Chapter 18 - Her First Crush
She sometimes felt bad whenever she came out as the villain in their story. Especially when her friends, including Honey, look at her like she's the one who did Lyken badly. She knows she doesn't have the right to feel offended, since it's her choice to not let them know the truth. But still, she can't help but feel sulky about it.
'I was hurt too. Why does it seem like Lyken was the only one aggrieved?'
Jada has something on her mind but she's not sure it will work. Tonight's plan will depend on Kristoff's reaction, so she'll see how it will turn out.
It's not as big as Lyken's surprise back then, but she still wanted him to feel hurt. Even if it's just a bit. Even if it's just an ant bite to him.
When she was walking towards Kristoff's car, she knew that someone was watching from her window. Glancing up, she saw Lyken standing there, right behind the curtain. If Kristoff reacts negatively, she'll see. If his reaction is positive, she'll go on, she'll take a gamble and take a bit of revenge.
Kristoff came to her with arms wide open. They hugged for a few seconds and when he let go, she kissed him on the lips instead of his cheek, like she used to. "Woah! That was fast!" he exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, I thought it was fine," pretending to be embarrassed.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Lyken's still hiding behind the curtain, so she was wishing hard that Kristoff would play along, though he has no idea of her plan. Thankfully, her genie granted that wish.
Kristoff pulled her closer to him and started kissing her softly. She suddenly felt tense, especially when she saw the curtain moving. Lyken has already left.
The problem is, Kristoff seemed to be enjoying the kiss. It's been four minutes and he still hasn't let go of her.
She was thankful when, after another minute, he finally loosened his hug on her before moving away. She just smiled at him and he did the same as he wiped the side of her lips. "Let's go?" Jada asked and he quickly nodded, opening the door of the car for her to go in. "Will it be okay if Honey and the rest of the group join us later? Same group you saw last time." "Yeah, of course," he answered without hesitation. "But we can still have dinner, right? Just the two of us?" he asked, trying to confirm.
"Yeah, definitely. They'd probably be late anyway since they still have to wait for Steve."
"Great!" he replied, then he started the engine of the car.
They headed to Tweedle Book for dinner. On their way in, they saw a few of their schoolmates right outside the café. Kristoff chatted with them for a bit before they went inside. Kristoff pulled a chair for her when they got to their table. After placing their orders, they started catching up.
"So how was modeling?" he started.
"It's fine, I'm enjoying it. I get to do what I want. It's a little tiresome considering the amount of travel, but that's fine too," smiling at him as she answered his question. "And your love life?" he asked straight out.
"I don't have one!" she laughed. "Not sure if I can have a love life while doing this because of the hectic schedule."
And that is the truth. Because of the number of gigs she accepts, she's out of the country most of the time. So how can she even have a boyfriend?
Kristoff just nodded at her, then his phone rang so he had to excuse himself. He was still outside when their orders arrived, so she had to wait for him before she could start eating.
He hasn't changed, he is still formal. He's now a businessman, despite being a psychology major. A certified bachelor.
He's only two years older than her, but his actions, the way he speaks, and the way he thinks, are so mature. He often sounds like he's a decade ahead of her.
If she were to consider her ideals, it would be none other than Kristoff. He's her exact type. That's probably why he was her first crush when she was in college.
Whenever she thinks about it, she still can't understand why she fell for that good-for-nothing-gorgeous-but-cheating Lyken. Yes, she's well aware that she can't stop herself from calling him gorgeous. Both Lyken and Kobe were known womanizers during college. According to the gossipmongers around the campus, they've been like that since they were freshmen. They make girls fall for them hard and eventually leave them once they spot their new target. There was even a time when they both had multiple girlfriends. Regardless of whether it's a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, no one can go past them. That's why they're the most popular among the varsities. Lyken was a known heartbreaker in a way that he could break up with the girl even if they'd only been together for a day. Once he sees a flaw, you're out.
That's how notorious he was. When it comes to him, you have to be perfect or, at least, you have to know how to hide your flaws perfectly to last at least a day with him.

Kobe, on the other hand, was used to having multiple girlfriends. What's weird was that some of his girlfriends were okay with the setup. He's the best when it comes to time management, they say. Before Honey became his girlfriend, he was dating a sophomore and a senior at the same time. All three of them even saw each other at the canteen one time, but they're fine with it.
But after Kobe got into a relationship with Honey, he changed and Jada was a living witness to that. She'd even tell him that Honey's his kryptonite.
Jada also knew of their plans to settle down. She doesn't know if they've told the rest of their friends, but Honey did tell her when she came back from France.
Her comments towards Kobe were obviously biased. But why not? He did change. He cheated on Honey once, but if it were for Jada, that wouldn't count as cheating.
It was the girl who kept following Kobe, she even tried drugging him. Then one time, at the bar, he suddenly kissed him. That was what Honey saw.
Honey confronted them right there and then, and the woman made it seem like Kobe allowed it to happen. They broke up but were reunited again after two months.
As for Lyken, she really thought she could change him too. Jada thought that she could make him loyal and faithful despite being a notorious womanizer, but she was wrong. Lyken was one big mistake. Instead of me changing him, it was he who changed her, from a good girl to a bad girl.
Jada's analysis of both men was interrupted when a girl approached Kristoff while he was on his way back to their table. Seeing her body language, she was obviously flirting with him. While talking to her date, she was even pointing at their table as her girlfriends waved at him. Then she saw Kristoff shaking his head while nodding toward their table.
The girl looked at Jada, eyed her from head to toe, then frowned. She then let go of him and Kristoff hurriedly walked towards their table.
"Do you know her?" she asked as soon as he sat down.
Shaking his head, he grabbed a tissue to wipe off his sweat, "No, she just approached me and asked if I could join them."
"Aw! You can join them after dinner, I won't mind," she teased, as he looked annoyed at what had happened.
"Nah. I'm content with my date tonight," he responded in a serious tone.
Jada couldn't stop herself from laughing until he eventually broke into a smile as well. "Let's eat, you're just hungry."
While eating, she noticed that he was staring at her from time to time. Creasing her forehead at the man, she pouted after drinking from her glass.
"Do I have sauce or dirt on my face?" she asked, but he just shook his head.
"I'm just happy that you're with me tonight," then he smiled. A smile that can easily melt any woman's heart.
"O-M-G! Such a player!" she snapped as she tapped on his arm. He just shook his head and smiled in return.
If she hadn't been traumatized by what Lyken did to her before, she'd probably say yes to Kristoff even before he asked. He seemed to be the ideal boyfriend for anyone. 'What a waste!' "How are you and Lyken, by the way?" he asked out of the blue, keeping his head bowed down, fiddling with his food.
Jada didn't expect that he'd ask about Lyken. She didn't even know that he was aware of their relationship. She doesn't think he even knew that Lyken came when he left last time.
She shrugged before answering, "We broke up on bad terms. But we're friends now, casual."
"Will I have a chance if I court you?" he asked slowly as if he wanted me to process each word carefully.
Jada was surprised, again. She didn't expect that. She shot her brows up, weighing if he was serious or not. As she looked at him, he just looked back at her, straight in the eyes, determined to hear her answer to his question. "Silly! I just told you, I'd have a hard time having a boyfriend because of my gig schedule. You'll have a hard time, in case. In fact, I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow!"
His lips turned slightly upside down as he nodded at her. He then let out a sigh before smiling faintly. She suddenly felt evil because of what she said.
"Hey, cheer up! I won't be modeling forever. Who knows, by the time I stop, you're still a bachelor. I'd make sure I'd be the one courting you."
His face lit up and her heart softened. His smile was so genuine, he was just so genuine. You can easily tell when he's faking it.
Jada reached out for his cheek and caressed it lightly. He held onto her hand and she automatically smiled. Not because it was all part of her plan, but because he had touched something inside her. Kristoff's smile alone made her feel like she wasn't angry at anything, at all. As if just for tonight, she doesn't want to be eaten by her anger with Lyken.
Just for tonight, she wanted to give herself the chance to be truly happy. Without thinking of revenge against anyone.
But despite that, she can only feel a piece of her heart celebrating. She still felt heavy inside and she still wanted to focus on avenging herself against the man who ruined her.
Despite Kristoff softening her heart, even just a bit, she still wanted to continue with her plans of revenge against Lyken. The man who hurt her so much and made her feel that she couldn't love anyone else again, ever.
