I woke up the next morning with a headache. The first thing I did was to check the time with my phone.

” 1:47?” I said, rubbing my eyes for confirmation and when I checked it was even worse. It was 4:47! Ugh! My inability to sleep all night because I was sulking about Kade telling me to go to that moron’s party really made me so weak that I ended up sleeping a little too much. 

” Mom! Are you alive?” I heard the kids knocking on my door and smiled. They were my only source of Joy, I got up and went to open the door and they all hugged me. 

” Mom, Dad said you were sick so he’ll be taking us to Maddie’s house for the sleepover instead.” Damien said as I sat down while they were still holding onto my hips in a tight hug. 

” Are you still sick? Dad is being scary and we don’t want him to scare the other kids who will be there.” Dani said, she released me from her grip and sat beside me, the boys followed suit after but I was upset. 

Why was he setting me up just so he could take the kids for the sleepover while I go and see Alvarez? 

” is it possible that you’re going to get better so that you can take us instead?” Damien asked while staring at me with his blue eyes just like his father. It was still strange to me that kade is their father but it is what it is I guess.

” What about you Derrick?” I asked when I saw that he didn’t say anything. He shrugged and I laughed, knowing that he really did not want to go. He was shy around people so he was definitely not looking forward to the sleepover.

” Do you want to stay with Mom?” 

” Yeah, that’ll be great.” Derrick said, sighing in relief. 

” What’s great is talking to people your on age.” Dani said dismissively but Derrick just blew raspberry and clung to me, smiling widely.

” Dani is right, you should be comfortable around your peers.”

” but mom! They don’t talk about the stuff I like. I want to have fun with Dad at work so I can see all his cool gadgets and all.”

” he thinks Dad is Batman” Damien teased and Dani laughed with him.

” I don’t wanna go, mom please don’t make me.” He begged. 

” Well it’s alright, you can stay with me and your Dad. I’ll talk to him about letting you go with him to work if you promise to behave.”

” but I always behave, they’re the naughty ones.” He said pointing at his siblings but they blew raspberries at him and he did the same.

” Oh stop it! Look at all the saliva!” I scolded and they stopped. 

” It was his fault!” 

” children! It’s time for your bath” Victoria said entering my room since they left the door open.

” I’ll bathe first!” Dani said and raced out of my room with Derrick and Damien running after her.

” oh my goodness, they’re so tiresome.” I said, holding my head because it ached. 

” You should have your bath, Mr Alvarez’s party starts at six.” Victoria said but I scoffed.

” I’m not going to whore myself.” I said and covered myself in my sheets.

” Still you should go, just sweet talk him at least. It doesn’t have to be that way.” 

” You weren’t there when he was drooling over me at dinner. If you were, you’d have known that he wants more than sweet talk.” 

” Okay, I’ll bring the dress in case you change your mind.” She said before leaving. 

My phone rang and I answered the phone a little too aggressively, ” WHAT?!” 

” Woah, jeez girl what’s up with your mood?” 

” Nina?!” I asked, lowering my voice so that no one would hear me.

” yeah? Why are you mad?”

” Oh my God Nina, I’ve missed you. I couldn’t reach you anymore since we last spoke.”

” Sorry, this is my new number. I’ve missed you too my love, now tell me why you’re mad?” 

I giggled at how she instantly knew that I was upset and then I told her everything that happened with Kade and Alvarez. 

” you should go,” she said after quietly listening to me ranting and complaining for a very long time.

” What? Did you even listen to me?” 

” I did and I say you should go. Go tell that good for nothing rotten old man that your body is not for his having. Make him regret ever looking at you again,”

” umm, that’s not…I can’t do that.” 

” You have to,  I mean the man seems like he knows a lot. You rejecting him will make him realize you’re not the whore the whole world is making you out to be.” 

” He could also feel insulted and start making up lies about me.” 

” Either way, he’ll make up stories about you but if you do what I say, at least you’ll know you told him your mind.” 

” Okay” I said relunctantly. 

” by the way, Kade is the father of your children? How is that even possible?” she asked and I sighed, remembering how weird it was when I discovered.

” turns out we had sex while drunk but none of us remembered it happening.” 

” so how did you find out?” 

Victoria knocked on my door and gestured asking if I won’t be going again.

” I will” I mouthed, she smiled and left. That was suspicious, why does she care if I go or not? 

” Could we talk later? I need to check something.” I said to Nina and hung up. 

Victoria is up to something and I can sense it, I got up from my bed and followed her closely. She went outside but I knew if I go outside she would easily tell I was spying on her. She stopped in front of one of the windows of the guest room downstairs. 

I quickly rushed there and got there in time to hear her talking to someone on the phone.

” She’s going for to see Mr Alvarez…” she said and I wondered why she was reporting me to Kade.

” …yes, Kade was the one who told her to go.” I heard her say. Okay, who is the girl speaking to? 

” Yes sir, I understand. I don’t…know if they’ve done that I don’t go around following their private –” she stopped and shifted the phone from her ears, apparently the person on the line shouted at her.

” – Okay, I’ll find out what I can…I know you’re oayime well for this. I’m sorry Mr Harold, I’ll do better.” She said and then sighed when Mr Harold ended the call.

” Oh…how can I keep doing this?” she said, covering her face. She seemed like she wasn’t enjoying spying on me at all, so why was she doing this? 

I would have to tell Kade that Victoria is spying on us for his father but that would be after I get back from Alvarez’s party.
