Chapter 721 Divorce Alone
Chapter 721 Divorce Alone
Sophia was really tired. Before, she couldn't sleep because there was too worried about Drake, but
now that she heard Drake was doing much better, she felt much more at ease.
She didn't lie on the chair for long before falling asleep.
During this time, she heard some voices in a daze, but couldn't wake up no matter how hard she tried.
After an unknown amount of time had passed, Sophia suddenly opened her eyes and stood up. "Any
news about Drake?"
Everyone looked at her in shock.
The look on their faces made Sophia feel uneasy. She looked at them and asked, "Why are you looking
at me like that? What's wrong?"
They still didn't speak. Sophia panicked, "Did something happen to Drake? Tell me! Don't hide anything
from me. Whatever the result is, I can accept it!"
Emmie couldn't hold back anymore and said, "Don't worry, sis; your husband is fine now."
"Fine?" Sophia looked incredulous.
"Yes, he's awake!" Brandon walked out from inside and said, "Sophia, why are you looking at me that
way? Are you doubting my medical skills?"
Sophia quickly changed her expression and said, "No way! Dr. Glass, thank you so much!"
"Don't mention it," Brandon reminded her gently, "but remember to keep your promise."
Sophia nodded firmly," Dr. Glass, please don't worry about it; since I promised you, I will definitely do
it."
Aria happened to walk over just then and asked,"Sis, what did you promise him?"
Without answering Aria's question, Sophia asked Brandon,"Can I go see him now?"
"You can, but remember to talk properly," Brandon warned her seriously.
"I know," replied Sophia as she walked inside.
The more Sophia kept it from her, the more suspicious Aria became. She had heard about Brandon's
things in the entertainment industry, and knew he must have caused trouble for Sophia. She needed to
find out what happened.
"Paul, you went with my sister. You must know what happened. What did this doctor ask for?"
Paul knew if he told Aria right now, it would cause chaos, maybe even affect Drake's condition.
If so, wouldn't all of Sophia's efforts be wasted?
"Aria, I can't say it. Please don't ask anymore."
"Why can't you tell me? If Sophia makes a decision that my brother doesn't agree with, what do you
think will happen?"
Paul moved his lips slightly but ultimately gave up.
"Paul, you should tell me before it's getting too late. If something happens..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Brandon walked up to them. "You must be Emma's daughter!"
Aria looked at him strangely since there were things she didn't know about.
"Why are you calling my mom by her name?"
Brandon smiled. "I never thought I'd meet you guys one day, but a quick reminder, if Sophia doesn't do
as I say, I can wake your brother up and kill him just as easily."
Aria replied nonchalantly, "If what you're doing makes my brother unhappy, he'd rather die."
"He wants to die but that doesn't mean everyone else wants him dead too. What do you say?"
Brandon's words successfully left Aria speechless.
In the hospital room...
Sophia saw Drake wake up and tears of joy streamed down her face as she rushed over to hold his
hand tightly.
"Drake!"
She tried not to let any tears fall but couldn't help it.
"Sophia, sorry for worrying you," Drake said with a smile on his face.
Sophia shook her head and said reassuringly,"It's okay; your waking up is more important than
anything else."
"Are you scared? You thought I wouldn't wake up again and won't be able to live together with you?"
Sophia nodded in agreement, "Drake, you know what? For me, it's okay that we are not living together
as long as you're alive."
"Don't talk nonsense! If I can't be with you, I'd rather die."
His words made her heart skip a beat. Sophia tried to persuade him,"Don't say that. You may not want
to live, but there are too many people who don' t want you to die. Do you understand? You're not just
living for me. You still have someone else you cherish."
Drake looked at her strangely, "Why are you saying all these things, Sophia?"
"Just because of this incident, I was inspired," Sophia explained calmly.
After talking for a while, the conversation came to an end when Drake fell asleep.
He had lost too much blood and needed rest to recover his strength. Sophia walked out from inside.
Aria quickly approached her, "Sis, what did you promise Dr. Glass?"
"It's nothing. Your brother has woken up. You can go back to sleep for a while."
"But I can't sleep. I just want to know what you promised him."
Sophia glanced at Paul, "Since Aria isn't going to sleep and you haven't slept much either, why don't
you go back? I have something to take care of outside."
Paul understood her and Aria realized something was off, "Where are you going? I'll come with you!"
"Our parents aren't here. Paul and I will leave later. If you also leave, your brother will be alone. He
needs to be taken care of by you."
Aria wanted to say something but Sophia patted her shoulder and left.
Aria was worried but didn't know what to say.
Sophia arrived at the civil affairs bureau alone. She remembered that she and Drake registered for a NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
marriage in Pinkerton.
She never thought she would come to the the civil affairs bureau in Sealand for a divorce by herself.
After explaining her situation to the staff there, they said, "Mrs. Riley, we cannot process your divorce
because firstly, your coming alone doesn't mean Mr. Riley's intention of getting a divorce; secondly if
we really do it and Mr. Riley comes over later on smashing our place, then we won't be able to afford
that."
Sophia couldn't force them, so she had no choice but find their leader.
The leader also had a headache after listening but Sophia convinced him, "Now that Drake is better, if I
don't keep my promise and anything happens again with his health, do you think you can afford it?"
"But..."
"You don't need any more excuses; I know what worries you, but don't worry; with me around, he won't
do anything against you."
The leader couldn't fully believe it, but Sophia's attitude was firm, so he let his staff process the
paperwork anyway.
