Brittany didn’t mind. She returned to her room to freshen up. When she emerged, she saw the news that Joie had been replaced.

It seems that Zella acted fast.

Joie was fuming at home, stomping her feet in anger over being replaced.

Her agent was surprised, “Joie, aren’t you and Mr. Marcel on good terms?”

Why would they replace her role out of the blue?

“It must be Zella.”

Joie gritted her teeth. Who else would have a bone to pick with her?

Zella probably found out about the news and had a falling out with Marcel.

Joie, not willing to accept being replaced, planned to get in touch with Marcel again and determined to reclaim her role.

Marcel hadn’t expected Zella to be bothered by Joie’s presence. He was slightly irked, but Zella’s jealous expression was rather amusing to him.

“I’ve already replaced her role, so stop making a fuss.”

Zella held onto Marcel’s hand, “Marcel, I’m willing to agree to anything as long as I can be with you. But there can’t be anyone else.”

He didn’t want to get married, and she compromised even though she had objections.

Her only requirement was that she should be the only one by Marcel’s side.

“There’s no one else.” Marcel spoke truthfully, “I don’t like Joie.”

Zella knew it, otherwise Marcel wouldn’t have replaced Joie.

“Alright.”

Word spread quickly about Joie being replaced, and many in the industry speculated whether Joie had offended someone. Everyone was watching.

Her previously packed schedule was forced to a halt, and Joie was left with nothing to do overnight.

She tried contacting Marcel a few times but received no reply.

Joie took the initiative and found the director of the show, a man who was attractive for his age, but unfortunately, getting on in years.

The two of them had dinner together a few times, Joie made sure to keep a low profile when trying to get on his good side.

The director knew about her connections with the Salter family, and gradually warmed up to her.

Joie took advantage of her free time to make her presence known to Grace Salter.

Grace knew Joie had ulterior motives, but couldn’t bear to reprimand her, so she treated her as she always had.

Brittany brought Daniel home for dinner, and Joie was exceedingly gentle with him.

Daniel remembered the incidents from before and kept his distance from Joie.

Before leaving, Brittany gave Joie a meaningful glance.

That night, Brittany and Daniel boarded a plane to see Isaac.

Isaac was in H city. Brittany had business to take care of in H city.

By the time they landed, it was already late at night.

Isaac was waiting at the exit. He quickly moved forward to greet them when he saw them, “You’ve arrived.”

Brittany walked up to Isaac with Daniel, who was exhausted and could barely stand. The fact he was still walking was a miracle.

Isaac scooped Daniel up in his arms and looked at Brittany, “Why did you arrive so late?”

“We had dinner at the Salter Manor.”

Brittany hadn’t discussed Daniel’s fall with Isaac yet. Isaac, not dwelling on it, gently held Daniel in one arm and took Brittany’s hand with the other, “Let’s go to the hotel first.”

“Brittany was indeed tired, “Okay.”

Upon reaching the hotel they were staying at, Daniel was tucked into bed, and Isaac opened the door to the master bedroom.

Brittany, fresh from a shower with her hair still damp, turned her gaze upon hearing the sound.

“Can we talk?”

Isaac had a bad feeling, “About what?”

“Why didn’t you tell me the truth about Daniel’s tumble?”
