Chapter 173 Entry-Level Position
As soon as the words left my mouth, I saw Jack's and Elsa's expressions darken instantly.
Dad didn't seem to notice and instead looked at me with delight. "That's great. I've always wanted you to join the company. It'll be good for your growth, and eventually, the company will be in the hands of you youngsters."
Then, as if remembering something, he asked curiously, "What about your studio? Wasn't the negative press resolved a while ago? Are you not managing it anymore?"noveldrama
I shook my head with a smile. "I'm still managing it, but there aren't many projects at the moment, so I don't need to be there all the time. My junior will be handling most of the management."
Seeing the grim expressions on Elsa's and Jack's faces, I continued, "After getting married, I don't have to stay locked up at home like before. As you've just said, we'll be running the company eventually. Naturally, I should start getting familiar with it."
Before Dad could respond, Jack frowned and cut me off, "No way!"
I turned to him while maintaining a bright smile on my face. "Why not? Are you afraid I'll steal your limelight?"
A flicker of unease crossed his face. "As if."
He turned to Dad with an earnest look and said, "Dad, she really isn't suited for the company. She doesn't know a thing about business management. If we bring her in just like that, the employees will be upset. And what if she ruins important projects?"
Before I could fire back, Dad frowned and said, "And you have the nerve to say that about your sister? Weren't you just as clueless when you first joined the company? Did you hesitate then? Jane hasn't even officially started yet, and she has already generated more than a billion dollars in revenue for the company. What about you?"
Faced with Dad's lecture, Jack's face flushed red with embarrassment. His arrogance vanished in an instant, and he didn't dare utter another word.
I knew that suddenly joining the management team would be jarring, so after some thought, I made my decision.
I looked at Dad with determination. "In that case, assign me an entry-level position."
"But..." Dad protested, clearly reluctant to see me struggle.
I understood his concerns and explained, "Jack has a point. If I step in now, there will definitely be resentment. Besides, starting from an entry-level position will help me learn a lot better. I might even hear things that higher-ups wouldn't."
Jack wanted to keep me out of the company entirely. However, all I had to do was change to a different approach.
He hesitated, seemingly wanting to voice his objection again.
This time, Elsa interjected with a sweet voice, acting as if she cared about me. "Jane, will you be able to handle it? Even if your studio isn't too busy, juggling two jobs will be exhausting." en
She knew her words wouldn't sway me, so she turned to our parents instead. "Dad, Mom, if Jane keeps doing this, her health will eventually suffer."
Sure enough, Mom and Dad started to grow concerned about my health.
Before they could say anything, Eric wrapped his arm around me and addressed them solemnly. "Mr. and Mrs. Brown, you don't have to worry. I'll personally pick her up from work every day. At home, I'll have the housekeeper prepare nutritious meals. I'll make sure she doesn't overwork herself."
The jealousy in Elsa's eyes grew more intense at his words, so much so that she
could barely hide it. In the end, she gritted her teeth and fell silent.
