Chapter 38
GINA'S POV
I slipped into a special dress that I had picked out myself. It was a tight black dress that hugged my curves in all the right places.
I smiled as I looked at myself in the mirror. I recalled the events at the tournament. I'll admit, I never expected Elise to be so strong. For a moment, I thought I was going to be embarrassed but then, I found a way to turn everything in my favour. Everyone looked at Elise like she was a monster and that was exactly what I wanted. Even our parents got mad at her. I loved it when I got my way.
I wore this dress so I'd see Jackson and hopefully, get something out of him. I had my eyes on am expensive set of diamond earrings that I wanted him to buy for me. This dress should do the trick. After what happened at the arena, Jackson was surely done with Elise. It was my turn now.
I made my way to Jackson's office with the sound of my heels echoing in the hallway. I plastered a charming smile on my face. I already had the perfect plan in my mind. By the time I was done with him, he wouldn't realize when he would write the cheque for me to purchase the earrings. The thought of it excited me.
When I reached his door, I took a deep breath and knocked gently. There was no response. I could hear his voice from inside. It sounded like he was talking to
someone.
I knocked again. He didn't answer so I opened the door and slipped inside. Jackson was on the phone, pacing up and down behind his desk. His face was masked with anger. I sat down in one of the leather chairs, crossing my legs slowly to draw his attention, but he didn't even glance my way. That's weird. He would be all over me by now.
"You can't be serious!" Jackson barked at the person on the other line. "How could you not have everything in place by now? I specifically told you—”
His conversation was heated. I couldn't really make out all the words but he talked about plans falling apart and a lack of communication. I watched him, feeling a bit impatient. Was my dress not good enough? Or was it my hair? I did everything perfectly just the way he liked it. I even put on his favourite red lipstick.
This wasn't how I'd planned it, but maybe I could use this to my advantage. Distract him, help him unwind.
An idea came into in my mind, one that made me grin wickedly. I stood up and slowly, I began to strip off my dress. Jackson's back was to me, still engrossed in his call. I walked over to him and slipped my hand around his waist.
"Gina, what the-" he started, but I cut him off, pressing myself against him and running my hand down his chest.
"Shh," I whispered into his ear. "You need to relax."
I reached for his belt and removed it in an instant. Jackson froze for a moment. I unbuttoned his pants, eyeing him seductively. Jackson then grabbed my wrist just as I was about to touch him. He ended his call instantly and turned to face me.
"What do you think you're doing?" he asked harshly.
I was a bit taken aback by his tone. Jackson had never spoken to me like this before. What's the matter?
"Helping you relax," I said, pouting a little. "You seem so tense."
He sighed and let go of my wrist. Instead of pulling me closer, he stepped back.
"Gina, stop. This isn't what I need right now."
I stared at him, stunned. This wasn't how it was supposed to go.
"Jackson, I thought—"
"Did you get any letters last week?" he interrupted.
"What?" I blinked in confusion "What letters?"
"Letters from the entertainment council. I sent them a letter to ask if we could host
the annual Luna ball and they sent an approval letter to you. Didn't you get it?"
I stared into space, trying to remember if I had received
something of the sort. I remembered one of the maids telling me about a
letter but I waved her off and told
her to deal with it.
"Gina! " Jackson snapped at me, making me flinch a little..
"I don't know, okay? Maybe. I think I received it but that has nothing to do with me.
That's the maid's job."
Jackson's eyes flared with anger. "The maid's job? Are you serious? Since when do maids handle official letters? You're supposed to handle all sensitive information. Did you even look at the letters?"
"Why are you being like this?" I snapped at him.
"Because," Jackson said through gritted teeth, you missed the memo informing us that we're hosting the annual Luna's gathering this weekend. It's a huge event, and didn't
nothing is ready because tnoveldrama
do your job. I didn't even know they approved it because the letter was directed to the Luna and not me."
I opened my mouth to defend myself, but no words came out.
How could I have missed something so important?
"I never had to worry about this with Elise," Jackson muttered, more to himself than to me. “If you can't handle your duties, maybe you should talk to her for
help."
"Are you serious?" I exploded, unable to hold back my anger. "You want me to go to Elise for help? After everything?"
Jackson didn't respond. He just shook his head. He had a disappointed expression on his face. I could see his body trembling from anger as well.
With a loud scream, he threw the books on his table to the floor.
"Fuck this!" he screamed.
He pushed past me and stormed out of the room, banging the door loudly behind
him.
What do you think?
