Chapter 1421
Chapter 1421
“It’s not like that. He has been here keeping me company recently and he didn’t even go to his company* What Ashlynn said was true. “I deliberately asked him to go somewhere else.”
Beth grabbed her hand “Silly girl, why did you take a bullet for him? Do you know how important you are? If something were to happen to you, how are your father and I supposed to live? We’ve finally found your after going through so much hardship…”
Ashlynn could not bear to look at Beth, who was holding back the tears welling in her eyes. “Mom, Dad, I’m sorry. Corentin is my husband. I don’t wish for him to be injured. But it’s fortunate that I’m fine. It’s frightening, but I’m not in danger. I promise both of you I won’t do this anymore in the future.”
Beth calmed herself and asked, “Where did you get hurt?”
“The bullet entered my body from my back but avoided any vital organs.” Ashlynn wore a gentle smile on
her face.
Her family saw that her face looked slightly flushed, so they knew she was recovering quite well. It was just that they felt extremely worried for her.
Why must their daughter go through so many disasters and hardships?
“I wish that all of your disasters would come at me instead and not torture you anymore.” Beth touched her face gently and with sorrow. “I really was almost scared to death…”
“I don’t want that. I wish that my family would all be fine. Also, I came from the slum, so my character is stronger and more optimistic. Dad, Mom, you have to look on the bright side.” Ashlynn’s mindset was
quite good.
“What bright side? I was extremely anxious,” said Beth.
Marshall put his hand on Beth’s shoulder to comfort her. “Don’t cry anymore. She’s fine and that’s enough. But Ash, who’s the person who fired that shot?”
“I don’t know. Corentin is still looking into it,” said Ashlynn.
“I think it’s Corentin who has offended someone out there, but he got Ashlynn involved,” said Jeremy.
Marshall said, “It’s very normal to offend people in the field of business. It’s just that I’ve never seen. anybody assassinate with a gun. This is too savage.”
Ashlynn felt so too.
The person fired a shot in broad daylight. It was a silenced gun, but it was still very shocking.
“It looks like you’re very fond of him. You actually took a bullet for him. You really don’t care for your life anymore.” Jeremy was very angry at the thought of it.
Ashlynn could not tell him what she was truly thinking deep down. Also, walls have ears. She could not let all her efforts go to waste.
“As I said, Corentin is my husband. Of course, I don’t wish for him to get hurt.”
“So, it’s fine for you to get hurt?” Jeremy asked in return.
“Nobody wishes for someone to get hurt, regardless if it was him or myself. I believe if Corentin was the one who saw the person firing the gun, he would also risk everything to save me,” said Ashlynn.
Corentin’s gaze deepened when he heard what Ashlynn said as he stood outside the ward, then he turned
around and left.
“I don’t know what you like about him.” Jeremy was not quite happy as he sat on the chair, and he did not
look at her anymore
It was as if he would get angrier if he looked at her
Beth said, “I’ll use my connections later and have them look into this properly. He has hurt my daughter I won’t let him leave Athetin.”
After Beth left the hospital, she did not go to her company but she returned home
She ordered the chef to prepare some nutritious food. She wanted to watch the entire process, and then bring the food to the hospital.
“Mrs. Hilton, is this prepared for Ms. Ashlynn?” asked Aunt Cher, “Is she not feeling well?” Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“She’s a little unwell, but it’s no big deal. She’ll be discharged from the hospital in a couple of days. I’ll bring this over when it’s done.”
Aunt Cher’s gaze lit up with a scheme in mind. “Why don’t I deliver it? This kind of thing should be done by servants like us.”
“No need. I’ll personally deliver it to her.”
“Then I’ll go along with you!”
Beth was thinking that she certainly would not be able to carry everything by herself since there were too many, so she agreed.
Dinner was delivered to the ward before half past five in the evening.
“Mom, there’s no need for you to deliver dinner to me anymore tomorrow. Corentin has already arranged for someone to deliver three meals a day to me, anyway,” said Ashlynn.
