The butler was paralyzed in place, his complexion ghostly pale. He had never anticipated that Izabella might still be alive, and the realization left all his meticulously laid plans in ruins.noveldrama

The Douglas family’s servants, who had been so eager to see Khloe gone, now looked around in panic, exchanging confused glances, uncertain of their next move.

Khloe faced the male reporter, her smile as cold as ice. “You just said that if everyone sees it, it’s a done deal and judgment can be passed. So tell me, what will you pay for slandering me in public?”

The reporter was filled with fear. After all, Khloe was Henrik’s fiancée. Without any valid reason to accuse her of Izabella’s death, his slander was nothing short of reckless, potentially sealing his own fate.

Panic-stricken, he spun around and bolted toward the exit of the banquet hall, desperation etched across his face.

Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, and smoke filled the air. The reporter was shot in the leg, blood splattering as he fell to the floor, groaning in pain.

Khloe strolled toward him, the small handgun glinting in her hand. Her smile was bright and unrepentant. “Consider the debt settled. We’re square now.”

The crowd couldn’t look away from Khloe’s dazzling smile and the reporter writhing in pain on the floor. A chilling sense of dread swept through the room.

This woman was utterly terrifying.

Khloe, unfazed by the fearful stares, turned to the butler. “Now, it’s your turn to pay the price.”

The butler’s body shook as he fell to his knees, pleading desperately. “Miss Evans, I was wrong. I acted out of panic when I thought Mrs. Douglas was dead. I never meant for any of this to happen.”

His voice quivered as he edged forward on all fours, his words a continuous stream of apologies.

But just as he closed the distance to less than ten meters, a dangerous gleam flashed in his eyes. Without warning, he pulled a spray from his pocket and aimed it at Khloe, snarling, “Go to hell!”

Khloe had anticipated the butler’s move. With a sharp sidestep, she evaded the spray effortlessly. Frustration and fury contorted his face as he realized his attack had failed, and he lunged at her in desperation.

Khloe’s eyes hardened, turning icy cold, as she raised her handgun again, aiming it at him. “You surely have a death wish.”

Undeterred, the butler let out a crazed laugh. “Do it! Kill me if you dare! I’ve got nothing to lose.”

Henrik approached and launched a forceful kick that sent the butler crashing across the room. He hit the floor with a thud, coughing up blood as he groaned in pain. “You made a grave mistake messing with my woman.” Henrik’s voice was cold as he spoke. “Alan!”

Alan moved quickly, effortlessly restraining the butler. “You’ve got some nerve. I’ll personally ensure you regret it,” he growled, his grip like iron.

Fear flooded the butler’s eyes as he tried to bite down on his tongue to take his life. However, Alan forced his jaw shut with a sickening crack, making it impossible for the butler to control his tongue.

With the butler limp in his grip, Alan dragged him out of the hall, like a lifeless corpse.

Khloe didn’t object to Henrik’s interference. His actions aligned seamlessly with what she would have done herself. The room went deathly quiet as the guests stared in disbelief at what had just unfolded. Khloe’s eyes followed the butler being hauled away, her expression completely void of any sympathy. She then turned her attention to Izabella.
