and hurried out of the boardroom, her pride hurt and her plans ruined.

When the door closed behind her, Anya and Emma felt victorious. Their bond as sisters grew stronger with their shared win. They looked at each other, both knowing how important this moment was as they took back their mother’s company.

With new confidence, Anya and Emma sat down at the table, ready to take their rightful place in the company and keep their mother’s dream alive.

They looked around and saw faces they remembered from their childhood. Some people smiled at them, and an older woman even gave them a thumbs up.

“You’ve grown into strong women,” she said. “Your mother would have been proud.”

Her words made Emma tear up..

After Gina left, the board meeting went smoothly. Emma and Anya took charge, their words carrying weight as the biggest shareholders in the room.

Emma cleared her throat and looked around at all the board members. “Given what’s

happened,” she began, speaking clearly and with authority, “We think the company should hire a professional manager to be the new CEO.”

The board members nodded and whispered their agreement. Anya showed her support for

Emma’s idea.

“We believe bringing in someone from outside who has the right skills and experience will help the company grow and succeed,” Anya added confidently.

The board members understood and agreed. Many of them knew about the sisters from when their father ran the company. Most of them weren’t happy with Martin Jones. He wasn’t as good at business as his late father and made bad decisions. He couldn’t move the company forward but wouldn’t step down.

Now that Martin was out of the picture, it was the perfect time to make changes to protect the company’s future.

After talking about different possible candidates, they made a decision. Everyone on the board voted yes to hiring a professional manager as the new CEO, taking away Martin Jones’s position.

Emma and Anya shared a satisfied look, feeling closer than ever after their victory. With the board supporting them, they felt sure they could lead the company to better times.

When the meeting ended, Emma and Anya stayed behind to plan what to do next. They knew

they had more work to do, but they were ready for whatever challenges came their way.

“We need to move fast to find the right person for the job,” Emma said, thinking hard.

Anya nodded. “I’ll start calling our contacts and making a list of people who might be good for the position,” she replied confidently.

They got to work together, their minds full of plans. They knew it wouldn’t be easy, but they were determined to succeed no matter what problems they faced.

As they walked out of the boardroom, they felt hopeful about the future. Their footsteps echoed in the hallway as they started a new chapter in the company’s story. With Emma and Anya leading the way, things were looking better than ever before.

“What? What company?” Old Madam Jones asked.

“Our company. Grandma, why did Grandpa leave the shares to Aunt Stella? Why didn’t you say Aunt Stella was the real owner?” Kelsey asked.

The old Lady found it hard to breath, but she till managed to scold Kelsey.

“Don’t sprout rubbish. Your father is the true owner! What Stella? Your father is the owner!” the old lady insisted.

“It doesn’t matter how much you scold. The cord has transferred the shares to them. Anyway, I have to go away for a while. There are some expenses I took from the company. I need to leave first. You take care of yourself, Grandma!” she said and ended the call. Old madam Jones immediately went online and found that the company she slaved to keep had really changed

hands.

She had a stroke and collapsed. Strangers took her to the hospital,
