Chapter 249
Chapter 249
"Hey, look at this dude. He did not keep an eye on his kid, letting her run wild in the mall. The kid takes a tumble, and he's got the nerve to blame our Barbie!"
"What a lowlife, exploiting Barbie's star power to grab some limelight for himself. Totally revolting!"
The rants of those unhinged fans left onlookers dumbfounded and filled Liam with revulsion. Confronted with those zealots who would not spare a thought of their own, he was a mix of sickened and seething.
They took their idol's words as gospel, ignoring any sense of right or wrong, just mindlessly adoring, never pausing to consider the fallout from their rash words and deeds.
However, the real culprits were the idols themselves, flush with resources and clout, wielding their societal sway. Instead of fostering a positive image and contributing to the greater good, they rode the wave of their fanbase, acting like they ruled the world, online and off, doing as they pleased.
Celebs like Barbie, who ran wild on the strength of their following, were a dime a dozen.
Liam watched the phone-wielding fanatics with a stern stare, unmoving, and declared stoically, "I said it before, and I'll say it again! You owe me an apology!"
Barbie glared at Liam, her fury boiling over. She snapped at her assistant, her voice sharp as a knife, "Get the mall staff down here, now! Tell them I'm stuck on the first floor and they'd better sort it out fast, or I'm out of this event!"
Once she finished, her assistant scrambled to get the mall staff on the line, repeating Barbie's demands.
Barbie, meanwhile, stood in the crowd, the picture of injustice, drawing her die-hard fans to her side, their hearts bleeding for her.
"Barbie, don't cry, don't cry. Ignore them, we've got your back!"
"Right, we're here for you. Just wait till we take this online!"
"Can you believe this guy? Using kids to get attention. He got what he deserved. No morals whatsoever, and you can bet his kid's no better. Wouldn't miss 'em if they were gone!" The fans had started by throwing shade at Liam, but then they were spewing venom at Jovie. Liam's expression turned to ice, and his fists clenched so tight they creaked, his eyes shooting daggers.
"What's the big idea? What's everyone doing crowding around here?" The mall staff finally broke through the crowd, plastering on a grin as they faced Barbie.
"Ms. Yack, my apologies! What's the trouble? Who's given you grief?"
Barbie, chin up, pride wounded, pointed straight at Liam, fuming. "Him! He's in my way!" Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
That was when the mall manager caught sight of Liam holding Jovie, and his face darkened with anger. "Who are you? Move it, now!"
After his outburst, the manager ignored Liam, dismissing him as just another Barbie fanatic who had gotten in her way.
