The suspension

Miller’s office was very spacious and contained plush seats. It was hard to imagine that it was scorching hot outside with the advanced air conditioning in there. You’re probably thinking I wanted that office too but unfortunately or fortunately for you, I was not that greedy, yet. Having Maya Bennett out of the company was so satisfying it felt like I would never need anything else in order to be happy.
“I’m so glad you finally did it,” I told Miller who was glaring at me like I had just killed someone he loved. The look on his face told me he was one step away from hitting me to death. We both knew I can never be as competent as Maya Bennett and while I didn’t care, I was sure he did. This was going to affect the company and not in a very positive way. Maya had been more committed to her job than I would ever be.
“You know I didn’t want to fire her,” he said, opening a black file which was on top of the table. “And I may not have been able to even suspend her if you hadn’t managed to convince the COO that it was a good idea. I wonder how you managed to convince him.”
“I have my ways,” I told him.
He narrowed his eyes in confusion. I watched as realization hit him. “Get out of my office right now.”
I laughed, rising and walking to stand behind him. I massaged his shoulders and bent down until my head was on his shoulder. I didn’t care that his well-groomed beard would probably ruin my makeup. I could always retouch it.
“Don’t talk to me like that, darling. You don’t know how happy you’ve made me today. You wouldn’t want to ruin that because you know how far I’m willing to go if you annoy me. I can scream right now and accuse you of attempting to rape me. I have pictures to prove you’ve had sexual relations with me. What will happen to the company you love so much? It’ll be in ruins and your family will desert you.”
I loved making people suffer, especially when they were rich and thought money could save them from everything. It was nice to see them helpless and unhappy. That ought to teach them not to act like they’re better than everyone because they make a lot of money. If this man was capable of sleeping with his employee, I wondered how many women he’d taken advantage of.
“Someone once told me that rich people run this country,” I loved taunting him and it made me feel so powerful. I guess this is how dominants feel in BDSM relationships. “What will you do now with all your money, Miller?”
Eventually, I get bored of teasing him so I went back to my office. My office. I liked the sound of that. I finally had an office I was proud of.
The smile on my face vanished when I found Harry seated on my chair. I rolled my eyes. It was like I couldn’t enjoy my life without him or Maya ruining everything. Instead of lashing out at him, I adopted a softer approach. I wanted him to be on my side so being rude wasn’t going to help further my cause. I had to act as if I had nothing to do with Maya’s suspension.
“Good afternoon, Mr. Smith.”
“Why did you falsely accuse Maya of mistreating you?” He asked. Oh hell. “Maya has tried her best to get along with you since you got here but you’ve always made it so hard for her. Was your only aim to replace her? I thought we talked about this. All we needed to do is break the two up not ruin her life.”
Harry wasn’t stupid. It seems he’d thought about everything and was convinced that I was guilty. If there was one thing that can even a heart of stone, it was emotional blackmail so I resorted to it. It was quite sad that I could never fake tears. Sometimes I couldn’t even cry in genuinely sad situations.
“I grew up in a very poor family,” I began. “Sometimes we barely had anything to eat and rich people treated us like trash. Growing up, I always dreamed of being rich and great so that people could respect me and my family.” I paused for effect. I knew that being from a poor background didn’t mean you should be a b¡tch but I wanted him to understand why I was like that. “When I got accepted here, I thought it was a great opportunity to have an important position like Maya’s. Since she and her family are already rich, she doesn’t need this job as much as I do. I’m sorry and I swear I regret it. I wish I could turn back time.”
“If you truly regret it, you can go and withdraw you claims. Tell the COO and Miller that you lied.”
“I can’t. Her suspension is only for two weeks. If I go and say I lied, I’ll get fired.” I shook my head. “Don’t do this to me, Harry. I can’t survive without this job.”Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“That means you’re not sorry about what you did,” he stood up and walked to the door. After opening, he raised his phone and showed the screen to me. The recording app was on.
My heart skips beat and I gasped. I had landed myself into so much trouble I was not sure I’d ever be able to get out of it. But I had to try.
“Stop there, Harry. I have evidence against you too. I recorded you when we slept together when you said you wanted to tear Zane and Maya apart. I’ll just say that was part of the plan. If I go down, you go down too.”
Harry glared at me.
“Don’t you see it? This suspension is good for both of us. It’ll put a distance between Zane and Maya. He’ll probably turn his focus to another hot woman in the company and Maya will all be yours. What you need to do now is go and get close to her. Comfort her and be there for here. Women never forget such things. I don’t think Zane can do all the nice things you can do for someone who has been your friend for such a long time. Instead of admonishing me, you should be thanking me. I’ve practically thrown Maya into your lap.”
Without saying anything, Harry stormed out. I smiled. Mission accomplished.
