Richest Mogul

Chapter 1660

Perhaps it was seeing Skylar that made Wendy feel a bit more appetite. The roast chicken was just what she needed, and paired with the freshly delivered pastries, it was the perfect combination.

After eating, she felt a noticeable lift in her mood.

"I heard from Simona that you've been busy lately," Wendy remarked casually.

Skylar nodded. "There was a batch of antiques I had to deal with, but I still made time for dinner with you. It's been a while, and I really wanted to catch up."

Even in the dim lighting of the small bistro, Skylar could tell Wendy had lost some weight. Her complexion looked pale and slightly fatigued.

Even without Wendy saying a word, Skylar could sense that something was off with her.

"I've been wanting to talk to you too. Work has been crazy lately. I've been on a project that required overtime almost every day. I'm glad we could both carve out time tonight."

Her eyes grew misty as she spoke, betraying her exhaustion and frustration. For a moment, she didn't know what to do.

There were things she knew she couldn't confide in Skylar or Simona. Some issues had to be faced and resolved on her own.

"Have you not been getting enough rest these past few days?" Skylar asked.

Wendy gave a small laugh, brushing it off lightly. "I've been pushing hard for the project bonus, so I've been putting in extra hours. Once it's over, I'll get some rest.

"Oh, and I almost forgot-I went to a mall the other day during lunch break and saw this toy. They say it's something kids like. Please give it to Vivian for me. It's been so long since I saw her, and I really miss her." Wendy had always liked children, especially Vivian. The little one was so soft and adorable, and she could always make Wendy feel better.

No matter what troubles she had, everything seemed to disappear when she was around Vivian.

"Vivian will love it. I'll be sure to thank you on her behalf," Skylar replied, accepting the toy.

The two continued to chat for a while longer, and time passed by quickly.

Wendy glanced at the clock. "Skylar, it's already past ten. We should head out."

"Alright," Skylar agreed.noveldrama

Skylar and Wendy stepped out of the bistro, and as they were about to part ways, Skylar turned to Wendy and asked seriously, "Is something bothering you? If anything's wrong, you know you can talk to me."

Skylar had family to rely on, but she

knew Wendy didn't have that luxury. Right now, the only one with her

these days was Aiken, but he was et

often busy, leaving little time to spend with her. Even though Wendy had been chatting with Skylar during dinner, Skylar could tell something was off.

Wendy wasn't in a good state.

But even now, as they were about to head home, Wendy hadn't said anything.

Wendy hesitated for a moment, then smiled and shook her head. "There's nothing wrong. It's just that work has been a bit overwhelming lately. Once I'm done with these few busy days, I'll request some time off and take a long break, maybe even go on a vacation."

"That's good to hear. Take care of yourself, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to reach out to me," Skylar replied, feeling at ease.

On the way home, Skylar kept thinking about Wendy's strange demeanor and began to worry. She decided to call Aiken.

However, it wasn't Aiken who

answered the phone. Instead, a

ve

woman picked up, her voice sweet as she said, "Hello, Aiken's phone is with me. If you need to reach him urgently, you can contact his assistant, or wait for him to return. 'bbe sure to pass along the message."

When the woman mentioned Aiken's name, the tone in her voice was filled with affection. It was clear to anyone that their relationship was more than just casual.

It was late, nearly 11:00 pm, and yet this woman had Aiken's phone. Everyone knew that a phone was a personal item, and while people might leave behind many things, they always kept their phones on them. Skylar was suddenly taken aback.

She wondered if Wendy's mood had something to do with this woman. Perhaps things weren't going well between her and Aiken.
