Chapter 173 I was a Law-abiding Citizen
Chapter 173 I was a Law-abiding Citizen
He could understand and support the young policeman's desire to perform well, but this young
policeman was really not smart.
What era was it now? How could anyone believe that?
As he had expected, the people inside did not open the door.
Joseph was not in a hurry. The suspect's cautious attitude just showed that he was likely to have done
something illegal.
Otherwise, ordinary people would choose to open the door unconsciously even if they had some
doubts in their minds.
"Now, wait here for half an hour." Joseph said to these policemen, "Remember not to make any noise."
Inside the apartment, Channing was relieved after finding that it was quiet outside. He closed his eyes
and planned to sleep.
However, he tossed and turned, but couldn't fall asleep again. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
After a long sleep, the wounds still hurt, and he was hungry.
He got up, went into the bathroom and washed. Then he came to the door and looked out through the
door peephole.
He could see the opposite door clearly. Also, he saw no one outside clearly.
It seemed that that person had left. Channing opened the door as he thought about it.
Just now he thought over it carefully, and felt that it was very likely that Antonio had regretted and sent
someone to in the hope of catching him. Now, it seemed that it should just be his imagination.
Moreover, if Antonio really regretted, he would have more direct means of catching him.
Breaking in would be direct and most effective.
His analysis seemed to be plausible. However, someone clung onto the door when he stepped out with
one foot.
Channing's heart palpitated. He quickly withdrew his foot. However, when he tried to close the door, he
found that he couldn't even pull it as if it were fixed to the floor.
A person appeared in front of Channing. He was wearing a police uniform and a police cap with a
credential in his hand, "Don't move, police!"
The man shouted. Finding that he was a policeman, Channing was instantly much relieved.
Although he seldom socialized with the police, at least he thought he hadn't done anything significantly
against the law. Even yesterday, he didn't really rape anyone, so he wasn't terrified of police.
"Sir... Sir, I am a law-abiding citizen." Channing had put his hand on the door handle, but now he put it
on the sides of his thighs.
"We'll know if you obey the law or not after investigation." Joseph took a look at Channing and waved
his hand, after which Channing heard a noise coming from downstairs. The next second, five or six
police officers came up the stairs and filed in his room.
Although Channing was confident that he had not done anything significantly against the law, he
became nervous again when he saw the police being so serious, "Well, sir, it's a bit intimidating for you
to have so many people here all at once."
"And...And you've got guns with you." Although Channing had a gun, it could be only used to scare
others and couldn't really hurt anyone.
"Oh? Don't you often see guns?" Joseph, who was the last people to enter the apartment, looked at
Channing meaningfully.
Channing was stunned, "Sir, what do you mean? I'm a law-abiding citizen. How can I often see guns?"
"You can deny it now. When I find the gun, I'll see how you can deny it!" Although Joseph said in tough
tone and even glared at Channing, he was actually not confident at all. Because of the urgency, he
didn't apply for a search warrant.
And it was so late that he couldn't get the search warrant until at least the next day even if he applied
for it. He couldn't bear to wait that long.
If Channing stopped them from entering for this reason now, they couldn't enter the apartment.
Fortunately, Channing didn't mention this.
"Search carefully! Don't leave a place unsearched!" Joseph shouted to other policemen. However, he
had been standing by Channing in case he suddenly fled.
Watching the police search his apartment, Channing felt puzzled apart from some inexplicable tension
in his heart.
He didn't even know what the police were searching for. Judging from the conversation he had just had
with the police beside him, Channing speculated that the police probably suspected that he had a gun
in his possession, but his gun was a fake one. Moreover, after using it yesterday, he directly threw it
away and did not bring it home at all.
What could these police find?
Channing doubtfully watched the police rummaging through his apartment and didn't realize that
something bad was going to happen to him.
"Found it!" Suddenly, someone said in the bedroom, and then that young policeman rushed out of the
bedroom excitedly. He was carrying a large transparent plastic bag which contained many things.
Inside were something like pills of uniform size. That young policeman said, "Judging from the
appearance, these pills should be ecstasy. As for whether they true or fake, we can’t be sure before we
go back and make an identification."
Channing recognized his voice. He was the person who had just claimed to send a parcel.
His expression totally changed after hearing what the young policeman had said.
"It's impossible! I've never taken drugs, and it's even more impossible for me to have drugs at home!"
Channing said in an alarmed but determined voice.
People were like this. They all refuted it with righteousness when faced with something they had not
done.
However, as soon as he finished speaking, another policeman came out of the other room with two
black guns in his hand, "Found them. Two guns."
Channing's eyes were wide open, "How it is possible! It's absolutely impossible!"
"You are caught in possession of both guns and drugs. How dare you resort to sophistry? Old habits
die hard. Come on. Bring him back to the Bureau and I'll interrogate him personally!" Joseph had met
many who tried to resort to sophistry in the presence of sufficient evidence.
He didn't believe that Channing would be innocent!
Hearing his words, two policemen came forward to take his arms from his back, and then handcuffed
him.
Channing struggled fiercely while keeping shouting that he was innocent. But how can he struggle to
free himself from two well-trained policemen?
In a few seconds, he was pinned to the ground by the police and couldn't move.
"If you want to say anything, go to the Bureau with us and say it there. It is useless to shout here."
Joseph squatted down and looked at Channing coldly.
Channing was so angry that his eyes were wide open. The wounds on his body hurt even more
because of the violent struggle he had just had. He suddenly recalled the situation when Antonio let
him go.
Channing seemed to understand something and suddenly shouted, "Antonio framed me up!"
Joseph escorted Channing back to the Public Security Bureau and directly took him to the interrogation
room.
"When did you begin to sell drugs?"
"I never sell drugs."
"Where did you get those guns?"
"Those guns aren't mine."
Joseph interrogated Channing for half of the night, but did not get any useful information from
Channing.
"You are really stubborn!" Joseph gritted his teeth and looked at Channing.
He had interrogated many suspects. Therefore, he had met many suspects like Channing. In the first
two days, they wouldn't admit their faults or gave useful information. After they had suffered enough,
they would confess when asked again.
