The Billionaire Who Stole My Heart

Chapter 778

Chapter 778

The private dining room was left with only Mila and her son, Nathan. The cold demeanor Mila previously held evaporated, “Tell me, what does it take for you to come home?”

“Don’t force me to join the family business or oppose my marriage, and I’ll return.”

Nathan didn’t want the situation to escalate, “Mom, I have a promising future here in Imperial City. I don’t want to return to H city.” No matter how good H city was, it couldn’t accommodate him.

In Imperial City, he has already established his own career.

Why would he return to H city?

“If you don’t want to return to the Jarvis family, then marry Megan.” Mila changed her strategy, “I can’t accept Kari; her family background is too poor.”

Megan, on the other hand, was the daughter of the Campbell family, one of the four major families in H city. Her family background was excellent.

Kari, a girl raised in a single-parent family, could not be compared with Megan.

“No.” Nathan shook his head, “I have no feelings for Megan. I only want to be with Kari.” This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

“Then return to the Jarvis family.” Mila laid out her terms, “If you want to be with Kari, you must return. I’ll accept her since you liked her so much, but Kari must change her social status.”

The Jarvis family was influential, and Jacob, Nathan’s brother, had established a strong position in the company. If Nathan married a woman without social status, he would only be at a disadvantage.

Mila didn’t like Kari, but if it would make Nathan yield, she could find a way to elevate Kari’s status significantly.

“No.” Nathan shook his head again, “I won’t return, and I won’t marry Megan. Mom, don’t force me.”

He was not the Nathan from ten years ago, no longer threatened by the Jarvis family.

Mila’s face turned pale, evidently not expecting Nathan to be so firm.

The two parted on bad terms.

Nathan went to the restroom, waiting for Kari.

Kari came out from the stall, walked to the sink, and turned on the faucet.

Megan walked up behind her, shedding her previous gentleness, a hint of dissatisfaction lurking, “Ms. Malone, please leave Nathan.”

Kari’s movements didn’t stop as she responded, “Ms. Campbell, who are you to say this?”

“Nathan is the man I love.” Megan held no malice towards Kari, “I don’t want to complicate things for you, but you should be aware that, given your social status, you aren’t a suitable match for Nathan. If you’re willing to step aside, I can fulfill all your wishes.”

Megan believed she had offered generous terms.

“I can’t do that.” Kari shook her head, “I don’t lack money, nor do I need rewards.”

Kari turned off the faucet and dried her hands. “Ms. Campbell, you can try to persuade Nathan to leave me. I won’t let go.”

With that, Kari quickly left.

Megan heard Nathan’s voice rise, different from his usual coldness, it held traces of concern.

Megan leaned against the wall, with her arms crossed.

Was it true love? Or was it just an act of rebellion, deliberately going against his family?

Megan returned to the private dining room after Kari and Nathan left.

Mila was visibly upset. It seems like her conversation with Nathan hadn’t gone well.

“Madam, are you okay?”

Mila waved her hand dismissively, “Over the years, I’ve come to understand that Nathan is deliberately opposing me.”

“Madam, Ms. Malone is quite outstanding, so why not give them a chance? Perhaps you could train Ms. Malone?”

Mila was taken aback. She thought Megan would be against Kari, but she didn’t expect Megan to speak for Kari.

“Madam, given that Nathan has distanced himself from you over the years, outright opposition may not be a lasting solution. Why not spend more time with Ms. Malone? You may discover her virtues.”

With Nathan being Mila’s only son, it was normal for her to have high hopes for him.

If things got too ugly, it wouldn’t be good.

Mila had no choice but to consider Megan’s suggestion.

Seeing Mila start to hesitate, Megan’s lips curled into a mocking smile.

Despite professing great fondness for her, wasn’t she still fundamentally a selfish person deep down?
