Chapter 97
Chapter 97
Seeing her angry look, his voice unconsciously lowered, “So I got the wrong idea?”
Celeste snorted, “Just like you always did, don’t you?”
In fact, Liam wasn’t that unreasonable. On the contrary, although he was protective of his own family, if someone really crossed his bottom line, he wouldn’t spare them, even if it was his own mother. But those bottom lines seemed insignificant in front of his true
love.
Unexpectedly, Liam didn’t get angry at her retort. Instead, he said somewhat helplessly. “I’ll get you a new one later. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Celeste stared at him in shock, feeling like his words were meant to appease her.
Was Liam actually trying to appease her?
Either she had a hearing problem, or Liam had gone insane.
She coughed and glanced at him, “If you’re feeling guilty and want to make it up to me, save your breath. I’m not buying it.”
Liam paused and pushed her hand away, “Did you hit your head when you climbed through the window?”
Celeste was speechless. She knew something must be wrong!
See, he was still the same sarcastic, annoying man!
“What are you still standing there for?” Liam took a few steps and saw her still standing there motionless, giving her a cold glare, “Do you need me to carry you?”
She gritted her teeth and reluctantly followed.
It was as if she was deliberately going against him. When he sped up, she sped up too. When he slowed down, she followed suit, always maintaining a proper distance.
The single men at the event noticed Celeste on her own and naturally paid attention to her
Celeste was stunningly beautiful. Even without wearing extravagant attire like other socialites, a simple dress was enough to make people gasp in admiration.
She seemed to be one of those lucky few with great genes. Although her parents weren’t particularly good-looking, it was as if she had used a cheat code when she was born, and all the excellent genes were concentrated in her.
At eighteen, Celeste still had a youthful appearance and wasn’t even the most beautiful girl in her class. But by twenty-three, she had blossomed like a flower bud, her features becoming more and more delicate. The older she got, the more beautiful she became.
There were many beautiful women at the party, but Celeste’s beauty made the others pale in comparison.
Other beautiful women might first catch people’s attention with their exquisite dresses, but with Celeste, no matter what she wore, people were always drawn to her face first.
Liam rarely brought her to such events, so many people didn’t actually know her and assumed she was some wealthy family’s daughter or a guest performer at the party.
In a short span of time, she attracted quite a few young talents to strike up a conversation.
Liam turned his head, and she was chatting with a young man.
Liam recognized the man, as someone had just introduced him. He was a partner of an emerging internet company, in his twenties, using his family’s money to start a business, and doing quite well.
Liam walked over with a furrowed brow.
Seeing Liam, the man smiled and greeted him, “Mr. Reed.”
Liam’s face was calm, and it was hard to tell what he was thinking.
He asked lightly. “What are you two talking about?”
“Nothing much,” the man laughed. “She’s an old classmate of mine. We’re just catching up.”
“Old classmate?” Liam looked at Celeste.
The man thought Liam was asking him and explained, “This is Celeste, my high school classmate. We haven’t been in touch for a long time. I didn’t expect to meet her here. Celeste, this is Mr. Reed from Quantum Enterprises.”
This old classmate was friendly, but not very aware of the situation.
