Chapter 51: Epilogue
Chapter 51: Epilogue
Two Years later
Pearl's POV:
With a glass of Champagne in my hand, I looked over the party which was thrown to celebrate my success in the fashion world. After the project with Benedict, I never had to look back as more and more works kept coming and soon I was not only the daughter of an influential man but made a name of my own. People are now excited to wear my designs and my name is being written on multiple magazines.
Things were tough, but I was a survivor and that got me the chance to see my loved ones being proud of me and gathered under one roof.
"Congratulations, sister." Armin's voice made me look back, I didn’t even realize someone was walking towards me.
"Thank you. Are you back for good?" After Lou got married to Alexander last year, Armin left the country and went to Brazil. This boy always kept everything to himself, so I never got to be sure that he was in love with my best friend.
"Yeah, thinking of staying here from now on." He smiled, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Look who is here."
I looked towards the front door, and saw Nathaniel entering and greeting Christen who opened the door for him. "I didn’t know he was back to New York."
"Well, he is coming towards us." As Armin finished, Nathaniel reached us. "Long time no see, Nathaniel."
"Yeah, just got back a few days ago. How are you, Pearl?"
"Just holding there I guess." I said back, "How is life treating you, Nathan?"
"Never have been this good." He smiled as he said.
"I will leave you both to talk. My friend, Tom is here." Saying that Armin left us alone and things got a bit awkward after that.
"You have made us all proud, Pearl. I'm really happy for you." I could hear how genuinely happy he was for me, that gave me a bit of comfort.
"Heard you are opening up an hospital in France. That is such a big step, Nathan."
"Yeah, I hope it won't leave me bankrupt." He said in joking manner but his shoulder was tensed.
"Don't worry, I'll lend you some money then, I'm making enough." I lightly punched him on his shoulder as I said that and he visibly relaxed.
"We are counting on you then, Pearl."
"You should, where is that beautiful fiancee of your? Didn’t you bring her with you?" Nathan's mother shared this information with my mom recently and when it got my ears, I couldn’t be more happy for Nathan as he had already let me know before when he fell in love with her back in France.
"She is due anytime. So, didn’t want to come out with the risk of getting labor pain. I'll go back to once I greer Mr and Mrs Bennett."
"I can understand. Is it a boy or girl?" I asked with a cheeky smile. Hey, you can't blame me, I love babies.
"It is going to be a girl." He declared blooming with excitement in his eyes.
"Aww, a princess. Okay, I won't take your time anymore, you have to hurry back. Take care, Nathan."
"You too, Pearl. We are all here for you, you know that right?"
"I do. NOW shoo, shoo, shoo." Nathan laughed and turned his back as he kept striding.
I went back to what I was doing, that is to think. The past years have done me good. But there were also a bit of loneliness mixed in that. After my divorce with Ryan, no one even brought his name in any conversation. It felt like he never existed in my life. But he did. He still does. I often see his name popping on magazines as he started his own business and everything is working out for him. Uncle Rob, finally forgave him and even though Ryan was adamant to not take over there family business, he finally did as there were no one who could. He even offered it to me, but I declined as I had no interest in all that.
"What are you thinking about?" Someone asked as they wrapped a hand around my shoulder.
"Just this and that. I need a refill, Brett."
"Hey girl, why are you saying me that? I'm not going to do any work for you." He took his hand off me and looked down at me like I told him to build a house for me on his own. "Hey, Ben. Pearl here needs a refill of her champagne." He shouted to Benedict as soon as he spotted him.
"None of my business, saw a girl in the lawn, I'm going to chat her up." He winked and left in hurry. What a bunch of good friends I have got! NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
"I will get it on my own." I huffed and start walking towards the bar and heard Brett shouting that one should always depend on themselves. I just rolled my eyes and stopped myself from showing the middle finger, that wouldn’t look good with my dress!
As I was looking for some place to seat to enjoy my new glass of Champagne, the calling bell went of. I looked around and realized I was the one who was close to door. So, after a sigh, I opened the door
and found him standing there with a bunch of pink Camelia in his hand.
"No one told me you are going to come, Ryan." I said to him but didn’t move away from the threshold to give him space to enter.
"I am not, I just wanted to give you this. I'll go now." He smiled and gave them in my hand. "Congratulations for starting your own fashion chain. Oh by the way, the lady from the flower shop told me that this means 'longing for you'. I'll take your leave now."
I didn’t got to say anything because before I had assembled my thoughts he had already left.
A smile formed on my lips slowly as I knew at that point, may be we will be okay, not today, hell not even anytime soon. But may be one day.
