My Formidable Husband

Chapter 55 Jealousy

Christopher couldn’t show her any one of the certificates because both would put him in the spotlight.

The Medical Genius of Chanaea… that was an honorable title that made “glory” its second name.

However, it was also more than just a title. It could practically serve as his identity card, and he couldn’t

afford to be exposed at that time.

Shirley caught Christopher hesitating to answer and assumed that it was because he wasn’t certified.

Hence, she calmly informed, “I’ve already guessed that you aren’t certified, but that’s okay. You’re a Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

soldier, not a military medic, so that is only natural. You should know that under normal circumstances,

your lack of credentials would disqualify you for the job. However, Julianna and I have been friends for

years, and I am willing to give you a chance so long as you promise to work hard. You can learn on the

job. That being said, you will start as an apprentice and will be paid less.”

“That won’t be a problem at all,” replied Christopher. He was never there for the money, anyway.

“Okay, then go on in and change your clothes,” instructed Shirley stoically.

Christopher nodded, headed into the place, and put on his new uniform. Shirley shifted her gaze to him

and couldn’t help being surprised. Holy, I guess the clothes really do make a difference. All Christopher

did was change his clothes, but it looked as though he had turned into a completely different person.

He no longer seemed like a recently discharged soldier.

“Who is that?”

Just then, a young man’s voice interrupted everything. Christopher turned around and saw a slightly

plump man walking toward them. An obvious glint of jealousy flashed past the latter’s eyes when he

saw the former.

Christopher was a soldier, after all, and the harsh training made him ever so muscular. That made the

physical difference between the two men rather obvious.

“Ah, Dr. Lawrence, you are here. Please allow me to make the introductions. This is Christopher

Yaeger. His wife, Julianna, is a close friend of mine. Christopher, this is Dr. Simon Lawrence.”

After the brief introduction, Christopher reached out to shake the good doctor’s hand. The former

smiled and greeted, “Hello, Dr. Lawrence. It’s nice to make your acquaintance.”

“Ah, and here I was, wondering who it could be. So you are the soldier Dr. Xander talked about. What

is wrong with the economy? Shouldn’t a soldier work as a bodyguard? Why did you come to Boleite

Medical Clinic? Do you fantasize about being a doctor or something?”

Simon never extended his hand to shake Christopher’s. Instead, he grinned mockingly at the guy.

Arrogance bubbled up on his face right away.

Christopher couldn’t help frowning at that. I have never offended the guy, so why is he acting

inimically?

Naturally, Christopher didn’t know that Simon was into Shirley, but was too afraid to make a move. That

was why the latter was instantly jealous when he saw her looking at Christopher.

Shirley ended up being in a difficult situation. Simon graduated from a renowned university, and Boleite

Medical Clinic spent a small fortune recruiting him. That made it rather impossible for Shirley to say

anything harsh to him.

“He’s simply interested in medicine, Dr. Lawrence,” said Shirley who was quick to grin apologetically.

“Being a doctor is a noble calling,” corrected Simon harshly.

Christopher nodded and replied, “I know.”

Simon was going to continue yelling at Christopher when he heard someone shouting. “Doctor, come

quick. Please, save my child.”

Soon, a young couple rushed into the place with a boy who looked like he was in a lot of pain. The kid

was burning red and kept wrenching as though he would vomit blood without warning.

Both Simon and Shirley panicked right away. They hurried to the kid and examined him.

“What happened?” asked Simon urgently.

“We have no idea. We were shopping in the underground shopping mall earlier, and he suddenly

became sick when we were right outside your clinic,” replied the boy’s father in a trembling voice.

“Maybe he has a fever before you ever reach the place. I’ll get him some ice packs and administer

some treatment to ease his pain. Everything should be fine after the fever subsides,” replied Simon

softly after he placed his hand on the kid’s head.

“Thank you, doctor,” said the father appreciatively.
