Chapter 904
Seeing Yvette's guilty expression, Xavier offered her a gentle smile. "It doesn't hurt at all. They're just minor injuries. I'll be fine in no time," he said assuringly.
How could they be minor injuries? From Xavier's expression, it was clear that he was far more hurt than he let on.
Yvette's guilt only deepened. She stepped out of the room and instructed the guards to fetch the special ointment she had developed. Her medicine was far more potent than the usual remedies and could accelerate the healing process significantly.
Wilson knew that without Xavier's help earlier, their escape wouldn't have gone nearly as smoothly.
His gaze shifted to Xavier, and he spoke in a deep voice. "Thanks for your help this time. Consider it a favor I owe you. If you ever need anything, just ask—"
"Hah!" Xavier glanced at Wilson coldly as he cut him off, scoffing with a mocking tone. "I wasn't helping you. I was helping Yvie. Don't flatter yourself."
The room's temperature seemed to plummet instantly, sending a shiver through everyone present.noveldrama
Standing to the side, Samuel and the others quickly averted their gazes, not daring to make a sound. They could only inwardly sigh. It's true what they said— when rivals met, sparks flew!
Wilson's eyes narrowed slightly, a dangerous glint flickering within them. He responded slowly, enunciating each word with deliberate calm.
"I am Yvie's fiancé. We are one and the same. If you're helping Yvie, you're helping me."
The emphasis on the word fiancé made Xavier's face darken in an instant.
Soon, the guard returned with the ointment. Yvette took the medicine and stepped back into the room, immediately sensing the strange atmosphere hanging in the air.
She blinked and looked between the two men, but their expressions gave nothing away.
Meanwhile, Samuel, having witnessed everything, couldn't help but sigh to himself.
He marveled at the speed with which Wilson and Xavier hid their hostility! Just moments ago, they were locked in a fierce standoff, the tension thick in the air. But the second Yvette walked back in, they both acted like nothing happened.
Yvette turned to Xavier and said, "This ointment is very effective for external wounds. Apply it three times tomorrow."
Xavier was always gentle and calm in front of Yvette. He smiled brightly, exuding a warm and refined air.
"Alright, Yvie. I'll remember."
Wilson's deep magnetic voice was heard right after. "Yvie, drink your medicine first."
"Okay." Yvette nodded obediently and quickly drank the medicine just as Theodore walked in with long strides.
"Mr. Maximillian." Yvette bit her
lower lip and lowered her head. "It was wrong of me to leave without telling you. I will accept any
ment."
Theodore was initially full of anger, but as he looked at her pale face, his heart softened. He couldn't bring himself to scold her harshly.
Standing beside Yvette, Wilson also greeted Theodore with respect, knowing full well that the man didn't favor him.
Theodore's icy stare bore into Wilson. Taking the cue, Wilson offered, "Yvie, you can talk with Mr. Maximillian. I'll wait for you outside."
At least Wilson knew how to read the room. Theodore scoffed before focusing on the matter at hand.
His expression turned serious as he
said, "Yvie, the side effects of the
drug were only temporarily suppressed. They will return, and to make matters worse, you were injected with a catalyst today. Each time the side effects hit, the pain will only get worse."
What do you think?
