No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric)

Noelle didn't hold her tongue with Wyatt. Donovan frowned. "Enough. You're making a scene."

Didn't they see Mia was still here? Wasn't this embarrassing enough?

Donovan handed the dress over to Mia. "She's changed out of it now. You should be satisfied, right?"

Mia had always been easy to appease before, so why was he so unlucky to have her catch him in this situation today? He regretted suggesting that Xenia wear the dress and then change out of it later.

Mia glanced at the dress, tossed it into the trash can, and poured an entire glass of red wine over it.

Noelle could barely hold back her laughter. Xenia felt her heart drop. Mia could have just given the dress to her if she didn't want it!

But no! Xenia was forced to take it off, only to watch it get thrown away. This was humiliating!

Donovan's expression turned unpleasant. "What are you doing?"

"Throwing it away, of course. What? Did you think I'd actually want a dress someone else has worn?" Mia met Donovan's gaze. "Your adopted sister may be precious to you, but she's nothing to me."

Anger flashed in Donovan's eyes at the insult. But he couldn't say anything to Mia. Even if it wasn't Mia, he still wouldn't be able to retort, especially since the Liddells were clearly wrong.

He could only swallow his pride. "I understand. I'll make it up to you with another birthday gift later."

Mia turned to Xenia. "A driver's daughter should know her place. No matter how fancy your clothes are, you'll never be one of us."

Xenia's eyes welled up with tears. "Ms. Cantrell, I've always known my place. I've been careful walking on eggshells all these years."

Wyatt immediately tried to comfort her. "Don't cry, Xenia. I know things haven't been easy for you."

Mia retorted, "Really? From what I hear, she's had it pretty easy. The Liddells favor their adopted sister so much that they even kicked their own biological sister out."

Xenia's tears abruptly stopped. That damn cripple knew a lot.

Donovan didn't want Mia to stay any longer. He quickly said, "Mia, every family has it's own struggles. The Liddells were in the wrong today. I'l explain everything later, but there's no need to tell your family about this, right?"

This would become a much bigger problem if the Cantrells found out.

Mia smirked. "I could keep it from them. But your dear adopted sister dirtied the dress and refused to admit it. Are you really going to let someone with such poor character get away with it?"

She wasn't letting Xenia off the hook. Xenia gritted her teeth in rage. Was this damn cripple done yet?

"But I never expected you to turn out this way. Apologize to Ms. Cantrell and promise never to do this again."

Xenia shrieked, "Donovan, I didn't do anything wrong! Noelle scared me, which made me spill the red wine!"

Wyatt quickly jumped in. "Donovan, Xenia is my fiancee and your future sister-in- law. If anyone should apologize, it's Noelle!"

Noelle scoffed. "Do you two think Ms. Cantrell is stupid enough to fall for this nonsense?"

Mia's gaze sharpened. "Wait... Xenia is your adopted sister. And now she's also your brother's fiancee? Isn't that incest?"

Donovan's expression turned ugly. He wanted nothing more than to throw Xenia and Wyatt out.

These two were always causing trouble! How had he never realized how much trouble Xenia could stir up?
