She had thought more traps would await her, but she slept through the night. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
The people in black robes were right. She had never been this free.
Whenever she tried to escape, Anthony would always find her and drag her back.
She wondered if Anthony was still searching for her after a month.
‘After some time, maybe he will forget about me. If I really manage to get out of here, maybe I won’t have to be scared of him anymore…’ she thought.
In the morning at the Royal Mansion, Hayden went to check on the children, and the maid was dressing them.
Breakfast and everything else was ready.
As he walked past the master bedroom, he noticed that the door was not shut, and sunlight came shining through the gap. Hayden knocked on the door and asked, “Mr. Marwood, are you awake?”
There was no response.
‘Did he not come home at all last night? That’s not possible! He did come home,’ Hayden thought.
Ever since what happened to Anne, Anthony’s appeared to have lost his soul and simply wandered around the Royal Mansion purposelessly; ignoring his children’s pleas to see their mother, he seemed to have trapped himself within his own world without a care for anything around him.
Hayden had never seen Anthony this way. Even when Anne tried to escape before, Anthony would simply be enraged and would do anything to find her. However, after a month, Anthony seemed to have
lost his voice altogether.
Despair loomed over the Royal Mansion and likely wherever Anthony went.
Hayden knocked on the door. “Mr. Marwood, are you awake?”
Still, there was no response.
He pushed the door open, unsettled by the silence as he walked into the bedroom. “Mr. Marwood…”
He came to a sudden halt when he saw the unmoving figure on the couch.
Anthony sat on the couch in the same outfit he had worn the day before, and the sheets on the bed were completely untouched.
Hayden’s eyes widened in shock. “Mr. Marwood, your hair…”
Anthony looked up dazedly. “… What?” He turned to look into the mirror behind him and noticed that his hair had turned gray. 1
Hayden gaped. “Mr. Marwood, what… What is going on? How could this…”
How devastated could one be for their hair to grow gray overnight?
Anthony went and stared at his reflection for a while with bloodshot eyes before looking away.
“Mr. Marwood, I… I will get you some hair dye.”
“It’s fine,” Anthony muttered emotionlessly.
Hayden stilled and thought, ‘It’s fine? So he’s just going to walk around looking like that?’
“How could she die? How dare she…”
Hayden contemplated on how he could offer consolation but instantly lost all ability to think altogether when he saw the tears scrolling down Anthony’s eyes.
Anthony was crying.
“Where should I go to search for her?” Anthony asked, desperately wishing that someone would give him
an answer.
“My condolences, Mr. Marwood, but for the sake of the triplets…”
“Condolences?” Anthony repeated before bursting into hysterical laughter. “I hurt her and didn’t even hold back. How could I…”
