Chapter 401 Staying At The Same Hotel
Chapter 401 Staying At The Same Hotel
Rachel left her table and headed for the entrance. As the sea breeze blew through the door, she felt the
chill all over her body. She threw her sweater on and her cap over her head. She crossed her arms and NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
walk out with a slouch, trying to stay warm.
It was normal for the wind to be stronger in places near the sea.
Looking down, she didn't see the man coming in and brushing past her as she was going through the
door. It was Hiram.
His eyes swept across the whole lobby the moment he walked inside like a hovering eagle. Luck wasn't
on his side failing to see the familiar figure of his wife.
Ever since Rachel ran away, he had developed the habit of checking any room or place, upon stepping
in, hopping to find her there.
"Hiram, let's have breakfast first. Then we can resume after." Carl said to Hiram, who was now standing
in the middle of the lobby. He had followed Hiram all the way from H City.
Hiram nodded his head slightly and walked to the dining hall followed by Carl.
Meanwhile, the fierce fight of the two women came to an end as Marlon left abruptly.
Regardless of how hot the battle was, Marlon stood up and walked towards the exit. He couldn't wait to
leave this place of trouble.
"Wait, Marlon Xi! Where are you going now?" Eve shouted from behind. She no longer wanted to fight
the other woman seeing that Marlon had left.
On the beach, Rachel took off her shoes and walked along the beach barefoot.
In the softness of the wet sand, she left a footprint after another, which were quickly washed away by
the waves.
Not long after, she noticed a man approaching her. She raised her head and realized that it was
Marlon.
"There you are! You're the most carefree person I have ever known. What can I say? I admire your
attitude toward life, and I myself couldn't do the same... as your boss!" Marlon continued, as Rachel
said nothing. He stretched himself for a while and then stripped off his clothes, revealing his well toned
body. He wanted to go for a morning swim.
"Yeah! I guess that you're torn between two women. No, let me correct myself. You're caught in a web
of many women, am I right?" Rachel mocked him. She bent over and picked up a shell from the sand.
Marlon was about to walk into the water but stopped when he heard what she said. He turned to look at
her,"Come on! Is that all you know about me? I am Marlon Xi! I am twenty-seven years old, and I claim
my right and freedom to go out with as many different girls as I want!" He declared as if giving a speech
to the world.
"Listen, my engagement with Eve was arranged by the elders of our families, not us. You know what?
I've never even slept with her! Why should I be stuck with her? It doesn't make any sense!"
He swept back his hair in the sea breeze and shook his head disapprovingly. He then turned around
and continued walking down to the water.
Glancing at him, Rachel shook her head with a smile on her face. She walked away from where the
waves were touching the sand and sat on a safe spot away from the splashing water. She started
playing with the shell she just picked up. It was beautiful with brown loops arranged in interesting rings
and patterns.
Suddenly, she noticed that a couple of men walked out of the hotel and felt something familiar about
them. But it was quite a distance and she dismissed her hunch about who those people might be. She
knew no one else in this city except Marlon, who was now swimming in the sea.
The sea breeze had grown stronger than when she first came outside and she stood up, preparing to
go back to her room at the hotel.
Seeing Rachel starting to walk towards the hotel, Marlon popped out from the water and shouted at
her,"Hey there! How could you leave like this? Did you forget that your boss was swimming in the sea
now?"
Rachel waved her hand to him and left. Nobody asked him to jump into the cold water so early in the
morning, only to show off his body.
When she returned to the hotel, she glanced at the dining hall and found that both Eve and the other
woman had gone. She guessed that they must be embarrassed to stay here after such a big fight.
When Marlon returned from his swim, Rachel went to his room to find him.
"What will you do next? Are we staying here? Since your beautiful partner has gone, I think we should
leave too. What do you think?" she asked.
Marlon was sitting on the sofa playing video games with his legs crossed. He replied without moving
his eyes from his game,"No, since we're already here, we are not leaving until Monday."
Seeing him busy with his game and utterly too distracted to talk to her, Rachel said,"Fine, call me if you
have anything. I'm going to take a nap in my room." Then she turned around and left.
When she returned to her room, she threw herself onto the bed, but she couldn't fall asleep. Having
nothing to do, she opened the TV.
At noon, she went to the dining hall to have lunch alone and then she went back to her room to take a
nap.
It was already dark outside when she woke up.
She stretched herself on the bed and sat up. She washed her face and put on her coat, planning to
take a walk outside. This vacation was so boring having nothing to do except sleeping and walking
around.
"It's all your fault, Carl! You're the one who should have taken care of everything regarding Rachel. She
couldn't have left without any clue if you did your job carefully. Look at Hiram. Does he look like a
happy person to you?" Chad complained.
"Chad, Do you think I am happy about it? To tell you the truth, I've never had a sound sleep since
Rachel left, and I'm feeling really awful, just like you!" Carl explained in defense.
"Awful? Do you have any idea what Hiram is feeling now? We're beating the air today and there isn't
any trace of Rachel. If I were Hiram, I would rather be drunk than be sober right now. At least, he could
forget about her, even for just a few moments," Chad replied.
"Please God, have mercy on this man! Please give Rachel back to him now! If she could come back to
Hiram safe and sound, I will sacrifice five years' of my life to you! No, ten years!" Carl yelled out a
prayer.
Chad and Carl were talking outside of Hiram's room. They had no idea that Rachel had heard their
entire conversation. She had just come out from her room and was going to the dining hall for dinner.
She almost ran into them, but she saw them far up ahead and she was able to go back and hide. She
stood against the wall to avoid them seeing her. She also felt herself nailed to the wall like piece of
wood.
'What's going on? Hiram is here in this hotel?'
'How did he know that I am here?'
Rachel's heart was beating wildly. She took a deep breath to pull her thoughts together. Then, up
against the wall, she took a look at them. Chad and Carl were standing in the middle of the hall and in
front of the door.
The elevator was at the end of this hall, and it was huge! Needless to say, if she wanted to go
downstairs, she had to walk by Hiram's room.
Rachel turned around and went back to her room right away. She closed the door behind her quietly.
She was lost in her thoughts, but her panicking heart told her that Hiram was also here, in the same
hotel, and on the same floor, to be specific.
It was all Marlon's idea. He said that he must stay at the best suite, and for the convenience of keeping
in touch, he also got one of the best suites for her.
But, she had never expected in a hundred years that Hiram would find his way to this far off coastal
town. Speed was really his asset, as he always said.
Right at that moment, her phone began to ring.
Extremely shocked, she almost threw it on the ground. Seeing that it was from Marlon, she took a
breath of relief and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Hello! What's up? Why are you gasping?" Marlon said over the phone and paused. Then he
continued,"Are you with someone now? Do you need some privacy?"
"What are you talking about? I've just returned from running! Tell me what this call was for!" Rachel
asked directly.
"Oh, how about having dinner with me later? I hate to have dinner alone!" Marlon admitted.
Rachel widened her eyes and held her breath upon his suggestion, saying,"No, I'm sorry, but I've had
my dinner already! And I'm running the bath water now. I'm going to take a bath. You have to eat your
dinner alone!
"What? Do you know what time it is now? It's too early to have dinner!" Marlon asked surprised
"Listen, I'm exhausted after a long run. I'm going to go to bed early and please don't call me at anytime
tonight!" Rachel replied firmly.
"Okay, fine! I'll leave you alone!" Marlon snapped back and hung up. 'What a weird woman!' he said to
himself.
Rachel has been walking back and forth in her room for over an hour, and she couldn't just sit there or
lie on the bed as if nothing happened.
Struggling in her thoughts bitterly, she finally made up her mind.
Since she had learned that he was also here, she wanted to see him in person because she never
stopped thinking of him.
Rachel reassured herself once more.
Then she refined her makeup in front of the mirror to make sure that she couldn't be recognized at one
glance. Satisfied with it, she opened the door of her room into the hall, with all her courage.
