Chapter 20 Annulment
It took a few seconds before Kian notice our presence. He looks stunned. I have not been able to move where I have been since we got here. I don’t even know what to do or what to think. All I know is that I am badly hurt. He hurt me again. What’s his excuse this time?
“M-Moo…” he called me stammering. My vision began to blur. He called me Moo without thinking about the meaning of that endearment that he kept on calling me. Moo. My only one.
Really, Kian? You are not a man of your words.
“Babe,” Jewel called Kian causing my chest to tighten even more. I shooked. Kian’s eyes were begging. He stepped closer to me so I also stepped back a few times. It was like we were the only three people here because those with us were quiet. Watching or maybe they are shocked as hell too.
“L-Let me explain.” He continue to step forward but I kept on moving backward. I don’t want to hear any of his excuses again. I turned around and glared at his friends. I shuddered in extreme frustration. If only I could slap them one by one.
“Y-You all planned this! To h-hurt me!” My voice trembled. Even my mouth was trembling because I tried not to choke because of the lump I’m feeling in my throat.
“Are you happy now?” I wanted to scream but a faint voice came out of my mouth. I feel weak, hurt, and bruised. They made me a fool! They all look shocked but when they recover, they shook their heads at the same time.
“Moo.”
There were arms that hugged me from behind.
“Get. Off. Me.” I forcefully untie his arms that are tightly wrapped around me. He holds on to me so tight like he doesn’t want to let me go. But at what he did. He already let go of me. My hand clung tightly to our relationship but he let go just for the other woman.
“Let me go, Kian…”
“No, Moo. I am not letting you go.”
In the word he omitted, there are two meanings.
Macy’s come up to us. I have forcibly pulled away from Kian. Because of his weakness, he let me go. He sat down on the ground.
“Please, Moo…”
I wiped away the tears before looking at him sharply. I don’t want him to see how deeply hurt I was.
“You know what? You are the biggest mistake I have ever made!” I also looked at Jewel seriously. “I hope your parents can be proud of you for what you did. It’s a waste of money they sent you to school.”
I took a quick step away. Macy was speechless. While Barbara was cursing but she was purely whispering that you thought she was a bee.
I heard Kian shouting my name. He tried to stop me but his woman stopped him and then his friends who I think are very happy now. I could barely see my feet because of the tears that had been pouring from my eyes.
“If I were you, I should have slapped them all,” Barbara said. I can feel her anger at what happened. I hope I am like her so I can do that.
“Let’s go back there. You’ll feel better when you slap them. Promise!”
I ignored her. All I want is to get out of this place. I want to go home. Lock myself in the room and cry all the pain I’m feeling now.
While in the taxi, I cried quietly. Macy put his arm around me as she comforted me.
“Just cry…” she whispered. Her soft voice made me cry even more.
“Where will I bring you?” asked the taxi driver.
“Do you want to go home?” Macy asked. I remember my parents. As much as possible I don’t want them to see me like this.
I shooked my head. Macy told the address to the driver. I don’t know if it’s at her house or Barbara’s house or wherever it is.
We had not even entered the gate of Macy’s house when someone called her.
“Oh, Sunny. Where are you going?” Macy asked.
“Club,” Macy’s friend replied, “Come on. Come with us! I already asked your Mommy and Daddy earlier.”
“That’s a good idea!” Barbara said, “That’s perfect, we have a friend here that just got brokenhearted. What, Beth? Let’s go?”
They are all waiting for my answer. I have never been to a bar before. But I didn’t want to ruin their night so I nodded. I also don’t want to go home first so maybe I should spend time at the bar. Maybe alcohol can numb my mind and body from the pain I am feeling right now.
We went into Macy’s house to change our clothes. She lends us clothes. The people she talked to earlier were downstairs waiting. It’s still early so there’s no need to be in hurry.
I took a shower first and put on the dress they chose for me. It was a black halter top dress that’s hugging my body. It is above the knee length. They help me with my make-up because I don’t know how to do it.
I was surprised when we entered the bar because of the loud music. The dancing light was intoxicating and the cigarette smoke was painful to the nose. The bodies of the people who danced on the dance floor were almost touching me. We chose the seats at the end of the bar because that was the only vacant.
Sunny ordered drinks. What they ordered is what I ordered. We are just the same age. They are also graduating but they studied at another university.
Sunny is Macy’s relative. Sunny is with her best friend, Yona. With their company, I almost forget that I recently caught my husband with someone else. That they tricked me with his gang. My eyes dimmed again.
“You’re going to drink that,” Yona said as she handed me a glass of wine. I took it and drink it straightly. But I also immediately winced when I tasted the mixture of bitterness and hotness. I almost fainted. They laughed.
“Swallow it!” they said laughing.
I have a hard time swallowing the drink. Why do some people love wine, when its taste is ugly?
I only drank a few shots. I don’t want to get drunk because I’m going home. I don’t want Mom to think I’m doing something bad.
I texted them earlier. I said I would go out with my friends to celebrate. Mom replied, she’s asking me if I’m with Kian. Looks like Kian hasn’t come home yet. He did not follow me either. He did not look for me. It looks like he doesn’t really care about me anymore.
I feel like crying again.
“It’s just a man,” Yona said. “Were you cheated? Replaced by someone else?”
I nodded slowly.
“Swap it for someone else too. Don’t waste your beauty on a man who doesn’t know your worth!” Sunny said.
“If he exchanges you for someone else, is he sure that he will forget you? You? you haven’t completely forgotten even when Eliot became your boyfriend…” There was a teasing melody in Sunny’s tone.Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
“Tsk … Don’t use a man to forget.” Sunny drank from his glass.
“Three or four should…” she added which made the whole group laugh.
“She’s married,” Macy whispered.
Yona sighed. She looks at me with disbelief. It’s like she’s saying why did I get married at a very young age? She shrugged.
“That’s why there is an annulment. So that when your relationship stops working, you can still separate in legal ways. You don’t deserve him,” Yona said before drinking again.
What she said was running through my mind until I said goodbye and go home. I am not drunk but I felt a little dizzy. Sunny and Yona offered to drive me home which I refused. I can do it. I took a taxi home. When I was left alone, I felt the pain again.
So when Mom opened the door for me, I immediately hugged her. I can’t stop crying either.
“Mom…” I cried to her. I don’t know how to say it.
“What happened?” She led me until we sat on the sofa. I did not let her go. I remained hugging her as I squeezed her shoulder.
I continued to cry as she stroked my hair and purely asked what had happened.
“What happened?” Dad asked. Perhaps he wondered why Mom hadn’t returned to their room right away, so he went downstairs.
“D-Dad…” I cried. I was preceded by crying so I could not speak.
“What happened?” His face and voice were serious. I shooked and cried even more. He attended to me and immediately hugged me.
“It hurts!” That’s all I’ve got to say. Daddy was silent while Mommy was confused about what had happened.
Dad let go and violently stood up. I was alarmed because I felt like he was going to do something bad.
“He’s stupid!” he shouted sharply. I hugged him. I shook. Even Mommy hugged Daddy.
When we all calmed down we sat quietly on the big sofa. I was in the middle of my parents without saying a word, but I could feel the pain they are now feeling for me.
“Please help me, Dad, Mom…” I begged them.
They looked at me while waiting for what I would say next.
“I want to file an annulment.”
Dad looked at me seriously. Mom, on the other hand, is now crying.
