Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Although Mikayla wasn’t exactly in her early dating years, she still could not reject romance. She was taken to a super–large pink hot air balloon. With the help of the staff, she and Carlos climbed into the balloon and slowly rose into the sky.
As everything below looked smaller and smaller, it felt like they were the only ones left in the world. Mikayla felt both flustered and shy being alone with Carlos.
“Because we had little time, I had to let others handle a lot. But planned this… Is it too childish?” Carlos‘ usually icy face. showed a rare trace of nervousness. This should have happened 20 years ago, but life had its delays.
Mikayla smiled softly. She never expected the cold, distant Carlos to have such a thoughtful side.
“I’ve never dated before, but I’ll give you the best!” Carlos added.
Mikayla nodded, trusting him. But she was surprised that Carlos, so handsome and successful, had never dated before. Suddenly, the memory of their last gentle kiss flooded back to her, bringing a warm blush to her cheeks.
“Don’t you believe me?” Carlos asked.
“No. 1 just didn’t expect this to be your first time. You’re such a catch, Mikayla replied, wondering if she had hit the jackpot. She might not have been very experienced herself, but she did have some past.
Carlos looked at Mikayla’s pretty pink lips and swallowed hard.
Unaware of the desire in Carlos‘ gaze, Mikayla asked, “How did you know I like pink?” This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
Carlos suppressed his slightly affectionate gaze and tried to appear calm. “Don’t you remember anything?” he asked, looking at Mikayla intently.
“Me?” Mikayla wondered if she had forgot something. She saw disappointment in Carlos gray eyes when she met them.
neil off.
“Never mind,” Carlos said, brushing it off.
Mikayla turned sideways and stood beside Carlos. No one talked, but they seemed oddly harmonious. Mikayla’s light fragrance wafted through the air, nearly making Carlos lose his focus.
“Hey Carlos, let’s set some ground rules, okay?” Mikayla suggested.
Getting no response, she continued, “Look, I didn’t expect any of this when I first approached you. I’m not saying we can’t be intimate after marriage, but can we just let things happen naturally?”
“Don’t worry, I won’t force you, Carlos assured her.
Mikayla added, “If you ever fall in love with someone else, I won’t make
you stay with me”
Carlos gently touched her check, his eyes softening. “That will never happen.”
“Can you promise not to be with other women while we’re together? I’ll be faithful too, Mikayla said. She knew she was pushing it, but she couldn’t help her need for exclusivity.
“Don’t worry. I’ll never touch another woman except you,” Carlos promised, his fingers lingering on her soft skin. Despite the comfort of his words, Carlos would find this promise challenging in the years to come.
It was already ten o’clock in the evening when Mikayla returned to the Salvatore manor.
“Ms. Salvatore, these flowers,” The servant took the roses.
“Find a vase and put them in my room.” Mikayla took off her coat, went back to her room, and changed into loungewear. After removing her makeup, she headed downstairs.

Right then, Jorge and Sylvia were sitting in the dining room, waiting for Mikayla. When Mikayla came downstairs, Sylvia told the servant to serve dinner. Soon, the servant brought out the meal, and the whole family gathered around to eat.
“Dad, Mom!” Mikayla greeted her as she sat down.
“Mika, what’s going on with Carlos today?” Sylvia asked worriedly
“We’re getting married! He’ll talk about the details with both families in a few days, Mikayla answered.
“No, I won’t allow it!” Jorge was rarely stern, Sylvia held his hand under the table and whispered, “Don’t scare her.”
Jorge sighed. “Mika, I know there’s a reason you and Jaxon suddenly broke off your engagement, and he married Winona right away. You don’t want to talk about it, so we never asked. But we can’t let you marry someone you barely know.”
“Dad, Mom, I admit I was a bit impulsive at first, but Carlos is really the best choice for me,” Mikayla confessed. Initially, she approached Carlos out of anger towards Jaxon and Winona, but how she
was thinking differently.
“Do you really know Carlos?” Jorge asked, concerned.
