hapter 90 288 Wescher Chapter 90 KAIDEN STIRLING I helped Harper put on her boots with different thoughts running through my mind. Mostly revolving around Safiya’s growing hatred toward Freda. At this point, was it even safe to leave Safiya around Harper anymore? She could start brainwashing the innocent girl if she got a chance. I drew in a deep breath, I shouldn’t be thinking that way but I couldn’t help it. Knowing that Safiya was harboring so much hate and envy toward Freda didn’t sit well with me and just a moment ago, she almost tried convincing Harper to see reasons with her. F***k! I paid close attention to Harper who was s**g beside me as we walked toward my car in the driveway. She was elated and seemed to have forgotten that she was hungry. I smiled, she was such a bubbly soul and innocent-as well. “Where are we going to, daddy?” She asked, her r**d eyes peering into mine -opened the car door and placed her in, securing the seatbelt around her before responding, “We’re going to a restaurant. Today, you and I will have dinner outside” 000% 10:49 “Really?! Yay!! She clapped gleefully and I chuckled. I tapped her nose before closing the door and rounding the car. I could feel Safiya staring at me from the balcony of her room but I ignored her gaze and got into the car. Harper was still excited, listing out all she wanted to have when we got to the restaurant. I smiled in relief, glad that she had forgotten about her condition of Safiya apologizing. My daughter, starving, was the last thing I wanted to witness or even add to the list of my failures. I started the engine and soon we hit the road, heading to the restaurant closest to home. I didn’t plan for us to stay out for long since she had to go to school the next day. “Daddy,” She called, her smile turning downwards “What is it, sweetheart?” I asked, glancing briefly at her the back at the road. “Will mom apologize to Cisco’s mother soon?” She asked and I sighed not knowing what to say. I guess she hadn’t forgotten about that yet and she probably was going to eat because it would be at a restaurant. “Let’s not talk about that now, princess, okay?” I cooed and she frowned “Why won’t Mom say sorry? Didn’t she make Cisco’s mom do the same? Mom is just being mean. I don’t like her-” “Harper!” I chided almost hitting the brakes. She blinked pushing herself into the chair in an attempt to make herself smaller. I sighed and shook my head. I didn’t even know whether to scold 16.65% = 1049 1 her for saying such about her mother or be mad at Safiya for making her see the need to feel that way. The rest of the drive was in silence. “Look, princess,” I started as I brought the car to a halt in the parking lot of a restaurant. She sat up and stared at me with her lips pressed into a thin line. I reached over and held her hands in mine. I laughed inwardly at the turn of events, I was going to give my daughter a pep talk about not hating her mother for any reason but the woman in question was on a raging war with her sister for absolutely no reason at all. ‘Really?’ My wolf questioned slyly and immediately went quiet, leaving me to ponder. My attention returned to Harper who was staring at me. “Don’t say such things about your mother okay?” I told her and she nodded, “No matter what she does, she will always be your mother. Always”
“I’m sorry, Daddy,” She said solemnly and I smiled, “Good, now. cheer up. We’re here!” I hopped out of the car and helped her out as well. As we made our way to the building, she kept listing all she would love to eat and I was happy to keep my listening ear. When we entered the restaurant, the sounds of familiar laughter attracted my attention. At the end of the room, were Freda and her friends. As we walked further into the room, Freda’s eyes suddenly met 10:49 Chapter mine and my heart s**d a beat. She looked away and smiled at something the man said. Yes, he was there as well and was seated right next to her. Anger surged through my veins and it took a lot including Harper’s soft voice to break me free from it. She was suggesting the unoccupied table beside theirs and before I could refuse, she s*d o**ver. “Harper?” Fransisco grinned when he saw her. He got up to meet her. Freda and the humans looked up and even if they recognized me, none of them acted like they did. They continued with their meals and conversation. Freda seemed invested in whatever the man was saying. She was smiling for f**k’s sake and it was making me feel annoyed. I should have sent them away the moment they were brought in by the guards. I Realising, how bizarre my thoughts were becoming, I decided to pay attention to my children. “How are you feeling now?” Cisco asked Harper and she giggled. “I feel much better. It doesn’t hurt anymore, see?” She showed him her head and he inspected it before nodding “True. There is no wound or blood anymore” He beamed. At smile subconsciously made its way to my face as I listened and watched their interaction. “Cisco, I promise I’ll make my mom say sorry to your mother, okay?” Harper said and Cisco nodded with a grateful smile on his face. Sighing, I looked away from them, Harper had made a resolve. |||
203 Mouchers and it was up to Safiya if she would not let her daughter down. I decided to order our meals while they conversed and once I was done, I was stuck with listening to the human’s s**d jokes and talks. Freda, laughing at them made me more enraged. She hadn’t even cast me a glance since we sat down. I felt agitated. We should have gone to another restaurant. Thoughts of snapping his neck crossed my mind within just a few minutes of sitting there. I seemed to have lost it. I didn’t even realize our meal had been brought until Harper exclaimed about her fries being yummy. “Harper, let’s go outside” I suggested when I noticed there were a few seats outside the restaurant. I couldn’t bear to stay and watch Freda being this happy with another man. I hated to admit but it hurt my ego and my wolf. Though I knew why, I kept asking myself why it had to be someone else. It should have been me making her smile and giggle. The thought made my heart constrict painfully “No, Daddy. Let’s stay here, I want to eat with Cisco” Harper refused, looking at Cisco who appeared to be telling his mother the same thing. My lips parted but I was at a loss of words.
