Chapter 338
Chapter 338:
This wouldn’t cost anything less than three hundred million. And that wasn’t even accounting for how rare these items were—nearly impossible to get even if one had the money.
Henrik really knew how to dominate a negotiation.
Sheri’s face went pale as Henrik’s demand sank in, its reality hitting her like a blow. It had taken so much effort just to get her own lab outfitted with this kind of technology. But as she looked at Henrik’s indifferent expression, panic settled in her chest. She swallowed hard.
“Fine. I’ll have them delivered to Miss Evans’ lab within a week.”
With that, Sheri let go of any thoughts of showing off her connection with Henrik in front of Khloe. She managed a strained smile. “By the way, my mom has been asking about you, Henrik. She wanted me to remind you to come over for dinner.”
“Got it. I’ll come by when I am free,” Henrik replied, giving her a nonchalant nod.
Sheri nodded, offering Khloe a polite smile before she walked away. As soon as she was out of sight, Khloe let out a burst of laughter.noveldrama
“Henrik! That was amazing! You really know how to push a hard bargain!”
Henrik watched her laugh, her face lighting up with happiness, and a gentle smile played at his lips. “I can do even better than that. Want me to prove it?”
His eyes drifted to her lips, the intensity in his gaze unmistakable.
As Henrik spoke, his eyes stayed on Khloe’s lips, filled with intense longing.
Khloe instantly caught his meaning. With a subtle purse of her lips, she turned away, pretending not to hear, and made her way to the car. “What if I just give you that promise from the Douglas family? It would guarantee you the vote.”

Henrik pulled her closer and wrapped an arm around her waist. “Why are you pushing me away? After using me, you just leave me behind? Khloe, I’ve figured you out—you’re very clever.”
Khloe’s heart raced as Henrik’s grip tightened. She squirmed slightly and teased, “I didn’t do that. I’m just trying to help you.”
Henrik pulled her even closer, his grip firm as he whispered in her ear, “If you’re really trying to help me, then stop running. You still haven’t answered my question.”
Khloe felt completely trapped, unable to move. Henrik’s warm breath brushed against her ear, sending a tingling shiver down her body, almost like tiny sparks of electricity running through her.
With no escape in sight and his handsome face drawing nearer, Khloe pretended to be angry and said, “I know Sheri has a thing for you. Even though she apologized, today’s mess was all because of you.”
Henrik froze for a moment, and for the first time in his life, he was at a loss for what to do.
Khloe quickly took the opportunity to pull away from his arms and slip into the car.
That was too close. A kiss under the influence might have been excusable, but soberly sharing one held a different meaning altogether.
She wasn’t ready to jeopardize her professional relationship with Henrik just yet.
Henrik watched as Khloe deftly avoided him, a brief flash of frustration crossing his face.
Even the most defenseless prey would put up a struggle if cornered for too long. He had all the time in the world to wait. Being the hunter, he knew patience was key.
A week later, when the new equipment arrived at the lab, Charlotte’s eyes widened in shock. She turned to Khloe, her voice full of disbelief. “Did you rob the Dayton family? Or kidnap someone?”
Khloe shot Charlotte a sharp look. “This is just someone repaying a debt. Can you focus? We’re heading to the semifinals today. Are you prepared?”
