Revenge 107
Sometimes, Mayra was confused, wondering whether it was right to follow Anderson’s orders.
In her previous life, Gordon also left because of his mother. However, this event was brought forward this time. Back then, he started developing his career in Candor City.
Mayra gazed at Paramount Hall with reluctance in her eyes. After the car drove away, she slowly tore her gaze away.
Mayra moved back to the Barlow mansion and found the maids busy with tasks. A few workers were on a truck as they moved a white crystal piano off the truck.
“Mr. Anderson, the piano you customized for Ms. Fisher as a wedding gift is here.”
“Andy, I’m going back to my room,” Mayra announced absentmindedly.
“Mayra…”
“Ms. Sadler…” a maid called.
Anderson called her too, but she seemed to have slipped into her own world. Oblivious to the voices outside, she trudged up the stairs toward her bedroom.
When the door shut, she felt a sense of emptiness like never before. They were only together for such a short period. She thought that they would have a longer time together.
A maid was coming out of Mayra’s room when Anderson came upstairs, and she greeted him politely.
“Where’s Mayra?”
“Ms. Sadler has fallen asleep in the room. She has instructed me not to wake her up for lunch. It looks like she’s in low spirits.”
Anderson sent the maid away with a wave of his hand. Then, he stepped into the room and closed the door.
Deep asleep, Mayra dreamed of Gordon. In her dream, he committed suicide in his cell after receiving news of her death in her past life. She could see his blood pooling on the floor.
In the dark cell, light from the only window cast itself on his haggard, closed eyes. A long time passed, but nobody came to take care of his body.
Next to him, Mayra shouted with all her might for someone to save him. Despite that, no one heard her shouts. All she could do was watch as he took his last breath.
Mayra could hardly breathe from the suffocating feeling. “Gordon…”
Suddenly, she started calling his name in her sleep. When Anderson heard her voice, the coldness in his eyes intensified.
Jolted awake from a nightmare, Mayra opened her eyes and jumped in startlement at the man next to her bed. Immediately, she sat upright. Andy, when did you come in?”
Her dark hair was sticking to her face, and Anderson reached out to tuck it behind her ear. “Did you have a nightmare? Tell me what it was about.” Mayra had gradually become unaccustomed to Anderson being so close to her as well as his intimate gestures. Hence, she scooted backward. Anderson’s hand hung awkwardly in the air until he slowly lowered it. His eyes were void of emotions, which made it impossible to read his mind. Mayra offered no answer to his question and merely looked the other way. Pulling up the sheets, she covered her chest. “N–Nothing…”
“Do you blame me for making you transfer to another school?” he asked. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
