He knew Khloe was an incredibly skilled doctor; otherwise, she wouldn’t have been able to diagnose that Izabella’s organs would fail after being treated by Sheri. But this request was too extreme, practically forcing Baylee to risk her life.

“What are you trying to say, Miss Evans?” Ashton asked, his voice low with suspicion and dissatisfaction. “Taking one thousand milliliters of blood from Baylee is too dangerous.”

“Mr. Douglas, as I mentioned before, we need to exchange your daughter’s life for your wife’s. I need to process Baylee’s blood and transfuse it into your wife to stabilize her condition. You didn’t appear to object earlier,” Khloe responded without emotion, unaffected by Ashton’s words.

She had expected Ashton’s choice. In the Douglas family, Izabella was the core, the heartbeat of it all. Baylee, however, was not.
