Chapter 335
In the dim light, Eloise nestled in his embrace. Her cheek rested against his belly. This was a profoundly intimate cuddle. However, she was deeply distressed.
After all they had been through, she had forgotten what it was like to love him. She was immersed in her own world, thinking that if she took up the roles of wife and mother well, they would return to their old times, but she never really moved
on.
Harvey held her all along, patting her gently.
Later, they had dinner. Eloise, worried about their kids, wanted to go home. Harvey turned off the lights, holding her on the couch. Their bodies pressed together, close enough for her to catch the faint smell of tobacco on him.
His voice was husky. "Eloise, let me tell you about the past."
This apartment carried many of their stories. Beautiful or not, he wanted to hear them all.
Eloise leaned against his chest, whispering, "You've read that diary countless times, haven't you? You must know it by heart."
Harvey chuckled lightly. He bowed his head to look at her, his nose touching hers. "Do you know why I fell for you?"
Eloise shook her head lightly. She really didn't know.
Harvey gently caressed her delicate face. His voice was huskier. "Back then, I was in the States, fighting a lawsuit. Before returning, I found out I had a wife. I looked up your info, roughly knowing how we met. But, I couldn't quite accept that I was married... During those days, I thought about how to let you go. But when I returned and saw you at the airport..."
"I didn't intentionally remember your face, but at the airport, I recognized you at first glance."
Eloise asked him why.
He chuckled. His lips barely brushed against hers as he said, "Because you're beautiful. I'm not easily swayed, but when I saw you pregnant, I was sure that if I had a wife, she would look exactly like you."
Eloise always matched his aesthetic sense, both before and after his amnesia.
He admitted he was initially attracted to her physically, which was why they ended up as husband and wife so easily. After all, visual attraction is the first step in any romantic relationship. He didn't shield Eloise from this truth.
He truly fell for her after she signed the divorce papers, after he found her diary and chased her to the cemetery, after she put on the wedding ring. That moment was a huge shock to him...
From then on, he feared losing her.
He shared many of his thoughts and emotions, not knowing if Eloise was
listening. By the time he looked down, she had fallen asleep in his arms. Her face was peaceful and serene.
Harvey kissed her lips lightly, whispering, "Goodnight."
The next morning.
He took her back to the villa, tidying everything up before the kids woke up. Everything went as usual.
After breakfast, Linda climbed into the car. She carried a small box filled with cherry tomatoes, intending to share them with Luca.
In the hall, Harvey nipped Eloise's ear, whispering, "Go change your clothes." Eloise hesitated.
He leaned in for a kiss. His eyes were deep and inscrutable. Eventually, Eloise went upstairs to change, joining him in taking Linda to the kindergarten.noveldrama
Once they reached the kindergarten, Linda unbuckled her seat belt and hopped out.
Luca was lining up. He was cute, so all the little girls were willing to line up before and after him. Linda ran over and boldly cut in line.
Luca held her by the arm, guiding her to stand properly. He then went to the end of the line, and he took her backpack and cherry tomatoes.
Linda, who was initially upset, now beamed with joy. Walking with her head held high, her brown curls were bouncing.
A rare smile crossed Eloise's face. She leaned against Harvey, whispering lightly, "Linda is so much like you."
Harvey gently slung his arm around her shoulder. After getting in the car, he buckled up and turned to look at her.
Eloise smiled faintly. "I promised, and I won't back out."
Harvey ran his fingers through her brown hair, pulling her close to lean against him, whispering, "Eloise, that's not what I meant."
Eloise was depressed. She needed a healthy mindset. He feared she would misunderstand.
Eloise gently pushed him away, sitting up straight. Her cheeks flushed. "I know."
Harvey looked at her intensely. In recent days, he was always in fear of loss. He really suspected that the doctor had made a mistake. He, not Eloise, was the one who was really sick.
Upon reaching the clinic, it was their appointment time. Harvey brought Eloise in. The doctor asked the couple some routine questions and then asked Harvey to step out for a private conversation with Eloise.
The doctor was gentle. She didn't probe into Eloise's privacy. She just let her vent. Whatever was said would not reach Harvey without her consent.
In the dim light and comfortable chair, Eloise gradually relaxed, quietly sharing her feelings about Harvey with the doctor.
"My husband lost five years of memories.
"I know he likes me. But maybe because of too many disappointments, I could not easily accept his kindness. I always feel that when I let down my guard and love him again, misfortune and betrayal will once again befall me.
"He helped a woman I really disliked. I generously forgave him, even actively assuming responsibility... thought that I was doing well, that I wouldn't care about the past. But whenever we make love, the faces of Joan and Monika would flash in my mind. I would always think, I was not his first choice. If Joan and Monika were good girls, would our marriage still hold?
"Doctor, I don't believe he loves me.
"Our sex life is in trouble. When I realized this, I found it hard to accept him. When
he gets close to me, my body instinctively repels him..."
The doctor asked softly, "How often do you two havr sex in a month?"
Eloise answered with difficulty, "Once in a while."
The doctor fell silent.
Eloise looked up. Her tears were trickling down. She was somewhat agitated. "I don't even know who to blame."
...
The doctor gently pressed her, soothingly saying, “Mrs. Horigan, that's all in the past."
Under her consolation, Eloise gradually calmed down.
The doctor asked her to take a short nap. After Eloise fell asleep, the doctor stepped out.
Harvey was standing at the door. His face was expressionless. But seeing the doctor come out, he quickly approached. "Where's my wife?"
The doctor maintained Eloise's
confidentiality. She quietly discussed with Harvey, "Mrs. Horigan is under a lot of stress. She's trying to be perfect, but there are many unresolved issues between you two. You both need to open up and work through these."
"Is there a way out?"
The doctor looked at him and said softly, "I'll prescribe some medication. for her initially. Once her condition improves, you could
consider trying for another babel no
Being attentive to her during the
pregnancy might just improve your relationship."
Harvey nodded. The doctor hesitated before adding, "Try to ensure she relaxes,
and don't confine her to the home."
Harvey was taken aback slightly.
What do you think?
