Reborn From Oblivion

Chapter 630

Nathalie tried to brush off the lingering doubts that clouded her mind. With a warm smile, she linked her arm through Nathan's, happily accompanying him to dinner.

Nathan was eager to show just how hungry he was, diving into the food with enthusiasm. Nathalie, feeling a wave of compassion, gently patted his head. "Is your appetite back now that you're on the mend? Eat up, it'll help you bounce back quicker."

Nathan nodded, his smile not quite reaching his eyes, which held a hint of scheming.

"Why did you let Greta move in, sis? Haven't you always had a thing against her?" Nathan asked.

Nathalie's face fell, her expression a mix of struggle and guilt. "I just can't shake the feeling that I owe her. Her mom gave up custody because of me, and that guilt lingers."

Nathan, with a flash of righteous anger, replied, "You gave her a kidney, Nathalie. You've more than repaid any debt. It's them who've been exploiting your upbringing, their greed knows no bounds."

Suddenly, Nathalie reached out and clasped Nathan's hand firmly.

Nathan paused his rant. "I just don't want you living like that, all tied up in knots."

Nathalie smiled softly. "I've often wondered why my life was so tough. Now I get it -fate wanted me to find you. You're so amazing that I had to go through all that to be worthy of your love."

Nathan was touched. "I went through my own battles just to meet you!"

Nathalie nodded, their hands interlocking tightly.

After lunch, Nathan headed back to his study to tackle some work.

He called Dominick in on purpose.

"Shut the door."

Dominick was caught off guard; Nathan rarely showed such wariness at home.

Dominick locked the study door and approached Nathan respectfully. "Sir, what's happening?"

Nathan gritted his teeth, asking, "How did Greta get over her madness?"

Dominick looked sheepish. "It's my fault, sir. I dropped the ball."

"What happened?"

"Recently, only Cameron, Miranda, and Mrs. Smith have been visiting Greta at the mental hospital. Cameron's been watched closely and has no motive. Mrs. Smith believes Greta's genuinely ill, so she wouldn't stop her meds. Miranda, though, seemed less of a threat because of her limited mobility, so I slacked off. Little did I know, Miranda managed to swap Greta's meds behind our backs."

"How can you be sure it was her?"

"Her behavior's been odd lately. She used to be waited on hand and foot, but now she's personally looking after Greta's meals. That's when realized she could get around on her own it's my mistake, sir. I've caused trouble for you. You can punish me if you want."

Nathan's face darkened. "Punishing you won't do any good. Greta's been flaunting her recovery in front of me, which probably means she's spilled the beans about who I really am Now that we've riled her up, I'm

I

worried she'll blow my cover. So, for

now, we need to keep her happy, noveldrama

show her it's better not to cross me."

Dominick nodded. "Understood. I know what to do."

"And another thing..." Nathan continued.

"Nathalie went to see Lincoln at the hospital and tipped our hand. The Stewart

family is petrified of Lincoln's situation getting out, and that old fox will probably try

to silence Nathalie. Set up extra bodyguards to keep an eye on her."

"Understood."

"Alright, you're dismissed."

Nathan waved him off.
