Chapter 811
Chapter 811
Isaac’s proposal was a success, and Joie almost lost her cool when she heard the news.
“What in the world did Brittany do to him? Poor Isaac is stripped bare, and yet he’s still taking her back?”
If it had been anyone else, Isaac surely wouldn’t let them off the hook so easily.
Leda snorted with a hint of mockery, “If you had even a third of her cunning, you wouldn’t have spent five long years failing to snag Isaac!”
Joie’s weak spot had been hit, and her face flushed with anger, “Isn’t Manuel out now? When are you two tying the knot?”
Leda was at a loss for words.
Joie was doing it on purpose, well aware that the Salter family wouldn’t budge.
Leda’s face hardened.
“Cut the chatter. We need to move forward with the plan we discussed earlier.”
Joie knew all too well that once Brittany and Isaac were married, her web of lies would unravel.
“Understood.”
After Leda left, Joie rolled up her sleeves and prepared a home-cooked dinner, then made her way to Isaac’s company.
Nathan had just wrapped up a meeting and was surprised to see Joie.
“Ms. Joie, what brings you here?”
Joie shook the container in her hand, “I’ve brought Isaac some dinner.”
Nathan knew Joie had always harbored feelings for Isaac.
But Isaac had Ms. Dustin now…
“Ms. Joie, Mr. Salter is still in a meeting,” Nathan said. “I can take that for you and pass it along.”
“No, I need to see Isaac.” Joie insisted.
Nathan couldn’t say much more and went to inform Isaac. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“Should I let Ms. Joie in?”
“Bring her in.”
Isaac hadn’t had much time for Joie lately, and her showing up like this probably meant she wanted something.
While Joie waited, she scanned the entire company. It wasn’t as large as Grandeur Capital, but for a startup, it was incredibly successful.
Isaac had lost Grandeur Capital, yet he still managed to build such a sizable company, which spoke volumes about his formidable capabilities.
The employees passing by didn’t pay much attention to Joie, rarely greeting her.
After about ten minutes, Nathan emerged from the office.
“Ms. Joie, please come in.”
Joie offered a gracious smile, “Thank you.”
Upon entering the office, she approached Isaac and placed the insulated food container on his desk. “Isaac, as I mentioned earlier, I wanted to work at your company. I’ve submitted my resume and gone through the interview. I hope you don’t mind.”
Isaac was surprised she was serious, raising an eyebrow, “If you follow the procedures, I have no objections,”
Joie looked troubled, “But Ms. Dustin…”
“Don’t worry, Brittany won’t meddle with the company affairs.” A warning flashed in Isaac’s eyes, “Joie, if you’re genuinely interested in working here, focus on your job. Don’t concern yourself with what you shouldn’t, and definitely don’t touch what you shouldn’t touch!”
Like Daniel!
Joie felt intimidated, as if her secrets had been laid bare, and she instinctively clenched her fingers, “Isaac, I don’t understand what you’re implying.”
Not understanding?
Isaac chuckled lightly.
She probably understood all too well.
“It’s getting late. If there’s nothing else, please leave.”
Reluctantly biting her lip, Joie turned and walked out.
After she left, Isaac tossed the container aside and instructed Nathan to keep a close eye on Joie. He couldn’t afford any more surprises
Joie, after all, was a graduate of a reputable university, and had accumulated valuable experiences during her years in Imperial City. She actually made it through the application process.
On her first day, Joie invited the whole office to join her for afternoon tea.
Brittany popped in to see Isaac and was surprised to find the marketing department buzzing with excitement, “What’s the occasion?”
A passing employee immediately replied, “We have a new colleague, and she’s treating everyone to afternoon tea.”
Brittany recognized the logo on the cup the employee was holding.
The place was infamous for its afternoon tea, with a per-person cost of fifty bucks – quite a sum in a city like Imperial City.
With a department of over a hundred people, this new colleague must have some spare change to spend.
“Ms. Dustin, would you like some?”
