Chapter 56
Chapter 56
56. The Start Of The Journey
MORGANA
I wondered if my decision for Sage to be removed from the pack was far too harsh or if it fitting? Either way, her deceit appalled me. However, I’m not one who can say much, I tried to kill Kian too. The guilt of that decision would always remain in my mind, and I knew that I’d always regret it, even if I didn’t go through with it. I had thought it.
The following morning, we left the castle discreetly.
I was wearing black boots that reached my knees, fitted black pants and a skin-tight black halter-top. (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com) I had two long slim swords slid into my belt with a few small knives slipped into m y boots. My hair was in a braid, falling down my back, and I wore a black jacket which was also filled with poison-tipped little daggers.
Kian, on the other hand, looked incredibly handsome; in black pants, boots, top and jacket. He was carrying two large bags and refused to allow me to carry anything extra. He had a sword, a crossbow, and a few other weapons on him too. We were equipped with whatever we may need from lightweight food for Kian, I would stick to blood alone, to antidotes to poisons just i n case, and poisons that could be used against Fae.
The weather was rather warm as the day went by. I removed my jacket, feeling Kian’s intense gaze burn into my bareback.
“Like the view?” I teased, placing a hand on my ass.
“Like is a fucking understatement.” His deep, sexy reply came.
I smiled faintly as we continued walking. To start, we had run as fast as we could, putting plenty of distance between us and both the castle and the main city.
When I had asked why he didn’t shift, he muttered something about not trusting Thanatos around me. I really think he needed to trust his wolf a little more, I could handle myself perfectly well. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
We had continued on, not missing that the further away from the centre of the kingdom we got, the emptier the land became. We even came across a few burned down towns and many that had become ghost towns, with their people heading to the capital and to safer places.
“It’s been eleven hours since we left. We‘ve travelled pretty far. Let’s take a break.” Kian said, looking down at the forest that was looming in the distance. From our position on the hill, we could see the area around us clearly.
The dense forest covered a large part of the border, and once we passed it, we had a river to cross before reaching the mountains. It was past these mountains that we would cross over into Elandori.
That part would be rather hard, considering we would probably be intercepted. I only had the words in the elven tongue that Orrian told me to use if I ever needed passage to his kingdom. I didn’t know their meaning, but I hoped they worked. I was leading Kian into something with just my words, and by all means, I didn’t want to let him down.
“Is it safe to? What about patrols?” I asked, looking around.
Kian placed the supplies down by a tree and looked over at me.
“They won’t come around here. Making it through these forests is almost impossible. Besides, (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com) this part of the kingdom has been emptied. The patrols are set to the east. If anything comes from the forest, they wouldn’t make it far.” Kian murmured.
“I see…” I sighed softly, the weight of the situation and this quest weighing on my shoulders.
“When we reach those trees, I intend to shift and run through the forest until we reach the other side.” He said quietly.
“But Kian, isn’t it vast? Can we really make it through by just-”
He placed a finger on my lips, spinning me into his arms. “I’m an Alpha, my little she-devil, and I assure you I have the stamina of many wolves combined. Travelling alone in these woods is easier, hence how the fae are entering. I’d have crossed many borders in a short time. We will take a break here and then find somewhere to stay for tonight. (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com)Tomorrow at dawn we will enter the forest and I doubt we will get proper sleep after that.” He said, before kissing me sensually.
I nodded when we broke apart. I trusted him. This was his land and he knew it better than I did. If he said he’d be able to, then I knew he would.
“So, we have the entire afternoon to find shelter and rest.” I said, more to myself, as I scanned the area. There were a few hills, bushes and trees. Then in the distance, I could make out some buildings. “There’s a town not far out, should we go there?”
Kian looked at me before nodding.
“Our eyes aren’t as good as a vampire’s, but that would be the home of the Jade Oak Pack.” He said, his hand squeezing my ass.
“Then shall we go there?”
“Sure…”
“What’s wrong?” I asked, looking into his eyes concerned.
“Thanatos wants to spend time with you… and I’m to shift tomorrow. I’d rather he does it before then… but I don’t know.”
“Really, Kian? Do you think I can’t handle him? I am Morgana-”
“Araton, my fucking incredible mate and future queen of Clair De Lune, you can handle him.” He finished off for me.
I smiled proudly.
“See you’re learning, and just like I handled you, I can handle him.” I said cupping his face.
That frown on his face was extremely deep, I knew he was concerned.
“Trust me.” I whispered softly.
He sighed, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me against his firm chest, before he kissed my shoulder softly.(This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com) I sighed softly nuzzling my nose against his neck.
“I do, it’s him I don’t trust.” He murmured planting kisses up my shoulder and onto my neck.
“Relax, we will be fine.” I said, although it was still something I couldn’t wrap my head around
thumb rubbing over my lips.
“If you do decide to have fun, make sure he doesn’t push you more than you want.” He said quietly, making my eyes fly open and my cheeks burn.
“What! I mean, isn’t that… Isn’t that…” For once I couldn’t form the words, despite the nervous butterflies that had already settled in my stomach.
He smirked, cocking a brow.
“He’s a part of me and you are tied to him as well as you are to me. I assure you, we are both very different in many ways.” He squeezed my ass before delivering another tap to it. He definitely liked my ass.
I bit my lip, clinging on to his shirt tightly. God, he was so damn sexy.
Something told me meeting Thanatos was going to be far from boring…
The town where the Jade Oak Pack once resided was one of the few that had been cleared out before they had been attacked.
“Are we just going to break in?” I asked as we stopped outside a large inn in the ghost town.
“I’m the king, sunshine, I own the entire fucking place.” Kian said breaking open a lock on one of the doors before entering the inn.
A pleasant scent of strawberries and camomile filled my nose, and I inhaled deeply. It was clear they had cleaned and locked up before going.
“I don’t think they would like it if we just came in like this.”
“We aren’t going to fucking ruin the place.” Kian remarked, locking the door.
I looked around; the setting sun was peeping through the gaps in the windows, casting a pleasant glow around the large hall. If I didn’t know the truth, I would never have thought that such a peaceful place had been deserted due to the threat of war.
After searching around, he found a bunch of keys and led the way through the halls and up the stairs. (This novel will be daily updtaed at www.noveljar.com) I shook my head, he really had no care that we
were breaking in. He stopped outside one of the doors and checked the number on the keys before trying one.
It clicked and he pushed the door open, letting me enter first. I looked around the room. It was simple yet extremely welcoming, or perhaps after all that running, I was just tired.
The floors were wooden floorboards and the walls were covered with floral wallpaper. A large bed sat to one side of the room, and there was a vanity table with a stool. Save that, the only other things in the room were the small table by the bed, a small window with the curtains drawn and a small door that Kian opened and looked inside.
“There’s toiletries and towels. Run a bath, I’ll join you after I go see if there’s any food that we can have and save the one we have packed.” He said.
I smiled, oh a bath sounded good!
“Perfect, don’t take too long, I’ll be waiting.” I whispered.
He kissed me passionately, sending off a wave of sparks through me before leaving the room. I entered the bathroom, looking around. It was clean and welcoming, with wooden floors, panelled walls and a decent sized tub.
I looked at the toiletries that sat on the shelf in small travel-size bottles, selecting two bubble bath ones and adding them to the water before I began to undress. I heard the bedroom door open, and Kian’s familiar scent filled my nose, just as I had peeled off my trousers. I turned when I heard the door being pushed open wide.
My heart skipped a beat when I looked at the man before me. A sexy smirk curled at the corner of his lips, his arms crossed over his muscular chest as he leaned against the door frame, his eyes blazing
gold and a pout settled on that handsome face of his. His entire demeanour was different, and I knew before he even spoke that this wasn’t Kian.
“I was a little impatient to wait any longer, I hope you don’t mind.” Thanatos’ deep sexy voice came, before a devilish smirk crossed his face as his eyes raked over my body and a glint of pure carnal hunger burned in his eyes. “Hello, my beautiful little mate.”
