The Billionaire’s Bargain Bride

Chapter 13

Possessive

CENRIC

The meeting didn’t go anywhere. We still had to be very accountable even every cryptocurrency was affected by the breach. We valued our customers, and we wanted to guarantee that their investments were in good hands.

“It’s already plunging. Aren’t you supposed to do something?” For a crypto investor, sometimes, he was just stupid. “Archer is one of the largest markets, and it shouldn’t be breached.” Aaron Arnett was one of the boards and OneMore Exchange founder.

“It happens all the time. I mean, not the breach. Cryptocurrency is the most volatile currency on the planet,” my brother said. “You should know by now. The stock market as well. It crashes when there’s a prolonged bull market.”

I trusted my brother. Since we were young, he was drawn to mathematics. Before my enlistment, he took advanced courses in programming and cryptography, and it all paid off.

“Can’t you be at least thankful the breach did not happen in our system? CENTH will bounce back and fly to the moon. Hashtag to the moon. Hashtag diamond hands,” our senior program manager, Eli said and quoted.

“If you have nothing important to relay to the boards, to me, I’d rather go home to my wife. This breach is not our problem. Our security team will continue monitoring just like they usually do. Trust in our system. No need to panic.” I stood up and buttoned my suit. “This meeting is adjourned.”

I met my brother in the elevator with a huge grin on his face. “Go home to my wife.” He quoted in the air. “Well, that’s new, and I love the heart emoji in your eyes. The love vibe in the air is so thick I can slice like a chocolate cake.”

“Yet, you dragged me all the way here to that godforsaken meeting,” I replied with disinterest.

“Sorry, bro. Being the founder and CEO, you can’t just ignore their concern.”

“I know.”

“Anyway, how’s the honeymoon? How’s your wife?”

I eyed him suspiciously. “Short, abrupt, and she’s great.”

“Happy to hear that, bro.”

I slipped my hands in my pockets. “Just say it.”

“Happy to know that you two get along just fine.”

“I still have a lot of things to learn about her, but she’s not that pain in the ass. At least for the past three days. Never demand or pry. She’s kinda sweet and thoughtful.”

“And hot.”

My eyes flew up to him, and my blood started boiling. “I’m tired.”

“She took a shine on you. I get it. It’s understandable. She’s beautiful and a decent woman.”

“Hot and beautiful.” My eyes narrowed.

“And you’re becoming a jealous and possessive husband.” He laughed out loud.

“That’s not true.”

“You are my brother, and I love you very much. I want you to be happy. But I also know you from inside out. I know you’re a little bit overprotective, but when it comes to mentioning women’s names, you never glared at me and fisted your hands in your pocket and thought of punching and breaking my nose. You might not know you’re doing that, but I do know, brother.”

“Just drop it.”

He chuckled, and now I might just punch him. He just raised his hands and surrendered. “Just messing with you.” He laughed out loud again. “That’s good to know that someone got my brother in a ball.”

I couldn’t help but chuckle. I just remembered Sadie threatening my balls.

“Enjoyed a lot, huh? Glad you took a break and had some fun.”

Linden just parked the car as we reached down the parking spot.

“Take care, bro. Say hi to Sadie for me.” He tapped me on my shoulder.

“Will do.”

For the first time in history, I was excited to go home, not to sleep, but to see someone who had just recently become a part of my life. In just three days, my life drastically changed, and I was still trying to figure out how to deal with it. Was this even a good thing?

How I let my walls crumble down and let someone in so quickly had me question my sanity. This wasn’t even a part of my plan, and now it was suddenly out of hand.

Then she was not in my bed. “Sadie?” I checked the bathroom even if the light was off. She wasn’t there. I went down in a hurry, hoping she didn’t just escape.

My stomach twisted in knots.

My heart turned to ice.

Considering her track record of escaping, I hoped what I had in mind was wrong. I wasn’t ready to go there and jumped to the conclusion.

“Sadie?”

I dialed Devin, and he picked up my call right away. “Where is she?”

“Sir, she didn’t leave the last time I checked. Which was thirty minutes ago.”

“Thanks.” I felt nauseous with anxiety. I ended the call.

I checked the guestroom, and the door wasn’t locked. My hope rose high. I might as well smile as I stopped dead in my tracks to see her curled up in the bed, sleeping soundly.

I sighed in relief. I should have given her the benefits of the doubt.

I carried her to our room. She even talked in her sleep. After tucking her in bed, I went to the kitchen to grab something for dinner before going directly to my office to check some emails.

I dialed my assistant, Theo. “I supposed I’m still free tomorrow?”

“Yes, sir. You can report back on Monday. If there’s anything urgent, I will contact you personally. Anything else I can help you with?”

“That’s all—” Before I hung up, I remembered something. “Wait. What’re the best sci-fi movies to watch on Netflix?”

“Sir?”

I groaned. I knew he was surprised by my inquiry. “You heard me right, Theo.”

“Oh, okay. I’ll add them to your watchlist. Anything else, sir?”

“How about fantasy?”Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“Fantasy series is the best to binge-watch. I’ll add that too. Consider The Witcher, sir. Also, Shadow and Bone. She would love them.”

“Why?”

“Henry Cavill and Ben Barnes?”

“And?”

“They’re hot.”

“Then no.” Theo was gay, but I had nothing against him having a boyfriend. Besides, he was the best assistant in town, and he and his boyfriend seemed happy.

My wife was still asleep before I went to shower. When I came back, she was not there anymore. I put some shirts and sweatpants on and went down to the kitchen.

Sadie had her hand tucked under her chin in deep thoughts with half-empty bottled water on the counter.

“Did I wake you up?”

She turned and watched me as I walked closer to her. “I didn’t know you walk barefooted in your penthouse.” That was the first thing she noticed?

“And is it a bad thing?”

She shook her head, lips pouting. “Nope. It’s kinda sexy.”

My brow cocked up. “Have a foot fetish?” I leaned over to kiss her on her nose.

“Nah. You’re the only one I found your feet are sexy.”

“You’re something. Hungry?”

“God. I’m so terrible. I should have asked you.” She looked embarrassed.

“No worries. We have all the time in the world, babe.” I put the sandwich in the microwave. “You met Elena?”

“Yeah. She’s kinda nice.”

“She is. She was my nanny.”

“Really?” She looked shocked. “So, she knows what you’re scared of?”

I bit my sandwich and offered her the other slice, but she said she was full. “Plan to prank me?”

“I’m making sure to know your weaknesses, husband.”

“Hmm. Interesting.” I stood up, rounding to her back. “How about you, babe?”

She shivered against my breath. “I won’t tell you anything to use it against me, babe.”

“Now that we’re here alone, I might as well explore by starting this….” I flicked the soft shell of her earlobe.

She shivered again. “Eat, big guy.” She slipped out of the stool. “See you in the morning.”

When I came back to the room, she typed something on her phone.

“No phone in bed, mi cielo.”

“Elena thought you that, isn’t she? I should Google Translate that.” She locked her phone and placed it on top of the nightstand.

“Yeah. She came from Spain.” I joined her in bed. “Come here.” I tapped the space between us. “I promise I won’t bite.”

She got closer to me and laid down her head on my arm. “What if I want you to bite me?”

“You don’t have to say it twice.” I leaned down to kiss her on her lips. She instantly responded, her fingers knotted into my hair.

The second her lips parted, I slipped my tongue in her mouth, sipping her taste that I missed in hours.

“I could fucking kiss you all night,” I growled, drawing her closer to me, our body clutching together, her leg snaked into mine.

“Why wait?”

I nipped her lower lip, breaking the kiss. “Baby steps, babe. And I want you to trust me first.”

“Do we have to trust each other to fuck?”

“Don’t say that word again,” I growled before I slammed my mouth to hers, thrusting my tongue inside, swiping it against her own. It was hot and hungry, drinking the word fuck in.

“You are the one who said you don’t—”

I pressed a finger on her lips, narrowing my eyes at her. “I know what I said, Sadie, but you’re too beautiful to swear.”

“All right. Now, can we go back to kissing?”

I grinned like a motherfucker who just found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. “Damn right, we will.” I took her mouth again, claiming and consuming her even if just a kiss.
