Shattered Illusions: Love, Lies, and Redemption

Chapter 838

He immediately gave a thumbs up, "Boss, you're looking as sharp and dashing as ever. Your wife is waiting for you, so it's best not to keep her waiting."

Remington was quite pleased with his assistant's response. As soon as the elevator doors slid open, he strode out confidently.

Meanwhile,

Lizetta hurried out of the Starlight Group building with Lillian trailing behind her, eager to ask questions.

"Lizetta, sorry about bumping into you back there at the elevator. It wasn't intentional. But do you know that guy we just saw? He looked exceptional, not your average person. Is he one of the executives at Starlight Group? What's your connection with him?" Lillian had dashed out of the elevator first and only realized Lizetta had bumped into someone when she turned back. That man, with his striking appearance and aura, was indeed unforgettable. Lillian couldn't shake off the feeling that she had seen him somewhere before.

"Just someone I know," Lizetta replied coolly, not keen on elaborating.

But Lillian wasn't satisfied and continued to probe.

"Our trip here seems pointless without even a chance to discuss business. We'll be the laughingstock when we return. If that man is an executive at Starlight Group, Lizetta, maybe you could ask him for a favor? It might just change things for us..." Lizetta was replying to Remington's WhatsApp message when she finally looked up at Lillian.

"I'll find a way to pursue the partnership."

Yet, Lillian snorted at her response.

However, she didn't want to bother Remington directly. She was determined to handle her own affairs without relying on him. She didn't believe in rejecting Remington on one hand and then seeking his help on the other.

"What can you possibly do? Didn't you see President Winters' attitude? It's obvious they've already chosen Glory Media. Our proposal probably went straight to the trash. If you hadn't upset Ms. West, we wouldn't have wasted our trip!"

Lillian felt slighted. Lizetta had only been in the department for two days, yet Laura had put her in charge of this project and had Lillian assist her. As a senior employee, Lillian felt Lizetta should have been more deferential. Instead, Lizetta had managed to offend Ms. West, causing both of them

embarrassment.

Lizetta recalled how Stella had deliberately targeted her, leading to their being escorted out by security.

"I'm sorry about what happened earlier. I'll try to talk to President Winters again," Lizetta reassured Lillian.

Lillian rolled her eyes. "I'll believe it when I see it. It's quitting time, and I'm off. You seem capable enough, so you probably don't need my help with this little issue." When they had come to the Starlight Group earlier, it was Lillian who had offered to drive Lizetta over.

After saying her piece, Lillian didn't wait for a response and left.

Lizetta wasn't bothered. She walked to the roadside to wait for Remington, and during the wait, she made another call to give further instructions. Elsewhere,

Remington had just signed two

urgent documents and was making his way to the parking lot with Cedric. Just as they reached his designated parking spot, they heard the rapid clicking of high heels approaching.

Remington paused, his hand on the car door, and his lips curved into a slight smile.

"Weren't we supposed to meet by the roadside? How come..."

He turned around with a smile, but before he could see clearly, the figure of the approaching woman stumbled towards him.
