Chapter 406
Chapter 406
It was indeed strange that his sister was now looking after his brother-in-law.
Cooper sent another text, [Did you drug Andre or something?]
Andre, who was peeping at it, couldn’t help but smirk.
Mia replied, [No need for drugs. I could charm him to lose his consciousness in a minute.]”
Cooper answered, [You are really shameless. I don’t know what to say.]
Mia seemed puzzled. [Have you been taking lessons from Molly?] She was so out of her depth with the
insults being thrown at her.
It was already eleven o’clock. Andre couldn’t pretend anymore. He took away his wife’s phone from
behind.
“Huh?” Mia looked up, following the direction of the phone. Her bright, shiny eyes reminded Andre of a
glass globe filled with water, exceptionally adorable. She tried to reach for the phone, only to find that
her husband, who was supposed to be asleep, was now wide awake.
“Honey, was I disturbing you with my chatting?”
Andre, holding his wife’s phone in one hand, texted Cooper, [Focus on your studies. I’ll put your sister
to bed first.]
[Did my sister wake you up with her nonsense?]
Mia stretched her arm to grab the phone. “Give me the phone, honey. I’ll shut him up with one last
message and then go to sleep. Cooper says I’m annoying; I won’t be able to sleep if I don’t retaliate.”
Andre’s arms were longer, so he simply raised the phone out of her reach. He texted, [If you can’t beat
your sister, don’t try to mimic Molly’s sharp tongue. Once she gives birth, I won’t be able to control her
anymore.]
Then he pressed send.
Satisfied, Mia withdrew her arm back under the blanket. “Exactly, he is bullying me because I am
pregnant and can’t fight back.”
Andre patted her shoulder. “Close your eyes. Let’s sleep.”
In time, Mia snuggled into her husband’s arms. Her small face was pressing against his body, and soon
her breathing became steady. Only then did Andre allow himself to fall asleep.
The following weekend, Leo made a surprise visit. “Where’s Andre?” Mia simply pointed upstairs.
Leo hastily climbed the stairs three at a time to find Andre. Mia and Molly exchanged puzzled glances.
“What’s up?”
“I have no clue.”
Naomi, noticing the two girls’ growing curiosity, admonished, “Both of you, sit properly in the living
room.”
The curious sisters huddled together, whispering between themselves.
Leo informed Andre, “Andre, the test results are in. There’s no brain damage; all their vitals are
normal.”
Leo handed over the data to Andre. “They’re faking it. I listened to Molly’s advice and threw a snake at
them. Their instinctive reactions can’t lie. Chad watched the video too, and he agrees they’re play-
acting.”
Leo also handed over the video for Andre to inspect. In the video, the father and son seemed initially
frightened by the snake, but a moment later, they continued to wave their sleeves around to keep the
snake at bay.
Leo showed another video to Andre. “This is how actual patients react to a snake.”
In the video, the real patients chased after the snake fearlessly, even trying to catch it, showing no fear.
They seemed oblivious to the fact that it was a snake.
The difference was glaring.
Leo had tried all day to get them to talk, but failed that. Therefore, he came back to inform Andre.
“Andre, they’re scared of you. Could you try to intimidate them?”
Andre put down the documents he was reading. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What could have
happened to these two that they had to feign madness to avoid trouble?
“Leo, tell Mia and Molly about this.”
“What?” Leo couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Wasn’t Andre always worried about the three of
them teaming up? All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Andre had to admit, when the three of them joined forces, they were a formidable team. When he
couldn’t think of something, his wife probably already had a solution.
Andre instructed his nephew. “Don’t let them know that I asked you to tell them.”
Leo speculated, “Andre, are you afraid Mia will get a big head if she finds out she can help you solve
tough issues?”
If Mia knew she was so useful that she could help her husband solve difficult problems, she’d strut
around like she owned the place.
Andre nodded.
Last time, Molly suggested using a snake, which left the two men terrified. He wondered what other
tricks the women had up their sleeves.
Leo, having received his uncle’s secret instructions, went downstairs. Mia and Molly gestured for him to
come over.
Leo played along, pretending to ignore them. He had known these two for over a decade; he knew how
clever they were. If he wanted to fool them, he’d have to make it convincing.
Their increased curiosity only made the girls more determined.
Seizing the opportunity while Naomi was away, Leo was cornered in the backyard.
“What did you talk about with my husband?” Mia asked.
Leo feigned reluctance. “My uncle told me not to tell you.”
“Quit playing. When have you ever kept anything from us?” Mia continued, “Is it about the Walton
family or the Mastin family?”
Molly leaned in. Her arm was resting on Leo’s shoulder. “Leo, we haven’t settled the score about you
pairing me with Chad. If I tell my Hanson that you orchestrated this match, will he beat you to death?”
“Ok, that’s enough pretending. Time to spill,” Leo thought.
Then, just as the sisters thought they had squeezed the news out of him, Leo pulled out his phone and
relayed the same information he had given Andre.
Molly, realizing her usual tactics weren’t working, reflected, “Seems like I’ve been too soft.”
Leo sat on a chair, with Mia’s arm resting on his left shoulder and Molly’s on his right. The two girls
watched the video, received the data, and began brainstorming.
In the study on the third floor, a man stood looking at the three figures. There was a slight smile playing
at the corners of his mouth.
Molly said, “What about hiring a stripper to dance in front of them? See how they react?”
Mia questioned, “Do you want to get arrested by Chad?”
Molly scratched her ear. “Then how about getting a giant dog to scare them?”
Mia said, “You still want to get arrested by Chad.”
Molly turned to her friend. “I understood the stripper part, but why would Chad arrest me for the
Mastiff?”
Mia explained, “They are highly aggressive. If one can’t control it and it injures someone, do you think
Chad won’t arrest you?”
Molly casually patted Leo’s collarbone with the hand resting on his shoulder. “Leo, why are you so
quiet? I feel like you’re here because Mia and I can come up with ideas.”
Leo, who nearly spilled the beans, said, “Didn’t you two want to know? Why do you think I ask you two
to give ideas?”
Mia pondered on a plan that could make the duo stop playing dumb without endangering their lives.
“What do you think? Are they afraid of inanimate objects as much as living ones?” Mia suddenly tossed
out such a question.
Leo and Molly looked at her simultaneously.
