SAVED BY THE LYCAN KING (Elisa)

Chapter 24

ELISE'S POV

I was in the kitchen, busy scrubbing the pots from breakfast. My hands were hurting from the hot water. The other maids worked quietly around me. Every now and then, they would look at me and whisper. I didn't blame them.

Just a few days ago, I was the Luna of the pack and now, I was working with them. I guess life really does come at you fast. I was lost in thought, remembering the days when I used to be the Luna. I was the one giving orders instead of taking them. What did I do to deserve this?

My only offense was wanting to divorce Jackson, to leave my toxic marriage.

“ELISE!” I heard a voice scream my name. Instantly, I knew it was Gina..

Ms. Kelly appeared in the doorway "Elise, the Luna is calling for you," I flinched at the word "Luna."

It hurt every time I heard it. It reminded me of all I had lost. I used to be the Luna, and now, I was nothing more than a maid. Swallowing my pride, I nodded and dried my hands on a towel.

"Yes. I'll go right away." I walked through the familiar halls of the palace. Using my wolf senses, I traced her voice and realized it was coming from the dining hall.

As I approached the dining hall, my heart grew heavier. The doors were open, and I could see Gina sitting at the head of the table. My parents were there too. The sight of them made my stomach turn in fear. I had a feeling that this wouldn't go well.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped into the room. "You called for me, Gina?" I said. Gina's eyes lit up. She smiled lovingly at me

"Ah, Elise. There you are" she said "It's good to see you. How are you holding up?"

I looked at her confusedly "I'm fine, thank you"

I faced my parents and bowed my head "Good day, mother, father"

They ignored me. Their facial expressions were one of displeasure. They eyed me up and down.

"Well, if it isn't the disgrace of the family," . My father spoke next "How far you've fallen, Elise. From Luna to kitchen maid. We had such high hopes for you" The words hurt more than I cared to admit.

My eyes filled with tears, but I fought to keep them at bay.

"Oh father" Gina said in a sweet tone "You really shouldn't talk to Elise like that. It's not fair. She's already suffering enough"

"She deserves it!" my father snapped.

"No" Gina choked on a sob "It pains me to see her like this. She's my sister. I hate the fact she's being punished. It pains me every time. I even plan to talk to Jackson about it"

My mother looked at her with gleaming eyes "You're such a kind hearted soul"

Gina held my hand and looked at me lovingly "Anything for my sister"

I blinked repeatedly, looking at her in disbelief. In what alternate universe was Gina nice to me? That was when I realized - my parents were here. She was pretending. She always pretended to be a

sweetheart to my parents.

My mother glared at me "You see, Elise? That's how to be a good person. You

should consider yourself lucky that Gina is standing by you"

My father stood up "We'll be back in a few hours. We have a meeting with the council now"noveldrama

"Alright" Gina said with a sweet smile "See you soon"

Gina waved to them with a sweet smile as they left. As soon as they were gone, she faced me with a glare.

"I want sunny side eggs" she demanded "Now!"

There's the Gina I know.

"Of course"

I turned to leave, but Gina's voice stopped me.

"Oh, and Elise?" "Yes?" I asked, barely able to meet her gaze.

"Make sure they're perfect. I have very high standards." I nodded and hurried back to the kitchen.

The tears finally spilled over. I wiped them away angrily. Crying wouldn't help me now. I had to focus, had to keep going, even if it felt like I was being torn apart from the inside. I got to the kitchen and got started. I cracked the eggs into a pan, watching them sizzle.

My mind raced with thoughts of how my life had come to this. I was the Luna once, respected and loved. Now, I was a shadow of my former self. Now, I was serving the people who took everything from me. When the eggs were done, I placed them carefully on a plate and carried them back to the dining hall. Gina and my parents were laughing about something.

I placed the plate in front of Gina. "Here are your eggs, Luna."

She barely glanced at them before wrinkling her nose. "These aren't right," she

said.

She picked up the plate and threw it against the wall. The sound of shattering

glass echoed through the room. I looked at her in disbelief.

"Try again, Elise," she said with a smirk.
