Chapter 920 Poisoned Blood Of The Heart
Chapter 920 Poisoned Blood Of The Heart
What does that b*tch, Bailey, mean by this? She promised to come herself, so why did Zeke end up being the one who showed up? Isn't she afraid I'll publicize the confidential documents in my possession if she angers me, dragging the entire Hoffman family down with me? Isn't she afraid her disciple will turn against her and bear a lifelong grudge against her?
“We need to break out of here. Quick, get us out! Hurry and think of a way to protect me and help me escape. I can't meet Zeke. I have a bad feeling. I'm afraid I might not survive if I meet him tonight.”
The man in black looked a little troubled as he said, “Ms. Shurmer, you only hired ten of us. With our capabilities, we can't even get out of this small wooden cabin, let alone protect you as you escape.”
“You useless piece of trash!” Zoey shouted angrily. Then, she aimed a kick at him and sent him flying three meters away.
She strode swiftly to the window. Her heart dropped abruptly as she fixed her eyes on the moving figures in the hazy moonlight.
The entire resort is now completely surrounded. I can't escape even if I have wings. D*mn you, Bailey! I can't believe your guts. How dare you? Utterly enraged, she lost all reason and was akin to a provoked wild beast. She glared at the moving figures outside with reddened eyes, and a fierce glint flashed across them.
Bailey, don't think you can escape your doom by sending Zeke here. I've said it before. Even if I die, I'll drag you down with me. And even if I fail to lay a finger on you, I'll kill your disciple so she can keep me company in death!
With that thought in mind, she let her gaze fall upon the brocade box inside the wall's hidden compartment.
“Get out!” she yelled at the man in black inside the room.
He was scared stiff by the aura of death that surrounded her. Driven by a primal instinct to survive, he quickly stumbled his way out of the cabin.
After watching him stagger away, Zoey casually opened the medicine box on the shelf, took out a syringe, and plunged it into her chest.
A wave of excruciating pain swept over her, forcing her to let out a couple of low growls.
She was drawing blood of the heart.
Before long, she had drawn half a syringe of black blood.
That jerk, Kurt, has turned me into a poisonous person. If someone were to ask where the poison is the most potent in my body, I'd say it's undoubtedly the blood of the heart. If I smear this blood onto that memory card, the poison will immediately seep into the bloodstream of anyone who touches it through their pores. While it won't result in instant death, it's unlikely they'll live for more than another three to five days. Moreover, the toxin has mutated inside my body, producing a new strain of poison. Even Kurt's antidote will prove futile. I'll give Zeke the memory card when he comes looking for me. If he doesn't open the box, the person who'll touch the card inside will be Bailey or Juliana. I'll never forget that he was the one who drove me out of our house. He played a significant role in how I ended up in the situation I'm in now.
A ferocious and vicious smile gradually spread across her contorted face as that thought crossed her mind.
After pulling the syringe out of her chest, she quickly took the memory card and dripped the blood in the syringe onto it.
There was no need to soak it or let the blood seep in. A tiny drop was sufficient, and the poison on the card would be enough to claim countless lives.
Once everything was done and the stench of blood in the room had dissipated, the steady rhythm of footsteps sounded on the path outside.
Through the window, Zoey could vaguely make out a tall and slender figure walking over from the shadows.
Although the light outside was dim, she could clearly see the person's appearance.
It was indeed Zeke.
Staring at the man she had thought to be her brother for over twenty years and sensing the cold, murderous aura radiating from him, she slowly clenched her fists. You tricked me, Bailey. Very well. Since you've chosen not to honor our agreement and come to meet your end, don't blame me for being ruthless and harming him.
Zeke entered the cabin in the blink of an eye.
He gazed at the face before him that was twisted into a ferocious expression and said icily, “Kicking you out of the house was meant to be a chance for you to mend your ways. I never expected that not only would you refuse to turn over a new leaf, but you'd even get worse. You're truly unrepentant. Look at yourself now. Do you even dare to go out and be seen? Is this what you want?”
Zoey burst out laughing. “Isn't this ghastly state of mine all thanks to you? Everyone else can criticize me except for the Shurmer family. If you hadn't kicked me out of the house, would I have ended up in this state? All of this is your fault, so what right do you have to point your finger at me and lecture me? I admit I've been outmatched today. You have me cornered, and there's nothing I can say. However, do me a favor and tell Bailey that even if I turn into a vengeful spirit, I won't spare her. The grudge between us will never end. Even in death, I'll curse her and make sure she never finds peace in this life or the next!”
His gaze suddenly darkened. This is the daughter the Shurmer family has poured much effort into raising for over twenty years. Who would've she'd have such a wicked nature? She's not even worthy of fetching shoes for Bay.
“Now that I'm here today, don't even think about playing any tricks. I'm here to cleanse the family of bad apples. If you don't want to suffer, you should take your own life.” After saying that, he drew a dagger from his waist and threw it in front of her.
She laughed loudly. As she did so, large teardrops began rolling down her cheeks from the corners of her eyes. “We shared a brother-sister bond for over twenty years. Don't you care about that at all? Can you really stand by and watch me die right before your eyes?” Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“You've wiped out all affection between us. Don't think you can use that to save your life. I'm determined to kill you tonight because if malicious people like you are left unchecked, they'll only make
many others suffer. To protect those innocent people from suffering unwarranted misfortune, I've no choice but to kill you today,” he replied frostily, a grim expression on his handsome face.
Zoey slowly lowered her head and stared at the dagger on the floor. “Are you really asking me to end my life in front of you, my brother?”
He furrowed his brows tightly, and his voice was cold as he uttered, “I'm not your brother, so don't call me that. It's disgusting.”
She was silent. Then, a peculiar smile tugged at the corners of her lips. Without saying anything, she turned and walked toward the hidden compartment, retrieving the box she had just placed inside.
Since they've shown no mercy, they can't blame me for doing this. I gave him a chance. If he agreed to let me leave tonight, I wouldn't target Bailey or Juliana. However, as she looked at the dagger gleaming coldly on the floor, she knew he would not do so. Death was inevitable that night.
In that case, she no longer had any reservations. If she had to die, she was determined to take one or two people down with her.
She walked up to Zeke with the box in her hand. Smiling sinisterly, she said, “Inside this box is something that concerns the Hoffman family's survival. Since you're here and considering that we used to be brother and sister, I'll give it to you.”
