Gud Wife 7
Mary got up from the bed and hurried out, thinking that maybe she could still find her grandfather. Unfortunately, he had left the mansion several hours ago.
"Mary, my dear, where are you going?" Catherine asked
"I'm looking for my grandfather!"
"Sweetheart, your grandfather left last night. He only stayed for dinner and had to leave."
Catherine's heart ached when she saw the change in the girl's expression. Mary was still wearing the school uniform she had arrived in, looking like a little girl who had just been taken to kindergarten and didn't want to be separated from her father.
"My dear, come on, we need to have breakfast, and then we'll go into town to buy some things for you." "I'm not very hungry."
"Come on, dear. I'm not going to let you
back?"
! What would we tell your grandfather when he comes
"He's coming back?" Mary asked, her eyes wide.
"Yes, he's not leaving forever. It's just that we can't risk him being found. So he's somewhere else, but not far away."
"Then I'll be able to see him again?"
"Of course! Maybe when things calm down, we can find a place to meet up, so we can all be more at
ease..
After hearing this, Mary re-entered the mansion and went to the dining room with Catherine. She ate breakfast in silence, her heart still struggling to accept being alone in a different country, unable to communicate. She regretted not taking the Valentian classes her grandfather had always recommended. In this situation, the only person she could talk to was Catherine.
"Mary, after breakfast, we're going into town. We'll buy you a whole new wardrobe, so you can finally take off that uniform. I'm sorry we didn't have anything else for you to wear, but today you'll have lots of new things.
"Thank you, ma'am! You shouldn't go to so much trouble!"noveldrama
"It's no trouble at all! I always wanted to have daughters, but life never gave me the chance. I'm very excited. Today, we'll visit lots of stores."
"Thank you so much for welcoming me into your
home!"
"By the way, Mary, I'd prefer if you called me Grandma. I'd like that very much, and it might help you feel less like a stranger."
"Really? You don't mind?"
"Come on, of course not! How could it bother me?"
After finishing breakfast, Catherine hurried Mary out the door to go into town. They visited countless 1/2
stores, buying clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories. Catherine was genuinely excited to have Mary under her care. Later in the afternoon, they stopped to get a few slices of pizza. By that time, Mary was already wearing one of the many outfits Catherine had selected for her.
There was no doubt Mary was beautiful. She had inherited her mother's genes. Her face was round but delicately shaped, with a small, upturned nose and large almond-colored eyes framed by thick lashes and eyebrows. Her lips were full and perfectly outlined, and when she smiled, her cheeks gave her a sweet look, making Catherine think of a hamster with its cheeks stuffed with seeds. Catherine was absolutely delighted to take care of this girl. She couldn't wait to introduce her to her friends as her granddaughter. She'd come up with a long story to explain her presence; after all, it wouldn't be the first time she'd had to tell a white lie.
After a long day in town, Mary's room was filled with clothes and many other things to organize in her wardrobe. Even though Catherine did everything she could to make her feel comfortable, Mary couldn't stop thinking about her grandfather. The thought of him made her feel nostalgic and uneasy.
The days flew by, and soon a week had passed. Mary had found a way to communicate with Emma using the translator app on the housekeeper's phone. Even though she worked hard learn the language, she still struggled to understand some things. Catherine also taught her and made her practice her conversation skills during dinner. Her progress was good, but she still had a lot to improve. Because of the family's situation, Mary couldn't use her own phone, which was why Catherine hadn't bought her one. She feared that in a moment of carelessness, Mary might make a mistake that would put everyone in trouble, so having a phone was not an option.
