Chapter 653
"Dustin, I'm heading out later to meet an old classmate. His family holds significant influence in Hattan..."
Simone spoke to Dustin after making a call as they left the Langley family villa.
"You're planning to get into the pharmaceutical business, right? His family has connections. I'll talk to him and see if there's a chance for collaboration."
Dustin raised an eyebrow.
"Simone, you don't have to trouble yourself. I've already made all the arrangements, and no additional connections are necessary," he said with a smile.
“I don't want to just stand on the sidelines like some trophy. Having more options never hurts. Let me handle this. You can go about your business. Your man looks like he has something to discuss with you," she said before waving him off.
"Alright. I'll come to pick you up when I'm done," Dustin called after her.
"My Liege, the car is ready. Shall we head to the Lynch family now?" Drake approached and asked.
"Let's go." Dustin's face turned cold as he got into the car.
...
A luxury car pulled up to the iron gates of the sprawling Lynch family villa in Hattan.
Hayden stepped out and adjusted his suit.
"Could you inform the Lynch family patriarch that Hayden Clarke is here to see him?" he asked the gatekeeper politely.
"Wait here." The gatekeeper strolled off lazily to deliver the message.
After some time, the gates creaked open, and Hayden was led into the Lynch family villa's living room.
Sitting on the sofa was a dignified middle-aged man radiating authority. He was Martin Lynch, the head of the Lynch family.
"Mr. Lynch," said Hayden as he greeted the man with a respectful bow.
On the surface, the Clarke and Lynch families seemed like equals in Hattan, but insiders knew better. Business families like the Clarke family could not compare to the deeply rooted martial families like the Lynch family.noveldrama
The Lynch family had countless methods to crush a business rival if they so wished.
Unbeknownst to outsiders, the Lynch family had secretly supported the Clarke family from the shadows.
"I've made it clear already. Unless it's something critical, you're not to come here uninvited. Whatever it is, you could have told me over the phone," Martin said impatiently while sipping his tea.
"Mr. Lynch, I'm truly at my wit's end. My son was handling a matter for Mr. Steven, but now, he's locked up in the prison of the Governor's office beg the Lynch family to intervene and get rid of him. Hayden pleaded.
Martin's face darkened instantly.
"Are you telling me the task wasn't completed?" he asked sharply.
"Useless! You couldn't even handle such a simple matter, and now, you dare to come here asking for help?"
Hayden's face fell as he stammered out words in his defense.
"Mr. Lynch, Dustin isn't an ordinary man... I took over a dozen people to deal with
him, but none of them could even get close to him.....”
"Of course, you couldn't handle him," said Martin and sneered.
He was infuriated that their plan to assassinate Dustin had failed.
They were aware that Dustin was at least a Martial Saint. So, the Lynch family had sent Steven to
orchestrate the assassination. Using Dustin's fiancee as bait, they lured him into a trap and planned to have the top assassin from Breaking Wolf, Wolfin, strike the final blow...
The plan had seemed foolproof.
Yet, somehow, it had failed.
"Has Steven returned yet?" Martin turned to his staff.
"We've not seen him since."
The staff's response made his face darken.
Martin tried to call Steven himself, but no one answered.
His brows furrowed.
"Could something have happened to Steven?" A sense of foreboding crept into his mind, though he quickly dismissed it as paranoia.
"Summon the elders and the other family members," Martin ordered with a wave of his hand.
What do you think?
