Chapter 2186
Chapter 2186
Austin tried to be calm, but his voice was shaky. Mixed with his short breaths, it sounded unsettling.
Mike looked at him with widened eyes. “What did you say?”
“It's Rhea. She's missing!” he said, pointing toward the outhouse.
“What do you mean she’s missing?!” Mike spun around, surprised to see Alexander standing behind him.
Alexander only slept for a while and just woke up. He could not sleep well during this period because his family was not around, and so many bad things were happening.
Furthermore, he had just received the two babies yesterday. Nonetheless, replenishing his energy through short naps was enough. After washing up and changing, he went downstairs to check on the babies. That was when he heard what Austin said.
The latter gulped and stammered, “I-I went to see how Rhea was reacting to the virus, but she wasn’t there!”
“Are you sure?” Alexander asked, stepping forward.
Austin nodded repeatedly. “Yes! I looked many times, but there was no one!”
Alexander frowned, “I'll go check out the place.”
“I'll go with you,” Mike hastily said. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“You stay here to look after the babies. I'll go with Austin,” Alexander said, worried about the infants.
After hesitating, Mike yielded and sat back down while the other two went to the outhouse. Alexander opened the door without first peering in through the window, and they went in. Indeed, the house was empty.
Nothing remained on the spot Rhea usually sat. Alexander hurried over and felt the cushion. “It’s cold.”
“So she's been gone for some time?” Austin was dumbfounded. “But how's that possible? We locked the door. There's no secret passage here and no signs of the door being forced open. Also, we would have heard it if someone had tried to break her out.
“We have enough surveillance devices here to guard a bank! How'd she vanish just like that?” Austin found it incredible.
“Well, there must be an explanation.” Alexander felt the simple bed, which was cold to touch. It showed that Rhea had left for quite some time. However, it was a mystery when and how she left the place right under their nose. He frowned and walked around twice. When he was sure there were no other clues, he turned to leave.
“This makes no sense at all,” Austin muttered.
