Chapter 48
Chapter 48
Chapter 48 Cerys intentionally mentioned that she delivered the script to Trevor at the hospital. She was wondering if Emma would show concern for Trevor after hearing that he was in the hospital. However, Emma’s focus was entirely on the script. “This version is okay too? That’s great! In that case, please arrange a time for the meeting. It is indeed better for everybody to sit down and discuss this matter together.” Cerys could only say, “Okay. I will contact you again when I have set up a time and place for the meeting.” Seeing that Emma was about to end the call, she blurted out, “Emma, Mr. Bateson is in the hospital because of his stomach issues.” “Oh? Is that so?” Emma responded to the topic, but her tone was very polite. “Please wish him a specdy recovery on my behalf. Cerys quietly sighed and ended the call. Walking over to the elevator, she was just about to lift her hand to press the button when the elevator door opened. Zachary walked out from within, looking very unruly as he searched his pockets for something. When he saw her, he smiled brightly and greeted her. “Hi, Cherry.” He had always liked calling her ‘Cherry for some reason, which made the relationship between the two of them seem very intimate. However, she knew that he was a playboy and it was very common for him to flirt with women. For that reason, she stepped back and greeled him. “Good morning, Mr. Manson.” Be that as it may, despite knowing that Zachary was only being friendly, Cerys couldn’t stop the blush from creeping across her face or her heart from racing He took a step forward and continued to flirt with her. “Do you want to join my company instead? Your employer is such a handsul after all. Look at how he landed himself in the hospital again.” She mustered up the courage to speak. “Thank you for your concern. I still have work to do, so I’ll be taking my leave now.”
After saying that, she quickly stepped into the elevator and raised her hand to press the button to close the doors. It was not until the two heavy elevator doors finally closed and separated her from the handsome man outside that she let out a long sigh of relief. She raised her eyes to look at herself in the reflection of the elevator mirror-large black-rimmed glasses, cold and dull eyes, and a monotonous professional suit in shades of black, white, and gray stared back at her. There was a world of difference compared to that man who stood at the top of the world. Falling in love with a person she could never obtain was both sweet and painful. Emma had heard the secret meaning contained within Cerys’ statement, but she deliberately chose to ignore it. What could she do even if she did not ignore it? As Trevor’s ex-wife, it was impossible for her to continue showing concern for him. Besides, he did not lack for her concern. Just ten minutes ago, the post detailing Crystal’s appearance at the hospital to visit Trevor had already appeared at the top of the current trending topics. Emma generally did not pay much attention to such gossip. It was Susanna who sent that information to her. Susanna worked in the entertainment circle, so it was only natural that she paid close attention to such things. Emma glanced at the trending topics and learned that Trevor had been admitted into the hospital due to gastric issues. Thus, she wondered whether he was admitted into the hospital because she had angered him so badly that his gastric issues flared up again. The voice message Susanna sent to her was filled with contempt toward Crystal. “Crystal sure is amazing. Is she afraid she might not be able to marry him? Her beloved man is sick. Who would have the umc to care about dressing up so brightly and exquisitely? Who would dress up as though she was going for a street photography session? It’s obvious that she posed for this photo so that she can be featured on the trending topics.” Emma said nothing. She was recalling the scene where Trevor had been admitted into the hospital due to his gastric issues in the middle of the night.
She had certainly been disheveled because there was no time to care about her image. Her mind had been filled with anxiety and worry about his health and she only had time to randomly grab a coat before she followed the ambulance to the hospital. It was only after she arrived at the hospital and his condition was confirmed to be nothing serious that she realized she was still wearing her house slippers. In any case, it did not matter how sincere Crystal was toward Trevor. It was enough that Trevor loved her. As long as there was love, one would be willing to do anything. When Zachary knocked and entered Trevor’s hospital room, Crystal was graciously taking out the congee that she cooked from the lunch box. After entering the room, he lazily leaned against the end of Trevor’s hospital bed and teased Crystal with a smile. “Hi, Superstar Crystal. You’re really virtuous! This porridge smells heavenly! I haven’t had breakfast yet. Won’t you give me some too?” Crystal glanced at Zachary angrily. Gritting her teeth, she squeezed out a smile and retorted, “Mr. Manson, I’m sure you don’t lack people to make you porridge.” Of all the times to visit, why does Zachary have to visit at the same time as me? How am I going to enjoy my lovey-dovey alone time with Trevor? It’s so rare for Trevor to have an opportunity where he isn’t swamped with work. I was just planning to get along well with him. She had given much thought to the matter. Over the course of the year, her relationship with Trevor had been very bland and a large part of the reason was due to his hectic work schedule. He was always either having a meeting or going out on a business trip. In addition, she also had some drama engagements and other work to finish during the first half of the year. For these reasons, the two of them had barely spent any quality time together. Just as Crystal was complaining about Zachary’s arrival in her heari, Trevor took the bowl of porridge that she handed to him and said, “I have work matters to discuss with Zachary. Why don’t you head back first? You’ve worked hard.” She gritted her teeth inwardly when she heard those words, but she appeared generous and sensible on the surface. Standing up, she picked up her bag and reminded him. “You must finish all theNôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
porridge, okay? Don’t work too much.” He nodded. “Okay.” Zachary waved at her from the side. “Sorry, Superstar Crystal. I’ll treat you to a meal one day to express my apologies.” Crystal snorted coldly before she turned around and left the room. Why would I want Zachary to treat me to dinner? I have no interest in playboys like him. Trevor is so much better in comparison. He has always been virtuous when it came to women. He never keeps any random woman around him throughout all the years e-except Emma, that shameless b*tch who climbed into his bed! Just thinking about Emma made Crystal gnash her teeth in anger. Emma’s existence was like a thorn that was stuck deep into her heart. Even though Emma and Trevor were divorced, the thorn remained lodged deeply in her heart. What’s more, not only did Emma return to the country and become a screenwriter, she also joined the drama project that Trevor was involved in. As if that was not bad enough, it turned out that she was extremely talented. Crystal had no idea until she ordered an investigation on Emma’s background. However, it turned out that Emma was not only an excellent student but also Elcanor’s closed-door disciple who was appointed by Eleanor herself. Crystal had always looked down on Emma and scorned Emma for being a good-for nothing, but, now… Taking a deep breath, she suppressed the depression in her heart and wore a calm expression before she stepped into the elevator. She would have to face the reporters at the entrance of the hospital later. Following Crystal’s departure, Zachary pulled a chair over and sat down. His long legs rested unreservedly on the railings at the end of the bed. He glanced at Trevor and said, “I heard from Kaleb that you were so furious at Emma last night that your stomach issues flared up.” Trevor placed the untouched bowl of porridge back on the table and responded to Zachary angrily, “Stop talking about such nonsense all day long.” It was a rare occurrence, but Zachary comforted Trevor, “Emma claimed that she never loved you, but
anybody can tell that it’s a lic. The love for you that she showed throughout those three years was apparent to everybody.” That included Trevor himself; he must also have felt it.
