Chapter 848

Isaac couldn’t bear to think about what Brittany had endured over those five years, and he dared not

ponder what would become of him if she ever left him again.

Brittany caught the scent of his unease, a flicker of hesitation crossing her eyes before she finally

spoke, “All that’s in the past; I’ve moved on.”

Isaac kissed the lobe of her ear, a gesture devoid of lust, imbued instead with an emotion akin to guilty.

Brittany was perfectly compliant.

But the kiss took on a life of its own, nearly sparking a fire.

Until the piercing blare of a car horn!

Someone was rapping on the window.

The driver behind them could no longer hold back, “Hey, this is a public place, mind the PDA!”

Brittany snapped out of it, pushing Isaac away with mortification, wishing the ground would swallow her

whole.

Isaac was also embarrassed, mumbling an apology before driving off.

A few blocks later, Brittany’s cheeks were still ablaze.

Isaac couldn’t help but tease her when he noticed her flush, “Shy, are we?”

Brittany pinched his waist hard. “Shut it!”

Isaac was in high spirits, tenderly holding her hand. “From now on, no more hardships for you.”

Brittany smiled wryly, “Great.”

Promises from men were hard to keep, and she knew it well. Yet she still wanted to give Isaac a

chance.

When they arrived at the studio, Isaac wouldn’t leave her side and insisted on waiting in her office.

After wrapping up her business, Brittany returned to find him sprawled on the couch, asleep.

His legs were carelessly draped, one hand over his eyes, and his shirt was crumpled and partly

unbuttoned, revealing a glimpse of his toned chest.

Brittany tiptoed closer, but Isaac was already waking up, blinking at her sleepily. “All done?”

Brittany nodded, “Let’s head home.”

Despite his exhaustion, Isaac insisted they go to a romantic bistro and whisked Brittany off to dinner.

After a hearty meal, they returned home, where Isaac couldn’t fight off sleep any longer.

During her trip, he’d been working like a top, and now he could finally relax.

Emerging from the shower, Brittany found him sound asleep.

Standing by the bed, she observed his peaceful face. Hesitant, she grabbed his phone and unlocked it,

the call log glaring back at her.

Quickly noting the calls between Isaac and Grace, Brittany turned off the phone and slid into bed.

Grace, upon learning Brittany was back, invited her to dine at the Salter Manor for a sort of pre-surgery

meal.

Brittany accepted.

By the time Isaac awoke, breakfast was ready.

“Morning, time to eat.”

Isaac wrapped his arms around her from behind, inhaling her sweet scent. “V you get up?”

“After ten. She let him hold her, “Grandma called, we’re having dinner there tonight.”

Isaac grunted in acknowledgment.

“I recall you once mentioned you met Joie because you were kidnapped?” This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

“That’s right.”

As Brittany poured the milk, she ventured further, “Do you remember who kidnapped you?” “Not really,

just that the ship was bound overseas.”

Isaac had been young back then, and over the years, his memories had faded.

Overseas?

Brittany’s thoughts raced to Craneville, her lips tightening.

She pecked Isaac perfunctorily and excused herself to the restroom.

Dialing Charles, she inquired, “Could you check if, twenty-five years ago, Imperial City was sending

people over to Craneville every month?”
