Chapter 30 The Friendship Between the Three
“Mr. Byran, you don’t have to send me off. Halley wouldn’t dare to do anything to me in broad daylight.”
Amanda’s voice came from inside the car.
She hadn’t expected Iverson to be waiting for her outside the cafe.
“You think too much. I’m just passing here.”
“Come by?”
Amanda was taken aback: All right, it’s just wishful thinking on her part.
At this time, Jamie, who was driving in the front, suddenly asked, “By the way, Miss Jewell, where are you going?”
“Oh, I’m going to the SW Law Office.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Amanda realized something.
She hadn’t even said where she was going, so how could Iverson know they were going in the same direction?
But at this time, Iverson was leaning against the back of the chair with his arms crossed and eyes closed, looking as if nothing had happened.
Amanda swallowed her question in silence.
Iverson had always been unpredictable, and no one knew what he was thinking.
The car drove smoothly, leaving the tall buildings far behind.
Feeling bored, Amanda couldn’t help stealing glances at the man beside her.
His nose bridge was tall and straight, and his eyebrows were thick. His facial features seemed to have been meticulously carved, which made him look like a perfect model. Even if his appearance were put in the entertainment circle, he would be top-notch.
No wonder the female stars and the celebrities in Ducco all took fancy to him.
After all, he was rich and good-looking, and there was no scandal about him. He was a diamond bachelor.
“Miss Jewell, here we are.”
It was not until Jamie’s voice came from ahead that Amanda came to her senses.
Iverson seemed to have fallen asleep, and there was no movement along the way.
Amanda didn’t dare to wake him up. She thanked Jamie in a low voice and carefully got out of the car with her bag.
As she cracked the door, Iverson suddenly opened his eyes and grabbed her arm from behind. “Where are you going?”
Amanda was startled and stuttered as if she had done something wrong. “I… I’m going to see… see my lawyer.”
Iverson’s grip on her arm tightened slightly. He stared at her with icy eyes for a long time, trying to see through something from her.
Amanda was puzzled. “Are you all right?”
Iverson let go of her and resumed his usual indifference. “Tell me when you’re done talking to the lawyer.”
“Huh?”
Amanda was stunned for a moment. “Oh, okay.”
Although she didn’t know what Iverson meant, she still agreed.
“Then I’ll go first.”
“Umm.”
After watching Amanda get out of the car, Iverson raised his hand and rubbed his eyebrows. “Drive to the company.”
“Yes, by the way, the hospital called and said that Olinka’s fingers have been connected, and there is a great hope for her to recover in the future.”
Jamie hesitated before saying, “Mr. Byran, Olinka Fane has treated Miss Jewell so bad. Is this little bit of punishment enough?”
According to Iverson’s way of doing things, he had always liked to be ruthless and clear out all the barriers.
Not to mention a single finger of that woman, even if she were to disappear from Ducco, it would be a matter of a word from Mr. Byran.
But this time, Mr. Byran was showing mercy.
Iverson said calmly, “If we deal with them all, no one will bother Halley Sean, right?”
Jamie was taken aback.
Mr. Byran had thought out the best method to tackle the enemies!
That’s the so-called Mr. Byran!
Iverson’s handsome face was reflected in the rearview mirror. When he looked at the bustling streets outside the window, his eyes were always cold and distant.
Iverson frowned. He had fallen asleep in the car just now and had a dream.
On the other side, at SW Law Office, Amanda had just gotten out of the car when she ran into Patrick.
“Amanda.” Patrick waved at Amanda and glanced at the luxury car behind her out of his eye.
“Who sent you here?”
“A friend.” Amanda didn’t say much. “By the way, Patrick, have you read the information I sent you this morning?”
“Yes. Let’s go upstairs and talk.”
Patrick looked away and took Amanda upstairs to talk about the lawsuit.
“If I had known this would happen, I would have sent you home last night. How are you?”
“I’m fine, just a little injured.”
Patrick’s expression sank after seeing a corner of the gauze peeking out from under Amanda’s scarf. “Halley dares even to kidnap and threaten you. He must want to go to jail.”
“It’s not likely that he’ll be put in jail. He can push all the blame onto Olinka. At most, he’ll be detained for a few days. I don’t want the matter to blow up.”
“I know. I will strive for the biggest benefits for you.”
Suddenly, Patrick’s phone rang.
Patrick glanced at the caller ID and frowned. He then hung up the phone.
Amanda was so busy reading the files that she didn’t notice anything wrong.
After chatting for a while, the secretary knocked on the door. “Mr. Dolley, Miss Lewis is looking for you.”
Patrick’s expression changed. “I’m busy right now. Didn’t I tell you that the appointments have been canceled today?”
Just as the secretary felt wronged, Amanda glanced out the window. Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure and exclaimed, “Joleen?”
Patrick tried to stop Amanda, but she had already gone out.
Joleen was wearing a tight-fitting brown knitted dress outside of the office, and her hair was loosely tied behind her head. She looked very gentle and refined, holding a dessert box.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“Hey, darling. Why are you here?”
Amanda took Joleen’s hand in surprise. “We haven’t seen each other for almost two months. Every time I asked you out, you said you were busy with work, and now you came to deliver desserts to Patrick, didn’t you?”
Joleen blushed. “Don’t make fun of me. You’re the workaholic here.”
“Quick, come in.”
“Sure.” Amanda took Joleen into the office and said in a low voice, “You’re so into him now. You’ve come to his office.”
“Why are you here?”
Patrick’s voice sounded expressionlessly from within the office, causing Joleen’s expression to freeze.
Their eyes met. Both of them had ulterior motives.
Amanda hadn’t noticed anything, so she took the dessert box from Joleen’s hand. “Patrick, you’re too silly. Can’t you tell? Joleen is here to give you love desserts.”
Patrick knitted his brows. “I don’t like sweet food.”
The atmosphere became awkward all of a sudden.
Amanda was also stunned.
Patrick wasn’t someone who wouldn’t give others a face. Furthermore, the three of them had always been on good terms. What was going on today?
Joleen’s face paled, then she said with difficulty, “Can I tell you something?”
Amanda finally noticed that something was wrong between them. She said in a hurry, “You guys keep talking. I’ll go out first.”
“Amanda!”
Patrick tried to stop her, but she left in a hurry and closed the door behind her.
The sound of the door closing echoed throughout the room.
Facing the woman before him, Patrick finally lost all his patience. He took off his glasses and threw them on the table, impatiently saying, “Joleen, I already made myself clear to you yesterday, didn’t I?”
