Chapter 21
Chapter 21:
“I’ll give you three seconds,” Khloe said, turning back to face the two trembling women. “Three. Two…”
Lorraine and Sloane, realizing Khloe wasn’t bluffing, broke down completely. They dropped to their knees with a desperate thud, their pleas pouring out in shattered sobs. “Khloe, we were wrong! We won’t do it again!” Lorraine cried, bowing so low that her forehead smacked the ground, turning red from the impact.
“It’s all my fault,” Sloane added, her voice cracked and pleading. “I’m the one to blame. Just forgive me!”
At this point, they had completely lost face, and there was no point in trying to salvage their reputations.
Still, Khloe didn’t budge. She kept the gun leveled, her fingers steady, her intent as cold as her stare.
A hush fell over the crowd, and a tension so thick filled the air that it suffocated those present.
Khloe looked down at the two women kneeling before her, her face an impenetrable mask.
Their apologies couldn’t erase the suffering she had endured all these years, the countless brushes with death she’d survived.
She craved to make them pay—tenfold, a hundredfold.
Killing them now would almost feel merciful.
At last, Khloe lowered the gun, her icy expression unwavering. “I’ll spare your lives. For now.”
Lorraine and Sloane sank to the ground, shaking as if they’d been granted a last-minute pardon.
Joshua let out a sigh of relief, though his gaze lingered on Khloe, filled with complex emotions.

Khloe crouched down, using the gun barrel to lift Sloane’s chin, forcing her to meet her gaze. “Just you wait, Sloane…” Her voice cut through the air, chilling as ice. “I’m not done with you just yet. Someday, I’ll make sure you crumble.” With that, she dropped Sloane’s chin with a flick of disdain and stood up.
Karl stepped forward and offered her a handkerchief, which Khloe accepted, wiping her hands as though she had just touched something dirty. Without a backward glance, she turned and walked away, the setting sun casting a halo around her silhouette. She walked with poise, her back upright and chin held high. Even her pristine gown trailed behind her like the tail of a comet—distant, noble, untouchable.
Everyone watched her leave, only coming back to themselves once she was out of sight.
They exchanged looks, the weight of what had just happened settling in.
The Evans family would face a huge change.
Once she stepped outside, Khloe took a slow, steadying breath.
The storm of emotions—anger, grievance, and disgust—twisted restlessly inside her chest, leaving her feeling drained.
Just then, a sleek Rolls-Royce glided to a stop beside her. The door swung open, and a tall, poised figure stepped out. The first thing she noticed was the man’s perfectly sculpted features.noveldrama
His suit was impeccably tailored, each line following the strong contours of his frame with effortless elegance.
Henrik?
She hadn’t expected to see him, and a flicker of surprise crossed her face. “What are you…”
Before she could finish, Henrik closed the distance between them, sweeping her into his arms, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
