Chapter 890 I Have Someone I Like

Terry, who saw everything, curled his lips. A flicker of viciousness flashed across his eyes. It seemed that Marlena was really fond of Joe. Such being the case, he could entrust Joe with certain tasks. Marlena was foolish, but her mother was not. From time to time, Tina was trying to trip him. He just needed to leave everything in Joe's care. For the sake of her daughter, Tina would not interfere.

"Marlena, I invited Mr. Joe here to see you. Seize the opportunity. Joe is a good man hard to come by."

He winked at her. Marlena, who never liked Terry, smiled at him, "I will."

August just stood there with his eyes low as if they were not talking about him. Besides him, Lucia did her best to suppress her jealousy. She reminded herself to focus on the mission and that she was disguised as August's sister. Still, she couldn't contain her emotions. Daryl quietly came over and stroked her back to comfort her. Lucia pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind and smiled at Daryl to show that she was fine.

Marlena insisted on showing him around. August expressed his dissatisfaction and annoyance but to no avail. Reluctant to see them leave like that, Lucia tried to follow but got intercepted by Marlena's bodyguards.

"Sorry, Miss Marlena is enjoying her time with Mr. Joe."

Lucia had to watch them leave. August turned back and gave her a reassuring look. Even so, jealousy was surging in her. Side by side, Marlena and August walked around the large manor. She tried to grab his arm, but August dodged. She didn't force him though.

At a garden, Marlena stopped in her tracks, snapped off a flower, came to his side, and gazed at him with affection.

August looked at the flower presented by the woman but refused to take it. The corners of his mouth slightly curved up. His eyes were filled with

sarcasm.

"Miss Marlena, as far as I remember, you seemed to be in another man's arms a few minutes ago, and now you say that you love me," he scoffed. "Your love is so cheap."

He was clear that it was horrible predation rather than love. Marlena treated every man the same way. She was not saddened or unnerved at all. The smile on her face remained sweet. She took the flowers back, fiddled with the delicate petals, and chuckled.

"They have nothing on you, Joe.'

August furrowed his brows and pursed his lips, unwilling to talk to this crazy woman.

Marlena continued, "Just so you know, you'll become the man of my life."

"I have someone I like," he said indifferently.
